  1. Ok, I will be bringing my wife so I'll see if I can round up two together then I will do that. If not, I can use yours and purchase one. Thanks man.
  2. This guy excites me and would get me over my Chico crush.
  3. Based on what he said in his presser at OU that Harry posted, he'd be closer to home. Maybe he looks at us as a stepping stone to get the Tech head job when Kingsbury gets run out of town. I don't mind being a stepping stone because you have to be successful to get hired away.
  4. Thanks bud. I really appreciate that. You aren't planning to go?
  5. I want to go too but was going to watch the ticket exchange and see if anyone put some on there. My mom gave me some money for my bday and this is what I want to use it for but if I can get some good seats for cheap or free then I can spend the money on gas/hotel/food, maybe take the kids to the FW zoo or Dallas Aquarium.
  6. I've made it to step 4 but I just can't bring myself to acceptance. It may take the press conference with the new coach to get me there.
  7. You gotta start somewhere. You don't build a house from the top down, you build it from the bottom up. We are not going to go from 2-9 or 3-8 and jump to 9-3 the next season. You guys are talking about putting the shingles on the roof before we've even poured the foundation.
  8. Did we have enough? Fisher was making in the low $400s as OC his first year at FSU where they were coming of a 7-6 season with a bowl win over UCLA. After his first season he became head-coach-in-waiting and got a salary bump.
  9. Yes he beat Baylor. Once. In 2003 when they were 3-9 with wins over SMU, Colorado, and Sam Houston. Not impressive. He also lost to Baylor in 1999 when they went 1-10 and we were their only win, in 2000 when they went 2-9, and in 2004 when they were 3-8. He beat Texas Tech once.in 1999 in what turned out to be Spike's last year at Tech. He lost to Tech in '98, '00, and '01. Matt Simon beat Tech in '97. His 9 year overall record was 42-64 or 39.6% win pct. His conference record was 31-20(worse than Matt Simon's)). If you take out the 26 consecutive over 4 seasons and1 game, he bookended his career with a 5-20 conference record or 20%. His greatest accomplishment was being head coach when the Big West dropped football. If the Big West keeps football in 2001, Darrell Dickey is fired in 2001. In his first 3 seasons, while NT was still in the Big West, he went 5-11 in conference and 8-25 overall. He was a lucky mf'er that's about it. Very true but none of those 4 conference championships would've happened if Boise had still been in our conference after '00.
  10. The losses were not as lopsided as the experts in Vegas expected them to be and Vegas expected us to lose to UTSA by 9.
  11. Well seeing as how we haven't had a coach win 43% of his games since Corky Nelson and looking at what he's had to take over both times, I say hire the man. His 43% win pct at NT would be much more important then theirs at "insert name here" university. Also, with a 43% winning percentage, he'd have a better coaching record than the last guy we hired.
  12. Bowen's defense wasn't nearly as good as Skladany's. No thanks.
  13. We were nothing more than interview practice for Harbaugh and Fisher. They both went on to P5 schools that same year to make more than Dodge did here and Jimbo made more in '07 as OC at FSU than Dodge did as HC. If you truly believe they were going to accept this job, I may have some property for sale.
  14. I'm glad Dodge still likes us enough to not steer his players away from us. I was worried there were hard feelings. Say what you want about his record here, guy was always a class act.
  15. He isn't any worse then the SEC-tested Tommy Tuberville was.
  16. If history is any indicator, I would estimate we will know our new head coach's name on November 30 or December 1. Dickey fired - November 8, 2006 Dickey Last game - November 25, 2006 Todd Dodge hired - December 12, 2006 Todd Dodge last SLC game - December 23, 2006 Todd Dodge fired - October 20, 2010 NT last 2010 game - November 27, 2010 McCarney hired - November 30, 2010 McCarney fired - October 10, 2015 NT last 2015 game - November 28, 2015
  17. Solution: Since we are concerned he may fail if given a long-term deal and we are also concerned about losing recruits because of his lack of a long-term deal, let us do this..... Give him the standard 5yr contract with 400-500k base, performance-based incentives up to an additional $500k for a max of $900k to $1M. Make the buyout for said contract 1 year's base salary. If he failed miserably after a year or two, we lose $500k max, rather than another $2M. If he was successful and someone tried to lure him away, then we could worry about increasing the salary and buyout or even just allow the other team to steal him. Arkansas State and WKU have been doing pretty damn well having their coaches poached annually. I'd like to have a problem like that here. Ultimately, if it came to someone trying to hire him away, we would see if his loyalty was truly to our university or to the opportunity of being a head coach.
  18. Latif Nurudeen I was only 34 when I got my Head Coaching gig. I can score but my defense is not great.
  19. Is UH's hand sign the reverse shocker? And also, should we consider this guy? Oh and Data seems a little too "excited" these days for me.
  20. I was against firing RV but now I'm for it. Guess I'm a flip-flopper.
  21. Hell no to Jay Norvell. The Austin sports media is having a field day with this guy over his performance against Iowa State. Also, Withers can't be a serious candidate if he is a defensive guy, right? Didn't RV say they were going after offensive coaches?
  22. Their play-by-play voice reminds me of Marty Lee Dreiwitz from Good Morning Vietnam.
  23. We have been really fortunate to have such great play-by-play voices over the years. Mercer-Dunham-Barnett. If I had to listen to someone like the Miami guy, I just wouldn't listen.
  24. blue vest was 0-5 ATS.
  25. I know McCarney won a few road games, 5 to be exact, in 28 chances over 4.5 seasons, a 5-23 w/l record on the road for a win percentage of less than 18% For comparison, Canales sits at 2-2 all-time on the road. He went 2-1 in 2010 and sits at 0-1 so far this year. Canales won his first 2 road games in 2010 while it took McCarney 9 road games for him to get his 2nd NT road win. Give me Canales and his .500 win percentage as the better road coach all day long.
