  1. Not picking sides here but Littrell calls the plays for UNC and the Co-OCs work under him.
  2. Doug Meacham Matthew McConaughey Seth Littrell Kyle Chandler
  3. Littrell followed OU folks around until he got to UNC. We could do worse than him or Meacham. They are both good hires. The funny thing is, Littrell was linked to our job jokingly very early by some blog because he looks somewhat like the Friday Night Lights tv show head coach. I figured he just wants to be closer to home.
  4. LSU is gonna end up kicking themselves just like Tennessee did with Fulmer and Texas did with Mack.
  5. I was there. It was fun to watch. I was watching Jinks on the sideline because I thought he was a legitimate candidate, guess he isn't. Charile's job is safe for another year unless he decides to get out while the gettin's good as they say. He will be gone after next season if he doesn't leave on his own after this season.
  6. This guy also works at TCU and has some familiarity with our athletic programs.
  7. I remember seeing him in a restaurant in Austin about a month before Herman hired him. He was just sitting there with some older guy, nobody even noticed him but me. I didn't say anything to him because I didn't want to disturb the guy while he was eating.
  8. He wants Willie Fritz and the cost would be for us to join a P5 conference which won't happen before signing day so that's a no go.
  9. He was actually the only coach retained from Mack's staff by Charile Strong. He was let go after the 2014 season. I suspect he was largely retained to keep Mack's top state of Texas 2014 recruits(Heard).
  10. If Meacham could get Curtis Luper, his college teammate and TCU RB coach, we might have that recruiting spark we need. Luper recruited both Cam Newton and Michael Dyer to Auburn and that worked out pretty well for a year.
  11. Meacham has set many records directing offenses below the G5 level so I'm sure he can relate to our plight just as much as a FCS head coach could.
  12. I like that he is an alumnus and was friendly to me when I got his autograph in /Austin but I don't think he is what we're looking for this time.
  13. Story about Jinks ascent in the SA paper.
  14. Saw this on a WKU site. Apparently we have the second most experienced coaching staff in all of CUSA. I did not know that.
  15. Went to the Texas/Texas Tech game last night. Jinks is easily the most active coach on the Tech sidelines. He seems t o be a good motivator/encourager and Deandre Washington is a fantastic back under Jinks tutelage.
  16. This video describes my feelings on this hire after seeing who is not in the top four.
  17. Applewhite is not P5 so I doubt he is one of the 4.
  18. Does Nathan Elliott have a dog? And if so, is it named Ray and/or properly fenced in?
  19. I'm guessing Spavital, Littrell, Meacham or Cumbie, and the fourth is harder to guess but I'd say Tim Beck, Rhett Lashlee, or Josh Henson. Either way, I'm not terribly excited about any of these.
  20. The fact that none of those 4 is even a finalist is a little unsettling to me. I get the feeling this might be another meh hiring. I hope we aren't doing this same song and dance 4 years from now. Hopefully if we are it will be with a new AD.
  21. lol, that was a good one. I voted for the Texas Rattlesnake. I'd love to tell SMU next year that North Texas 3:16 says I just whipped your ass. He'd give a hell of a press conference..
  22. Malcolm Brown left Cibolo Steele and Jinks as a High School All-American and the #1 ranked running back in the nation. In 2014, Deandre Washington became the first running back to reach 1,000 yards in a season at Texas Tech since 1998 (15 years). He did it again this season. He did this under the guidance of Mike Jinks and will likely end up being drafted in April because of it. I think he'd do just fine in telling a player how to get to the league. Dodge was qb coach for 2 years at FCS North Texas in 1992 and 1993. He had not been a college coach in 13 years when he took over as head coach. I was thinking time vs now, that's why I screwed up and put 20 years.
  23. Dodge was 20 years removed from that college experience when hired and we were I-AA at the time so it wasn't even I-A experience. How about this one? Candidate X is in his late 40s with 20yrs as a Texas high school coach and 4 Texas state titles and 3 years coaching at the FBS college level in Texas. University Y hires Candidate X to take over a team that has gone 5-18 over the previous two seasons(sound familiar?). Candidate X ends up leading University Y to 4 bowl games in 5 years with one conference championship and a ten win season while only having one losing season in those 5 years. Candidate X is hired away by University Z. University Y has gone bowling in 7 of the 9 years since Candidate X's departure. Prior to Candidate X's arrival the previous two coaches combined to win 28.6% of their games. Candidate X won 55% of his games and the two candidates after X won 62% of their games. Candidate X was a program changing hire and his name was Art Briles.
