  1. Haha, yea, only took a plane full of brass. Don't forget the 3yr $850k per year contract and the required 3yr $550k per year contract for the o-line coach he is bringing. Gonna cost UT a couple milllion to buy these 2 out next year along with the several million they'll have to pay Strong to go away. Chimp Brown is a clown and a SMUg d-bag alumnus.
  2. Well crap.
  3. I'm just glad that Dodge doesn't hold the same grudge as some on this board. If he did, this guy would have never sniffed our program.
  4. I can't speak to the other non-lake schools but I know for a fact that Fossil Ridge had only existed for like two years when Dodge became the head coach. His improvement there is probably what landed him the SL job.
  5. Completely agree with this. McCarney's record without Skladany is not good at all.
  6. That momentum was long gone when Dickey was fired. In 2005, our momentum led to a 2-9 record (2-5 in conference), good for worst in the conference (tie with FAU) while scoring 14.3 points per game and giving up 31.5 points per game. In 2006, our momentum led to a 3-9 record (2-5 in conference), good for second worst in the conference behind winless FIU(It took 7 overtimes for us not to lose to them), while scoring 12.8 points per game and giving up 25.3 points per game. We were just about unwatchable in '05-'06 and it all started with Tulsa blowing our doors off 50-2 in our home opener in '05. If you truly believe we had momentum when Dodge got here, you're not being honest with yourself about the history of this program. Dodge was a gamble that ultimately failed but it was a risk worth taking because it brought people back out to watch the team because it brought excitement regardless of how excruciatingly painful that excitement was at times. Dickey's '05-'06 teams brought the excitement level of watching a car rust.
  7. Yea, #1 and #7 on our all-time scoring leaders list; #1 and #8 on our all-time rushing yardage leaders list; #2, #6, and #9 on our all-time passing yardage leaders list; #10 on our all-time receiving yardage leaders list; #3, #6, an #8 on our all-time total offense yardage leaders list; #1 and #2 on our all-time all-purpose yardage leaders list. Not bad for a bunch of average players. Guess throughout our history we haven't had many rise to the level of average.
  8. 90 is pessimistic, hates all things RV, and assumes everything RV touches will fail based on his experiences. Seuss is optimistic and is enthusiastic about the program outside of his feelings for the person running the athletics department. 90 is a whipped dog, Seuss hasn't been beaten down as many times as 90 so he still exudes positivity. I understand 90's perspective but I appreciate Seuss's perspective more because what is the point of coming on the board and caring about this program if you expect to fail regardless of any changes made.
  9. Westlake hasn't been to the state finals in 6 years. He is a good coach. You guys are still bitter because he made some rookie mistakes while coaching us. I'd take a Todd Dodge coached quarterback over anything else we've ever had at NT. Mitch Maher, Vizza, Riley, and DT all at NT. Chase Daniel and Greg McElroy at Southlake. Tom Savage at Pitt. Sam Ehlinger at Westlake. He neglected the defense, we all know that. By the time he made the effort to correct it, it was too late for his career. Let us not bash a man who was a tremendous ambassador for UNT, recruited the bulk of our 2013 bowl team, and was vital to our making Apogee a reality. Yes he had a terrible win-loss record but I am forever grateful to Todd Dodge for the positive things he brought to our program.
  10. Maybe this guy could graduate and transfer as a grad transfer to be closer to home? Dalton Stogner had an offer from us when he was at HP but walked on at UNC.
  11. Denton to Colorado Springs - 645 miles Denton to Albuquerque - 608 miles Denton to Logan - 1268 miles Denton to Boise - 1575 miles Denton to Ft Collins - 818 miles Denton to Laramie - 884 miles Avg trip - 966 miles vs. Denton to Hattiesburg - 528 miles Denton to Ruston - 291 miles Denton to San Antonio - 308 miles Denton to Houston - 279 miles Denton to El Paso - 638 miles Avg trip - 408 miles We should never, never, never go to the MWC. Travel would be much harder on the team and it would make watching the team more difficult for our fans. Rice would be making a tremendous mistake. UTEP, I could see it making sense for them.
  12. It would be a mistake for Rice.
  13. I think this is spot on. When Iowa State said no thanks, he had to reconsider his place in the college football pecking order. Anyway, you don't recruit great quarterbacks and wide receivers running the triple option or the stuff we've run the last 5 years. You get some good running backs but that's it. The spread recruits good players to ALL the skill positions.
  14. Even better point. +1000 to the n-th Nope, we didn't stoop to playing FCS back in '08. We did give up 77 to Rice, 59 to ULL, 56 to Tulsa, and 52 to the MUTS though. You got some real juggernauts there.
  15. You'd be wrong, the worst NT defense in history was 2008 under DeLoach. We gave up 41.3 ppg this season. We gave up 45.1 under Mendoza in '07 and the winner and still champ is Deloach in '08 with our record high of 47.6 ppg. '08 was the Rice season. If you don't know what I'm talking about when I say Rice season, you didn't have to sit through that garbage.
  16. Good point. Let's just go pay Ruffin $400k-$500k and be done with it.
  17. Possible? Stephen Hamby Grad Asst at Tech assisting with O-line.
  18. Even though I defended the guy a bit,, I agree with you. He is much better than Cosh but I think we could find a better fit for NT.
  19. $250k, was only making $318k as the DC at Nebraska.
  20. He didn't get fired. His head coach got fired after 7 consecutive seasons of 9+ wins. He had to seek employment elsewhere.
  21. I mean I guess he can go to SMU and be Matt Davis' backup if he really wants to. I doubt that he is foolish enough to do that unless he doesn't care about playing time and just wants to be a SMUg douche.
  22. Dude ran Leach's offense for 5 years, including 3 years as a starter with one of those being Tech's best season in program history. I think just about any team in the NFL would take Peyton Manning as their OC and he hasn't been a coach yet. Dude knows offenses and how to read defenses. Harrell is the son of a highly successful Texas HS football coach who ran the spread too. He will be fine. Oh, and he backed up Aaron Rogers on a Super Bowl team so he had to have picked something up there too.
  23. I believe this was a gift to Snyder from Stoops. That is the only reason he wasn't blocked from transferring to the Big12 like happens pretty much every time.
