  1. Yea, ask the folks that have been around since the Fry days what dropping down did for our program.
  2. Yep, Chris Vaughn, another Ole Miss assistant implicated in the violations was let go after spending two years on Charlie Strong's staff at Texas. He was instrumental in signing a top prospect in Brandon Jones for the Horns. He chose the Horns over a "whose who" list of power programs. Texas will never be investigated. Write it in stone. He magically stopped playing dirty when he came to Texas to coach with that core-value having "treat women with respect" non-adulterer Charlie Strong.
  3. Big West bretheren. These may be two of the few FBS teams that have been worse than us over the last 20 years.
  4. I need to know the game start time before I predict.
  5. So according to my Texas Tech co-worker buddy, Patrick is trying to become the D-Line coach at Mississippi State now. Looking to head back east I guess.
  6. I agree with you.
  7. Prior to his senior season, Dajon was in Lone Star Recruiting's top 10 quarterbacks in the state ahead of both Davis Webb and Baylor's Chris Johnson.
  8. I think most of this could describe DT just as much as Hall and he should be in the NT HOF someday. I think you could say that DT was a large part in our victory over a Ball State team that would go 10-3 that year in '13. He also played a big role in our '13 bowl victory. Thompson passed for 256 yards while completing 21 of 30 attempts. His 7-yard touchdown pass to tight end Drew Miller in the third quarter broke a 7-7 tie, while his 34-yard strike to Darnell Smith put UNT up, 28-7, in the fourth quarter and essentially iced the game for the Mean Green. Thompson left the game briefly in the first quarter after suffering a knee injury. He said the patella popped out in his right knee and had to be pushed back in. “He took some good shots,” UNLV head coach Bobby Hauck said. “We hit him, knocked him down, roughed him up. He got right back up and did a good job.” Dare I say that the drop from Scott Hall to Daniel Meager was less noticeable than the drop from Derek Thompson to McNulty/Greer? Maybe it wasn't but it sure felt like it, at least as far as talent level goes. @Harry It seems that youtube links work from google chrome but not internet explorer.
  9. Well Texas State had two drafted last year so they should be kicking our ass in recruiting but they aren't.
  10. I'm sure the recruits that didn't choose North Texas told Littrell and Co that they weren't going to sign with us because the athletic director has never hired a coach who had a player invited to the NFL combine. That makes a ton of sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me. They would just ignore the success of the guys below and go to another program based on the athletic director's success in the 3 main sports. I get it.
  11. I love this kid. He seems much more excited to be here than Morris. I can't wait to see him on the field.
  12. Thanks Harry.
  13. ^^^I hate that I can't post videos anymore^^^
  14. For me, it was the game pictured below. It was the first time I watched us beat a team in person that I'd actually heard of before attending NT. It was the first time we played them since moving back up from I-AA and we won.
  15. I'd take DT over Hall. We have two bowl victories in our history. One with Andrew Smith and one with DT. DT won the bowl MVP. Scott Hall was ranked #86 out of 112 (23rd percentile) with a QBR of 36.1 his senior year in the same rankings adman used above where DT's QBR was 55.3 and he was 80th out of 128 (37th percentile).. Don't kid yourself that Scott Hall was a great quarterback. He was a defensive back that turned out to be an average quarterback on a team with great running backs and stout defenses, no better than DT.
  16. I won't be satisfied until I know the SMU game starts after 5pm. It is disappointing that RV couldn't get the AFC South Champs in for a game. Would've been nice to get a regional power into Apogee. That RV is just no good.
  17. It is also a fact that in 2013 we had our highest average attendance in history at 23,509. Another fun fact, the lowest attended season since RV took over prior to this season's car wreck was in 2001 at 14,769 per game which is more than 1,000 over this season. This season was trash, the reasons have been fired or moved on in other ways. Attendance will eclipse 18,000 this season and I'd guess closer to 20,000 is what we'll see but 18k is a sure bet. Mark it down.
  18. Average Attendance in 2004 was 15,184 in our 4th consecutive bowl season including our 25th consecutive conference victory. Average Attendance in 2008 was 16,956 in what was considered(until this year) our worst season in history. This season's attendance was more a product of losing that first "home" game to SMU. Had McCarney and Co not laid down for old Chad Morris, attendance would've been much higher in the first game which would've propped up the average. I'm sure a lot of students that got convinced to go to the SMU game skipped the home opener they otherwise would've went to. In Dodge's last season (2010), our attendance for the first home game was 23,743 at Fouts. In McCarney's last season (2015), our attendance for the first game at Apogee was 19,602. But the opponent you say? Rice in both cases. This season was a product of everyone seeing 2014 all over again on Sept 12, 2015. Everyone knew how the season would turn out after McNulty trotted out there 2.5 minutes into the game with the ball on SMU's 16 and proceeded to hand the ball off 3 times in the redzone leading to a Trevor Moore field goal. This past season was all on Mac, Don King couldn't have gotten people to pay to watch that hot garbage.
  19. Based on the below that I pulled from our Facts and Records book, we had played SMU 34 times prior to 2015 which is the second most times we've played any team. The team we've played the most? Our fellow former teacher's college to the south, SWTSU-SM is the team we've played most with 37 total contests. We should eclipse that in 2018 if our series continues but we do have a history with the 'cats even though we haven't played in over 20 years. I'd much rather have played them than Portland State, Nicholls, TxSouthern, or Bethune-Cookman.
