  1. Geez, some of you get upset over this, maybe he wants to get out of Texas for a year to see what it is like to be elsewhere. There are many times starters use their last year to get a change. Don't hate on this guy, he says nothing but good things about NT on his twitter Now, time to clear up some inaccuracies. Looks like he has pretty good athleticism to go with that "big body". Z-ro never said he was going to work, Vito only reported, "Wallace graduated from UNT and decided not to return for his final year of eligibility". You all just assumed he was giving up football, that was never reported, just assumed. We don't know that Morris told the Tide anything, perhaps Saban or Joey Freshwater suggested he leave since he was one of 5 quarterbacks in Tuscaloosa, the only senior of the 5, and only had one pass attempt in 4 years. We do know that he didn't come clean when directly asked about it at the Cotton Bowl. Former Allen quarterback and current Alabama backup Alec Morris declined to address his future Tuesday, hours after the Denton Record-Chronicle reported on its Mean Green Blog that he has received his release from Alabama and is strongly considering transferring to North Texas. “Let me help you out,” Morris said Tuesday during Alabama’s press conference in advance of the Cotton Bowl on Thursday in Arlington. “If you have any questions about Alabama, the Cotton Bowl or questions about the game, I’d be happy to answer those.”
  2. Well his brother tweeted this yesterday ......so I'm guessing he is leaning towards Skip to my Lou Jr. U.
  3. The stats don't bear that out. Riley was more efficient and a better runner. Don't get me wrong though, Vizza did like to play at a HIGH level and I never thought he'd blaze a trail right out of Denton, but I guess when you're getting blitzed as much as he was, it leaves you hungry for something else.
  4. I'm glad he was coached by Riley. Riley was our best quarterback of the Todd Dodge era. If he had been more durable and not had lingering ulnar nerve damage from high school he could've been really special for us.
  5. I didn't see that. Thanks Deep.
  6. I assume he is talking about NFL aspirations and that he'd have a better shot playing somewhere else than riding the pine in Austin.
  7. Will be immediately eligible this fall as a 5th year senior grad transfer. From what I can tell, he only has one high school teammate from Van playing FBS college football and that is this guy. Would be a good get for Ekeler.
  8. Yep, I love prime for the HBO content, Kenny f'n Powers and Flight of the Conchords. Netflix always seems to have more and better movies in my opinion.
  9. Dude is a grown ass man and looks damn good in a Mean Green jersey. Let's finish this up.
  10. It seems to me that Morris was given every opportunity to earn the job because he had to be lured here. The others were here already so didn't need to be wooed. I doubt very seriously they would demote a 5th year senior grad transfer after 15 practices. Let's see how fall practice goes. I don't think there was any realistic way of Quinn becoming #1 on the depth chart this spring, regardless of how well he played or poorly Morris possibly could've played.
  11. I gotta say, that is probably unfair to Shanbour. Rudy sucked and was an a-hole to boot. Even Joe Montana said the carry off the field thing was a joke making fun of the guy. Shanbour to my eyes will be a significantly better player for us the next two year than Rudy was for his 2 plays.
  12. Based on this depth chart, I think it is safe to say that we are not optimistic on Bryce English's eligibility this year.
  13. Am I reading this chart correctly? Shanbour is roughly the same build as Jeff Wilson? Hope we have solid backups for when that frail Wilson gets hurt?
  14. I wonder what Jeffrey Wilson thinks of this.
  15. I remember that, Greer and McNulty were the practice time heroes while our current backup who appears to be way better than anyone imagined, was assuming the job of student quarterback coach. "Yea, I know our starting quarterbacks suck when the lights come on but you should see them in practice. Iowa, National Championship Ring. Bobby Stoops. Iowa. Barry Alvarez. Iowa."
  16. I thought we had what Littrell/Harrell wanted and that is why we didn't offer Devante Kincaide. Is that not correct?
  17. Brennan was a walk-on at Colorado before being kicked out. He then became a walk-on at Hawaii. Baker Mayfield had scholarship offers too so if Vito is going to point to Baker, you have to include Weeden.
  18. Fun fact. The year Simms set those passing records, Bama averaged 277.9 yards per game passing. In 2007, North Texas threw for an average of 289.7. I'd be willing to bet that as long as Chumley or Means don't see the field this year, we will beat that 277.9 ALL-TIME number. Ok @Brett Vito, challenge accepted. Ever heard of Brandon Weeden or Colt Brennan?
  19. Was there for that one too. That was the second sickest I've ever been watching a UNT game, the first was watching my beloved Mean Green take the field in black junior high practice jerseys. I think a left in the first quarter because I was so disgusted. That was the first of only a few times I've ever left before the clock hit all zeroes. Sure did, Nutt was about to get fired, Hog fans all showed up wearing black. Mindy became number 1 on my hate list that day. It was the last year the Hogs had Felix Jones, McFadden, and Hillis together in one backfield. If I remember right, Vizza scored on a keeper.
  20. I was with you for the Norman and Fayetteville trips although I was on the bus for Norman. I'll never forget 2007 was the year App State beat Michigan because I was on the bus to Norman when I heard the news. Vizza had me excited solely based on his potential. You're showing your ignorance Brett. Maher, Ramsey, Davis, etc. Hell, give me a Scott Hall or DT at their peak over an unknown 4th string developed by Joey Freshwater.
  21. You should think @UNT90 for being the University's Eeyore. Cue the sunshine pumper gif.
  22. Agreed. Also, it appeared to me that Morris might be just a step faster the Greer was, which makes me nervous but if he can get the ball out quickly (like a Peyton Manning did), the speed won't matter.
  23. If Shanbour was 6'0 plus he would be on scholarship at OSU too.
