  1. Luke Falk only had offers from FCS, Idaho, and Wyoming. Pat Mahomes only had offers from Tech, Houston, and Rice. Just because you don't have an extensive offer list doesn't mean you can't be a record setting quarterback in this offense.
  2. I think it has more to do with Mason's ability to come back from injury than Morris showing his big gun but you get the W even if it is on a technicality.
  3. I hope you guys beat New Mexico on their turf and represent the conference well. Having said that, I hope we hang a hundred on you at Apogee next year.
  4. So if he gets an offer from OU, Arkansas, or Texas, then we did great because we had a quality player committed that ultimately chose P5 over us? Is the recruiting strategy to go see what commits each school has so they can have a respectable offer list? Sam Ehlinger is a 4 star player and the #5 dual-threat qb in the '17 class. His offer list consists of UT, UH, SMU, and McNeese. Does that mean UT got a crap player or does it mean the other schools didn't waste an offer because he solidly committed to UT the July before his junior season and didn't entertain any other offers? Maybe some are hidden gems, maybe some commit and tell the other teams not to waste an offer. Either way, the only ranking that matters to me is this one.
  5. I wasn't comparing the classes. I was pointing out that you can still get good players late.
  6. Losing Starkel to A&M and Byrns to Okie lite isn't unexpected but they still gave the effort to try and get those guys. Isadore(ranked in one ranking as the #7 juco qb) and Pearson look to be good additions. So ultimately, what is the standard here? # of stars? offer lists? or will wins suffice? and despite what some of you say 5-7 is a STELLAR season after the trash we had last year. Will 5-7 be the expected ceiling next year? No, but writing this season off as anything but a success just shows your lack of patience and propensity to bellyache. Lucky for Darrell Dickey some of you weren't calling the shots in 2000 or we may never have had our bowl run.
  7. The point was, signing day is not yet here. The rankings today are not the rankings in February. We got 2 freshman all-conference members in January last year. No need to bring out the tar or feathers just yet. Also, the precious recruiting rankings had Augie Dibiase rated above Mason Fine and it turns out Fine was pretty good. Ladarius Hamilton was ranked very low also and he turned out to be a good player too. The recruiting rankings didn't account for Bryce English or Demonte Hood either. I'm always leary of the rankings because people like Geoff Ketchum decide that if a 3-star kid gets an offer from Texas, he really should be a 4-star kid. If Texas rescinds that offer and he signs with UNT, well, turns out, I think he belongs at 3-stars after all. Isadore and Pearson look to be really good competition for Mason Fine going into next year. These guys have a plan and are likely working it. Also, what happens if you are a good recruiter and can't put together a good game plan on Saturday? I'll let you two think it over. Our current DC has an answer though.
  8. January 5, 2016 - Bryce English We'll be alright.
  9. Don't you worry Plumm, we have a Willy good running back still healthy.
  10. I just threw our UNT guys about 10 more votes.
  11. im ok with that because it means we won the game
  12. Reminds me of an Adam Sandler bit.....come on, pull out that hog of yours, I wanna see it, haha
  13. Yes but he also said UNT sold 8k tickets out its "box office" meaning entirety of tickets NT sold through the university. We didn't sell 30k tickets but we had that many fans in the stands. Big difference. Most bought at the door, through the bowl site, or through ticketmaster(as I did last time, not this time).
  14. @PlummMeanGreen, please listen again around the 4:05 mark.
  15. That was all due to play calling and Morris' unwillingness to tuck it and run. I know we have 1 quarterback with a 300 yard passing game this year and it isn't the one who played for Nick Saban.
  16. He is a running back now.
  17. Probably the size and speed of athlete too.
  18. I hope this is sarcasm. If not, 11 guys on the defensive side of the ball would like a word with you.
  19. Dang. I swung and missed. Props to you sir.
  20. He also averaged 7.5 per carry at UTEP. He is only a "scat back/3rd down back" because that is all the coaches let him be. Just like the Cowboys and North Texas' all-time leading rusher.
  21. Yes Jeff Wilson is great but Willie Ivery is just as good when given the reps.
  22. My biggest gripe with the kid. For that reason I'd rather have Shanbour out there over Morris if Fine can't go just to keep the defense honest. I'm not the coach which is why I expect Morris to start. That shoulder injury he suffered is no joke. He can still probably throw but I'm sure it hurts like hell and that is when you end up with errant passes.
  23. If this was Vegas, I'd put money on Morris starting. I don't see how Mason can be able to throw pain-free just yet. He could go out there if really needed but I'd bet Morris gets the nod.
  24. Rumor is he is headed back to UT. The lawsuit has to do with their departed track coach having a relationship with one of her athletes. Her argument is that Applewhite also had a relationship with a student(though it wasn't an athlete, just a student trainer) and as a heterosexual, white, able-bodied male coach, he was treated differently than she was as a disabled, black, gay woman.
  25. Haha, I like your style.
