You and I are a dying breed. I am starting to believe more and more that most people think it is the government's job to look after them through tax payer funded programs. The idea that I should look to and ask a politician to take care of me or solve my personal problems is so foreign I cannot understand this thinking.

I agree it is also good to up the competition level, especially when you want to take a program to the next level like Jones has/will. But I disagree somewhat with the analysis on Sam Houston and UTA... they may not be power house schools, but these are legitimate D1 games that we better be ready for....

Exciting stuff! It sounds like we will be a more dynamic team in a number of areas this season.

Nice write up on George Odufuwa (Arizona State), Eric Tramiel (Paris Junior College) and others. I cannot recall if I read this or a former player told me this, but apparently Odufuwa looks amazing at practices. I don't know if anyone has seen Odufuwa up close, but he looks like a big time player... his 240LB is distributed differently than Q or Wooden... more lean and athletic... but dominant looking nonetheless. I saw Odufuwa and Hogans hanging out at the last football game... when you walked by those two, there was no question that they were big time basketball players... should be a very interesting year with Odufuwa's start after 1 year of practice in JJ's system, the ferocious defender in Hogans now a sophomore, and the unknown factor, but apparently high scoring, JC All-American in Tramiel. I also look for McCoy to have a break out senior season. I am extremely excited about this season!! Let's hope the starters can remain injury free unlike last season.

Good ole' SBC... you'd think they'd get this media event quickly back up for replays... I have been checking and nothing yet. I was really hoping to see the interviews with UNT coaches.

I don't think so... They are interviewing the women's coaches and just went from Arkansas State to Troy so I doubt it alphabetical.

I see what is going on now... they will take breaks and then the looped promo comes onto the players... they said the first internview with be in about 5 minutes. I am no impressed with this. I had the player launched at noon and first discussion didn't even start until about 12:30. Why would they advertise a show to start noon only to start it at 12:30 and to not even have the first coach ready for interview until 12:45? I guess they are just doing live coverage on the event and take what they can as the events unfold.

Well, this is disappointing. I was trying to catch part of the show on lunch break. There is a whole-lotta-nothing going on. I just keep getting this looping promo despite the media player saying the show is live right now... I thought maybe it was just running late, but it is already 12:30 and the show started noon.... come on SBC... quality is what is needed if the league is to grow!

As always Rick, thank you for speaking directly to the members of this board. We are truly lucky to have an AD like you. I really appreciate the hard work you and your staff have put in toward bettering our athletics program (and eventually raising the value of my degree too!).

Upon second thought, I don't think the family area in front of Fouts Field (where the various vendor booths and kids' play area are) is called Mean Green Village....whatever this area is called, this is the Miller Lite booth I am talking about.

What is up with the Miller Lite section in the Mean Green Village? They have a big "Welcome UNT Tailgaters" sign to demarcate their border. The first few weeks of the season, the "bouncers" made clear it was a privilege to enter. But whatever, free beer and dogs. This week, you get Miami nightclub attitude saying "This is a private event. You cannot come in. Only Bill Utter Ford and Miller Lite employees can enter." I hung around for about 10-15 minutes (to see if others got pissed with their attitude) only to watch Mean Green fans get turned away who didn't exactly look happy and some downright pissed. I wonder if Bill Utter Ford knows if they are angering a lot of folks in their name? I recall this exact same scenario transpiring last season. If you want to throw a private corporate event, I can tell you that Mean Green Village is NOT the place to do it. It runs counter to fan friendly atmosphere. I can also tell you that I will not be drinking Miller Lite or purchasing a vehicle from Bill Utter Ford any time soon.

I'm glad to see FIU win. Can you believe it? They are 2-0 in the Sunbelt. For the rest of the year, I'm rooting for the ultimate underdog in FIU for Sunbelt champions. I hope that they will give the Mean Green inspiration in this and upcoming seasons.

Sorry Stealth Eagle... even this Mean Green homer doesn't think we will cover the spread. What in the first 5 games suggests that we can? For use to cover, we would have to have a remarkable 1 week turn around in nearly every aspect of the game. I'll be at the game anyway.
