  1. CMJ - shaky - yes, but again this was the tale of 2 halves.... if the team that comes out in half 2 shows up the entire game, we'll have another 20+ win season. Our TOs were down, yet still high (17)... but take a look at our assists.... 17 this game.. I hope this is indicative of things to come... they need to gel and gel fast... I want to beat OSU again so bad that it hurts.
  2. I am still concerned... our first half play reminded me of the TAMU Int game, though we were definitely more lively.... Our defense was stout even in the first half, but Cameron made highly contested shots, especially in the first half, that often were very lucky... I knew it wouldn't keep up...... We came out fired up in the second half, and once again took the game over... the problem is that when up against better competition we have to be on for the entire game.... I still get the feeling that JJ is trying out different rotations and nothing is set yet.....it is obvious that the players are still getting used to each other, especially on offense... defense is very solid. The guards do not seem to feed our big men even when they are working hard... We might have to suffer through a few early OOC loses, but I really think that this team will find itself and when it does, watch out. The team is stacked with talent.
  3. It was definitely loud... we had fun, but we were on the front row and constantly, and I mean constantly, had the game interrupted to let people through....fun for a night, but I want my Super Pit back....
  4. My daughter and I said the same thing... it was fun for 1 night, but it would truly suck if that were our arena.
  5. It is a definite possibility...however, I am more concerned about us playing complete game than blowing them out by 60... of course though, I wouldn't complain about that either...
  6. I have to buy tickets this semester b/c I completed all classes and couldn't register for dissertation until Spring.... anyhow, I was in the ticket office a few hours ago and asked them how tickets sales were and they said they were suprised at how well they were selling... hopefully, we can recreate that crazy deafening atmosphere tonight... I'd really like to experience what other generations of students had before me.
  7. Despite our 31 point exhibition win, this game created more questions than it answered. We have a grueling opening season road schedule so the Mean Green will have to get it together very quickly else start the season with a losing record. I will know after tonight just how confident I am in this team. We are stacked with individual talent. The question is, can the players put together a talented group effort and do so quickly. For tonight, I want a 30+ point win, a 30-50% decrease in turnovers, and to see us handle the press much, much better. On the latter point, I hope that Cameron full presses all game to give these guys more experience with this aspect of the game. I want to see a consistent up tempo effort for the entire game. Coming out timid and flat in the first half like in the exhibition game will certainly cost us some road games.. I'd also like to see the ferocious defense they displayed in the exhibition game. I'm pretty excited about tonight's game because of the Snake Pit factor. Maybe I should bring some ear plugs from what I've read. I hope everyone makes it out.
  8. I wonder if the webmaster at meangreensports.com read your post.... Hogans is now listed at 215Lbs.
  9. Ark State, FAU, USA, and to a lesser extinct, Ark-LR appear to have had their hands full with warm up competition. You never know the circumstances of the game though... I hope this isn't predictive of the overall competitiveness of SBC teams in OOC games.
  10. Mangrum was there last night, but not in uniform. One of my buddies yelled to him to ask when he'll be back... he hand signaled and we think he meant 1 to 2 weeks... if he hasn't been working out much then this is not a good sign for his return any time soon.
  11. I noticed Vito was saying the Ben "Fort" Knox looked pretty good out there.... I'm not so sure about that... we'll have to see in future games if JJ doesn't redshirt him. When Knox entered the game, he wasn't so great (being kind)... he was a few steps slower than the speed of the game and dropped 4 or 5 passes sent to him directly under the basket...reminded me of Howerton in his first 2 seasons.... Knox does seem to be a better defender than offensive player at this point, though I suspect he will foul out quickly in early season games.... I hope it was just nerves tonight for Knox, but something tells me he is better served to sit a year....
  12. Odufuwa is a stud... he nailed long distance shots, had 1 dunk, and looks set to play a dominate role. Tramiel is ready to play big minutes. We played horrible in the first half... flat footed, unsure... toward the end of the first half we started to step it up and in the second half we dominated them. I wouldn't worry about the turn overs just yet. We did play the press horrible. White needs stop being so timid... he stops dribbling and looks to pass if someone just moves in front of him... he might want to consider dribbling around them....I am super busy tonight and will try to post more tomorrow.
  13. You are right about that... this team appears to be stacked....minutes will be hard earned.
  14. I thought maybe he meant Edwards... he hasn't been hear in a while though... I think Steward is good player, but he seems hot or cold. He needs to step it up on a consistent basis if he wants more time this season...
  15. Fort Knox has put on 20-25lbs since joing the team and is currently around 225lbs! Jones says Knox may be ready to compete now, but may wait to read shirt him. Jones went to say that he expects him to get to around 240 over the course of his career.... nice!
  16. The new Mean Green Men's and Women's basketball posters are out. The men's poster is now horizontal (wider than tall) based. It looks really sharp and the players are wearing 1 of 3 uniforms (white, green, and black).... very nice. One problem I noticed is that Fort Knox has either grown a foot since signing, which would put him at just under 8', or they did a poor job of placing his photo in the poster....otherwise it is a great looking poster.....
  17. Good points. I know his offensive contribution were limited, but thought he played some great defense. Hopefully he can smartly bulk up a bit as you suggest. I always wondered why Stewart didn't try to put on some weight.
  18. I really don't know how to tell. He's been out 1 year with injury, and although he contributed for 1 season, it wasn't anything spectacular - just solid - which isn't bad either for a freshman. He grew an inch or two since he played in 2006... He has the potential to turn into another fantastic guard with good size.
  19. I agree... Mansa El and Jo Hall. Brittney James had a rough night shooting, but she has a great looking shot that tells you she can put up some points...
  20. CBL, you think Hogans is mediocre? I saw a ferocious defensive player with an accurate, though seldom used, jump shot last season.... Hogan's weakness was his free throws...
  21. Yep... Super Pit... Exhibition games are free for everyone... bring the family, friends, and neighbors to see this potentially great team play for free...
  22. Nearly the entire game... we forced a ton of turnovers.... I had to leave at about 5 minutes left in the game, but I'm sure it continued.
  23. I saw the girls play... we appeared to be much, much faster and pretty much in control the whole game... even when it was close, it didn't really feel like TWU had a chance... don't get me wrong, it wasn't blow out, but we were obviously the better team.... take a look at the steal stats...TWU simply couldn't adjust to our speed...
  24. I'll definitely be there...I'm pretty eager to see some of our new players in action....
