  1. I just got home from the game. I was disappointed that we let Houston Baptist off the hook. We could have easily beat them by 30 or more. Even when it got close, it never really was, we would just crank up the heat and pull away. The guys lost focus and played to the level of the opponent. JJ even acknowledged that the team lost focus in the post-game interview. Also, Dominique had a beautiful no look, behind back assist that was awesome. White looked much better thought still not playing at his best.... Come on White!! We need you!
  2. Yep. Apparently they used to be D1, then left, and only recently decided to become D1 again. But yes, they are a D1 Independent.
  3. No need to respond. We decided to go to The Day The Earth Stood Still at the Imax. Good luck ladies!! Show those Stangs that UNT athletics rules the Metroplex! We'll be sure to make another game!
  4. I might be able to go with my daughter...... I've never been to SMU. Are we asking for trouble if we wear our green hair? If alone, I would not care, but since I'm with my daughter I do.
  5. Apparently SBC bottom feeders are equal too or worse than the other bottom feeders around the league. Very disappointing. UNO barely beat Houston Baptist, and ULM loses to the "powerhouse" McNeese State. I am going to be pissed if we don't blow out Houston Baptist.
  6. Overall crappy night for the belt. Houston Baptist gave UNO all they could handle. I hope that our game on Monday with HB isn't that close.
  7. This is the team that showed up against Murray State. They are playing absolutely horrible with exceptionally poor shot selection and many unforced turnovers.
  8. I bet that White ends up sliding over to the 2 starting next season and will remain their for the rest of his career at UNT. White's true strength is scoring.
  9. I have to admit I rolled my eyes when I saw your thread. I thought it was going to be another call for Adam McCoy to get more minutes
  10. The new Mean Green Insider (free) is devoted to mostly basketball coverage and includes interviews with JJ and Triston Thompson. There are game highlights from both men's and women's basketball games. There is also a nicely done advertisement for UNT that I hadn't seen though I haven't watched the Mean Green Insider in a while so it may be nothing new. You can watch this video here. Here are some key times if you want to skip through: 0:00 Starts with an extended interview with JJ plus game highlights; Hank forgets we still have to play UTA in OOC play. 15:00 Women's basketball highlights from Valpariso game 20:30 UNT Advertisement 21:00 Interview with Triston; Triston is a obviously a bright and articulate young man. I hope that his big time shooting continues.
  11. I agree with most of your analysis. However, last season our guards were very accurate with the 3. They do have the range, but have been struggling at the 3 so far this season. I think this aspect of our game will improve through the season.
  12. I think the Houston 30 point shellacking ended any hopes of future votes for us.....at least any time soon.
  13. Simple answer.... if Triston and/or Dennis can stay hot through the season... we're going dancing...we have the talent, we just need a consistent scoring leader or two and we will have a fantastic season.... I emphasize though the word "consistent."
  14. I thought the same thing a game or two ago that the pit crew should be shifted over a couple of rows so that they would be connected with the crowd. I've noticed too when watching games on TV with major schools, they often have 1 area of prime time real estate for students. UNT Athletics should try to condense season ticket holders (its not like there are not enough seats and someone in row 2 on one side could get row 2 on the other side) and push the Pit Crew over a few rows.... I think this would give a more intimate feel and even bring out more students due to better seats instead of being shoved in the corner.
  15. I watched the rerun of the game and found it be a very exciting game. There were a ton of fouls, but NCAA officials have realy tightened up on their calls this season. That is the only I thing I can see that may have slowed it down. What I think hurts the excitement for newcomers more than anything is the empty seats for ticket holders.
  16. Ya, Dominique had a 6/1 assist to turnover ratio. He is making a strong case for himself to play more minutes at the point. I hope JJ is watching.
  17. If Triston can keep up the hot streak into conference play, the sky is the limit for this team. We just need one of our guards to consistently take charge and produce big points each game.... it might be Triston... maybe Dennis, but hopefully some will consistently step up.
  18. I'm watching the 2nd half this morning... man, Dominique continues in this game to come up with some sweet assists.... some no look passes under the basket, behind the back under the basket, driving hard to basket and dishing out at the last second, etc. nice!! These are the kind of assists we REALLY need!
  19. Tramiel was be really good player for us. I wish he had more time with the team. As far as Odufuwa, I sure hope that he isn't injured. That is a position we can least afford an injury.
  20. I just watched the replay of the first half.... White looked much quicker tonight... the press didn't seem to bother him near as much... I'll have to watch the second half tomorrow to see how the rest of the game went, especially with White.
  21. Just noticed.. they are streaming replays of tonight's games (men's and women's) for free!! Go MeanGreenSports!!
  22. This is totally unacceptable. Email Rick at the athletics department. I doubt they would tolerate this. Heck, at the Cameron game they actually gave a fan in the front row a UNT shirt just to cover up a UT shirt.
  23. I just got home and looked at the stats...Looks like Eric, Dominique, Triston, and Collin had fantastic games!!! Hogans also put up 6 points on 50% shooting, 4 rebounds, and 1 block in 17 minutes... nice! I've been calling on Eric and Hogans to get more minutes... it looks like Eric did, but I am still amazed that Hogans has not... he is ferocious defender and one of the most accurate shooters on the team. It also looks like White had a horrible game... 2 points, 1 assist and 5 TO's. I noticed his minutes got cut too... I've been very concerned about White. He is a talented player, but I fear that his trying to become a "true point guard" hurts the best part of his game: getting to the basket and scoring. White looks like he is running on slow right now...very timid.... he was faster and more accurate his freshman season. I really like White, and I hope that whatever funk he is in ends soon. We really need him. Overall nice win!! I was concerned about this game and glad to see the "W".
