FAU had a commanding lead but appears to be just holding on... up 8 with 2 minutes left.
-
I'll be watching the game on ESPN360 and as soon as it ends I am rushing up to the stadium!!
-
When I checked a Vegas site last night, they had us +16.
-
Actually I meant the OSUs, who we play Saturday, of the world... fixed!

Here's a quick overview of last nights game as I saw it: Josh White - What you can say other than he picked the team up on his shoulders and carried them to victory. At times, he appeared to dribble to much when a pass was the best option. I am getting closer to agreeing, after initially refuting, that he might be best at the 2. Dominique Johnson - His exceptional speed really changed up the game for the short time he was in. I really like Johnson at the point. Shoulder pain froze him after he stole the ball. All he could do was lob a 3-point shot and leave the game. I fear that Dominique won't be 100% for quite a while.... disappointing. George Odufuwa - what a game he played! We can expect many more wins if G.O. plays like this each game. Scoring plus rebounds! Improved free throw shooting too! A man among boys when rebounding. Alzee Williams - pleasant, pleasant surprise. He looked good last night and made some clutch free throws. He's skinny, but I noticed when he changed his shirt at the bench that he is really ripped. Alzee may turn out be a golden find by Jones. We may yet again in the coming years have some talented height at PG. Jacob Holmen - Holmen really shined last night. I think we got a glimpse of the greatness that he will develop into. A super athlete. He will play serious minutes this season as freshman. He takes occasionally ill advised shots, particularly the 3. However, I have watched him in warm-ups and he sinks the 3 consistently. It is just a matter of time before we have an outside threat from a big men. This will really open up the lane for our other big men b/c when Holmen goes outside he will force their post-man to follow. Shannon Shorter - if not for a few missed easy, close up shots he would have had a spectacular night.... Shannon could easily become the McCoy style play we saw at the end of last season. Eric Tramiel - steady as always. Good, but not great game. He appeared to re-injure his wrist again.... I really hope not b/c we really need him in the line up! Triston Thompson - not his best game, but a consistent effort. He still needs to work on the offensive charges that seem to get called on him each game. I do love his aggressiveness to the basket though. Richard Thomas - May be the victim of a loaded bench. He barely made it on the floor last night despite looking good the past 2 games. I suspect that he might develop into a Sturns style role with big things to come for Mr. Thomas. Few general comments: My biggest concern for this team is that we have started slow now for all 3 games. This will KILL us against the OSUs and TAMUs of the world. JJ needs to fix this quickly....... I noticed some frustration in our big men plus Shorter when Josh more or less stopped distributing the ball to the post or failed to hit Shorter when he slashed/cut to the basket and was open. In fact, I noticed our big men standing around from time to time under the basket knowing they wouldn't get the ball...... Did anyone catch that we had 3 PGs in the game from time-to-time (Johnson/White/Williams)... haven't seen that one before....... JJ has enormous confidence in our new players as we had freshman or newly transferred players on the floor throughout the game, including in critical overtime moments...... Last, I cannot think of a better style game to break in our new players, get the freshman/transfers March-like basketball experience in preparation for OU and TAMU, and to harden this team for long, hard close games that surely await us.

Just got home from the game... what a crazy one... I'm friggin exhausted... I can only imagine how our boys feel.... I'll probably post some comments on the game tomorrow... I'm going to bed!
-
i'll be there. i just got off of work in dallas and headed over to arlington to beat the traffic. i'm at toms burgers just down the street wasting time.....you can order any beer here as long as it is miller high life. i'll look for the other mean green faithful to sit with at the game....pretty excited to see this team play against better competition.
-
I had hoped that what I saw against TWU was just jitters and being out of sync.... doesn't look like a great season for the ladies.... Man do I hope that JJ's team delivers this season....
-
The whole student section started laughing.... and no one had to say why... the resemblance at that point was uncanny.... I feel for Ft. Knox because he will have to overcome some crowd bias toward 6'10" white guys on this team... hopefully he will...
-
Wichita State played Newman a few days ago and won by 12. This is a decent comparison game. For what its worth, it sounds like Newman gave them a good fight up until the end whereas we pretty much blew out Newman... You read the Witchita/Newman game here.
-
Richard Thomas look great... really polished... Shorter also looks like he could be something special.... Holmen did look a little nervous but stepped it up as the game went on.... We all had Howerton flashbacks when Ft. Knox drop a pass under the basket. I saw a couple of players sitting on the bench that I had never seen. I checked our roster and sure enough there are 2 new players, presumably walk ons: Egenti, Jamie...F...6-8...265...Jr.....Watauga, TX (North Lake College) (Haltom HS) Hall, Tyler...G....6-2...175...South Pampa, TX (Pampa HS)

Did you go to the game?
-
My daughter and I and 1 friend will be there tonight!! I have waited so long for this, and the crappy football season made this wait seem even longer and more painful than it was.... Very excited to see some of our new talent hit the floor...
-
I went to the game. The ladies found themselves in the 2nd half; however, TWU really came to play that game and had deadly shooting. TWU earned that one. I think it will be a wake up call for our ladies and probably tripled the intensity in practice so I think some good can some out of this loss.. thankfully it was only an exhibition.
-
What I forgot to mention is that UNT #5... she has "it"... very fast.. looks very polished... will be a big contributor with James...
-
Britney James looked great in the 2nd half....I don't keep up with the ladies team well enough to know all their names or who is new... I check our roster tomorrow and post a few comments on those I can remember...
-
Ladies lost by a few points. Valiant try at a come back when down by 18 or so... our ladies really stunk it up in the first half, but really stepped it up on the second half.... they had many chances to win but couldn't seal it. the refs made really poor calls against both teams and missed the obvious ones... I wish the female ref would have swallowed her whistle...

The dilemma that T. Dodge faces is that we are a supremely better offense with R. Dodge running the ball... when Riley runs/scrambles it really opens up the office and he has top notch speed.... the problem is that it is difficult to run QB on a consistent basis in D-1 without injuries creeping in, which they already have... it is a true dilemma... run Riley and win versus run Riley and risk injury.

Meangreensports.com released the free video preview of the mens and women's 2009-2010 basketball season. They talk up Alzee Williams and Richard Thomas as highlights in practice. Includes an interview with Tramiel who says that Knox has significantly improved since last year. Visit meangreensports.com and the video is featured on the front page... kinda short, about 5 minutes.. I am pretty excited about this season!

Well, my analysis sucked. We got blown out pretty bad with limited turnovers, at least, before I fell asleep during the 2Q...I don't know how we fared after that... I haven't turned off a Mean Green game ever, but that was too much to bare. Very disappointing.
-
This Mean Green football team could easily be 3-2 or even 4-2 if it not for few key turnovers or botched plays. Granted that this is what losing teams always say. Nonetheless, our 1-5 record is not reflective of the quality of players and accomplishments that have taken place this season. If we play fairly mistake free football, Troy will have all they can handle.
-
"True, but we had no resemblance of a D-1 team. It doesn't matter what you do if you can't stop the other team's offense or defense.... turnovers will make a difference in this game in my estimation." Corrected my own post.

-
For me, the outcome is simple. Whoever wins the turnover battle, wins the game.

Player bios for the entire roster are now up. The season is really close to starting.... pretty excited about this team! My family and I may try to make the OSU game too.
