  1. That was a pleasant surprise of a win. We really seemed to fire on all cylinders. We are simply a completely different team with a healthy Eric Tramiel. He makes everyone better with his contributions and leadership. Hands down our most important player on the team. We cannot win reliably without him playing 30 minutes or more per game with good health.
  2. I noticed several new faces during warm ups at the last game. I just checked the roster and sure enough there are two new names added. Bios are not available yet. I assume that they are walk on's. Egenti, Jamie: F, 6-8, 265Lb, Jr., Watauga, TX (North Lake College) (Haltom HS) Hall, Tyler: G, 6-2, 175LB, Soph, Pampa, TX (Pampa HS)
  3. Denver vs. Monroe FIU vs. WKU ArkState vs North Texas FAU vs. MTSU ULL vs. UALR Troy vs. South Alabama 64-53 ULM beat Denver... what a gift. With a win tonight, we will only be 1 game out of first place in the West. What crazy, wacky conference this is!!
  4. Pretty good scenario tonight... Mean Green win and Denver loss... to bad it was a loss to ULL...
  5. nail biter of a game!
  6. I'll feel a whole lot better about our FIU loss if they can beat MTSU... I still have a sour taste from that loss...
  7. White is really tearing it up with his shooting...
  8. I've wondered recently given our scoring difficulties if it might be worthwhile to try Shorter as the point and move Josh over to the 2 so that Josh can focus on scoring.... Shorter ran the point for stretches againt UTA and did a great job bringing the down the court. I know Shorter can be turnover prone, but with more time at the point that might improve... Just an idea...
  9. This is really bad... the Ark State game continued... maybe worse... turn overs all over the place and no discernible offensive rhythm or direction.
  10. I missed my first game of the season today so I still need to catch up... but one stat that really caught my attention is Shannon Shorter with 7 assists and only 1 turn over..... and as a team we had 23 assists with 12 turnovers.... I noticed too that George had 20 points... My guess is that a fair amount of these assists went to George... nice!! Feeding the big men really opens shots for the guards on the perimeter.... they are not the UALR of last season, but that is still a nice road win.
  11. what is it about our man-to-man defense that isn't lock down??? I can't figure it out. When you watch the game, the guys are often hustling their butts off chasing the other players in the 1:1 scheme.... but the stats always tell a different story... Another thing - I recall when we played Texas A&M, their announcers wondered aloud as to why make no defensive adjustments, noting that our post could not handle their post (forgot his name) one-on-one and there was no helpside defense or defensive scheme changes... they basically observed we have 1 defensive style and were befuddled by our lack of adjustment.... can someone with technical knowledge of defensive comment on these factors? I'd like a coach level explanation of this so I can better understand it...
  12. I'm still pissed off about the FIU loss. Completely uninspired basketball... what an embarrassment. Believe it or not, I came close to abandoning this team after that game. And I've never felt that way after any game so you know I was unhappy. A cooler head prevailed and I attended the very next game to watch them manhandle a decent S.E. Louisiana team.
  13. My daughter and I talked with Calvin Watson after the game... he is playing in Europe for Hungary... Calvin is such a nice guy and great person... He is my daughter's all time favorite player... Calvin use to pay special attention to Hailee at the games and press conferences... it's been several years and he remembered my daughter, asked her how's she is doing... really took time to talk to her and find out how's she doing... talked about his time in Europe...and said he plans to come work out the UNT team in the Spring (I think)... told my daughter to stay in school, listen to her parents and not her friends, work hard in basketball, and that he wants to see her to do well in life... he is a great role model and one of the UNT greats...
  14. I talked with Dominque before the game... he said he would apply for a medical red shirt and that he thought he probably would get it... great news!!
  15. That loss to FIU was a terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible loss. And also embarrassing and inexcusable.
  16. I hope that FIU can delivery us a Christmas gift with an upset win over Denver.
  17. Ok. Ok. I get it. It was an honest mistake. And my naivety doesn't excuse it either.. believe me, if I thought it offensive like that (1) I wouldn't have said it in the first place and (2) I certainly wouldn't post it to a public forum.
  18. On a different note... Tramiel is really, really banged up... He grimaces quite often when he uses his left hand, which taped up in all different directions... he also limps around after plays... and then that big flagrant foul...I thought him through playing for while, maybe a couple of games... the crowd went nuts when he returned to the court after he left... the crowd chanted "Eric, Eric" for quite a while... I'm sure he appreciated the crowd noticing his tough play... I sure hope he can make it through the season.. he is pretty bang up for only the first month of the season.
  19. I had no idea it would be interpreted like that... I'll definitely chose another food next time I heckle...
  20. It had nothing to do with race... at all.. it had everything to do with his prodigious girth.
  21. That was great! I am not sure why, but my "hey Turner, we have some fried chicken up here" really seemed to set him off... I am not sure why it created such an angry reaction given what was already said about his weight, his mama, his poor shot, and other things I cannot repeat.
  22. It was "if you fight as bad as you shoot, then I am not scared of you" ...the whole ULM bench, including Turner, started laughing... this game was something else...
  23. Pit Crew was in the house today!! I can say with confidence that we affected the outcome of the game... we had their players focused on us in the 2nd half... really got under Turner's skin... he told us to "meet him outside after the game" at one point... in fact, I thought he was coming over to us when an assistant coach told him to sit down....he had a few words with assistant and then set down... the rest of their bench were either cracking up or visibly pissed at us... Fabio didn't know what to do with us calling his name over and over... he'd get this goofy smile... Fuselier kept trying to hide his smile at the jokes... it was a true 3 ring circus put on by your Pit Crew... I can even begin to write all the things that were said between the Pit Crew and ULM.
  24. Turned out to be a really poor day for the SBC. Losing across the board won't help our conference rankings, especially given the quality of the some of the teams that beat up on the Belt.
