  1. I noticed on the actual meangreensports website they have conflicting times between the schedule page and the "ads" they are running for the game on their website.
  2. Terrible, terrible day for CUSA
  3. That last fumble at the end of the game was very unfortunate. But it does give Mac something to ream on during this week's practice.
  4. Not proud of the loss, but very proud of the effort in the face of a near insurmountable win - at least at this stage of our complete rebuild by Coach Mac. Apparently, someone forgot to tell the Mean Green that they were suppose to lay down and lose. We played with heart and passion from the mid-2nd Q onward. We did not play confident early on, and LSU took advantage of this - over half of the LSU points (21) were put up in the first 16 minutes. Then you could see the Mean Green getting their feet beneath them - first the defense and then the offense. They started to believe that they could play against these guys. They lost their timidness and started hitting hard and throwing their body's into the tackles. On offense, where it not for several major drops, at least 2 that I can think of for big time yards, our passing game (and the possibly the final score) would have looked much better. And no sacks allowed either - beautiful!. All in all there is so much for Mac to build on. This team could have great season depending on how they handle this loss and whether or not they grow from it - which I know Mac will see to it that they handle it properly.
  5. He did say, my North Texas FAM (family) and LSU football. He considers us family as he should... and he rooting for LSU FOOTBALL. He did not have much to root for with UNT football during his time here. I can completely understand a guy rooting for a local team that he grew up with even after attending another university... hopefully though, his exclusive allegiance is to UNT basketball.
  6. Respect is earned, not requested or demanded. We have achieved absolutely nothing in football since 2004 that garners any respect whatsoever. Sad, but true.
  7. Great news!
  8. Wow. Gave him some Marquette apparel (translation: t-shirt) and a ride home. People losing careers over this. Reminds me of the NCAA silliness where you can give a player a bagel without violation, but if you put cream cheese on it, it is considered buying the athlete a meal and a violation. Or how about the university can get into trouble if a fan talks to a recruit at a game. More NCAA madness. When will this stop?
  9. LSU watching party? Or Mean Green watching party?
  10. We don't know that Benford kicked him off the team. Benford might have been very frank with Trey, and told him that he has no chance whatsoever of playing time on this team, and that he will receive a full release if he so chooses. With the level of talent on this team now, Benford may have been doing him a favor so that he did not end up on a bench for most of his college career. Pure speculation on my part, but so is everything else in this thread.
  11. I am so excited that UTSA is in our conference. I received my Bachelors at UTSA on the way to my PhD at UNT. Of course, I only cheer for the green. Why I am so excited is that I moved to Corpus last summer so I'll get to watch the Mean Green when we play in San Antonio! Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. They didn't mention the team for pre-NIT tourney. I guess they haven't been decided?
  13. Yes. Tony Mitchell alone, never mind Chris Jones, Roger Franklin, Jordan Williams and others, is the highest rated player ever to play b-ball for us. Heck, I think he was one of if not the highest rated player to ever play in the Sunbelt. Star ratings when they came to UNT: Tony 5*, Roger Franklin 4*, Chris Jones 3* (probably should have been 4*), and Jordan 3*. I cannot recall the others... Tell me when we have had a better team on paper?
  14. I personally believe the comment about CJ to be true. I could not believe my eyes when I saw him play. He appears to have NBA potential in my opinion. CJ immediately reminded me of Chris Paul with his smooth and talented ball handling and silky shots, especially his tear drop-like runs at the basket. Granted CJ needs to work on TO's but I think we can expect great things from him over the next 3 years.
  15. This question would answer itself if you walked into a typical SMU football or basketball game and saw their "crowd," or the lack thereof. They are no ND. But I still hope they are delusional enough to go independent. That would be fun to watch.
  16. True. I know it bad for players who get booted, but what are we holding on too? Though much improved, this team was around .500 last season. I would fully expect player changes from the new coach. And Hannah Christian appears to be a step in the right direction.
  17. She has fantastic credentials ... nationally ranked guard, really nice numbers (points and assists), and a former TCU player/JC transfer.
  18. I voted LaTech. There seems to be some real disgruntlement between them and us... kind of reminds me of our relationship with SMU. LaTech will have a fit if they loose to a former SBC team, which they openly disdained our former conference. But this is what builds fierce rivalries between teams.. We may not beat them right away in football, but I look forward to blasting them in bball.
  19. Been a ton of good things happening since I started rooting for the Green in 2005. But this has to be one of the most exciting, though the football stadium and NCAA tourney visits in BBall are right up there with this!
  20. I guess no news is good news in this case.
  21. I thought UTEP was going to MWC?
  22. Thanks! That worked! I looked around in the old video but I guess it wasn't posted yet.
  23. I can't find the press conference in the available videos. What am I missing?
