Thanks for the welcome. I post often but try not to overstep my bounds. There are people in the forum that obviously have a far better technical knowledge of football than me. Back to Phillips - I have to ask the question: given his stats and performance in the first 2 games (64 net yards of offense), would he receive compliments (admittedly, I am not sure how to classify what DD said about Phillips) from other D1A coaches outside the Sunbelt? Do we have lowered expectations and don't even realize it? Do we reward sub-par performance for a D1A team? I don't know... I am not anti-Phillips, I hear and read he is great guy. But I demand that our QB produce points for us, and accept nothing less. That didn't happen last season, and hasn't so far this season.

Didn't know that. Admittedly, I am a new fan of a robust 1 year. I joined Mean Green Premium and having been listening to more stuff.. .guess I never noticed it before...thanks for pointing that out...

I agree. When I re-watched the game Matt looked alot sharper! But no points though.

hehe... your right.. I seem to be sleeping and studying alot less since I joined the forum Matt has had 13 yards net offense from these 2 games. This is disturbing to hear that coach believes he hasn't played "that bad."

I just listened to yesterday's DD press conference. DD sounded a little sick (coughing often). DD discussed Wilson's strengths and weaknesses, most of which I agreed with. DD also said definitively, we will have 2 QB's play at Tulsa. Overall, it was a good press conference. Two comments concerned me though: 1. DD said Matt Phillips really hasn't played that bad. He said Matt makes few errors, but just hasn't been able to move the ball. Huh? What kind of criteria is this? We can't win ball games if we don't move the ball. WE WANT TO WIN GAMES. I can't take another 2-9 season. 2. DD said that they select QB's based on each QB's strengths that will give us the best chance to win, as well as which QB shows he can MOVE THE CHAINS. Huh? I didn't realize there was any question. In fact, I was on the Matt train before Woody came around. I just get irritated when I hear the coach say something that does not stand up to the FACTS. I know Wilson is young, needs to learn alot, will make tons of mistakes, and will probably get hurt at some point. But, right now he is our best hope of a winning season. DD, LET WOODY PLAY THE ENTIRE GAME UNLESS HE REALLY SCREWS UP.

I know half the reason is their head coach's attitude. There was article posted recently in this forum where he said basically I expect to our boys to win no matter what, they are a D1A team and can handle tough games.. He also looked forward to the games against the big boys, and their recent performance against #9 Florida leads me to believe I have zero reasons to doubt what he says. We have our work cut out for us with Troy.

No.. hadn't checked yet... I was thinking about driving up there.. but probably won't now.

One more thing... often times if you go to an opponents website when we play out of town, you can usually purchase a single game to view on the internet. Hope this helps..

They only broadcast home games. I had mean green premium last year, and missed the "features" link. Apparently they archive games from the current season here. Right now they have the SMU game that you can rewatch.

No doubt. My biggest fear is that Woody will be hurt... .then what? Daniel and Matt should be ready to play at all times. I hate to say it, but my stomach churns when I think of going back to last year's offensive QB's... nonetheless, I really hope that Matt or Daniel will be able to contribute to our newfound offensive progress, if they have to relieve Woody.

I sure don't like 2/3 of these options. Is this the best way to prepare for a game? I thought a team should prepare for a down in the trenches, hard fought game. To say Woody WILL BE pulled before seeing him play is weird, and partly responsible for my speculation earlier in this post. It seems from what I've read, no one can offer a reasonable explanation. So - as over analyzed as I may have been earlier, it may not be to far from the truth either.

Check out the current thread on this topic called "UNT names Wilson starting QB." There is a good ongoing conversation about this article.

I thought I misread the article. I went back and re-read it. It says, "While Wilson will start against Tulsa, Dickey said another quarterback will play against the Golden Hurricane. The quarterback Dickey picks to come off the bench will be determined by the game situation." Notice the "will play" part. This is a news article, subject to all the mis-quotes, paraphrasing, etc. But, that is what the articles reports.

Woody seems to be the cure for a not-so-strong offensive line..he keeps everyone honest by not letting them load up on the line, knowing that if he breaks threw the line or outside he is long gone before you can say 7 points.

I really don't think so. It is archived on Mean Green Premium. I wanted to download it for future viewing and couldn't. It launches its own Windows Media viewer and never gives the "save as" option.

This is where my previous long winded rant originated. I had this line of thinking creep up after DD's comments following the UT game. I held back to see if my observations had any shred of reality. It is odd that he would announce this. It's as if he has promises to fulfill, no matter what the costs. I am sure half the posters are like "shut the hell up with this" - but think about it - what could propel a man to announce that Woody will be relieved from the game, before even seeing how he performs??????

This is a different scenario. I'd consider rotating too. Does this mean that DD expects us to be behind by announcing ahead of time he will rotate QB's? I seriously doubt it. I'll stick with my rant until I hear something else I like better.
