  1. It is possible that the archived footage streams from our UNT servers... and the live feed will come from the XO servers... god I hope so, the video is choppy today. I don't want to miss that game!
  2. I was trying to watch video archive footage earlier today and it was really bad. I am on a 300K line too. I hope the game isn't like this.
  3. Hell, I wish... the Healthcare industry isn't what it once b/c of managed care.
  4. Hehe...I wish I could do a dissertation on North Texas sports and fans. I am working on a doctoral degree in Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine. I am also the technical coordinator for the UNT Neurotherapy Lab, and run a small computer rescue business (to $urvive). No doubt I am extremely busy, but I have always wanted to be a part of a school with a D1A sports. I have degrees from UT-San Antonio and Texas A&M-Corpus, so I've never experienced this kind of sporting excitement (and head aches!)!! I am a good student (4.0 GPA after 80 or so graduate hours) and multi-task quite well, if that is what you’re wondering. Einstein was brilliant, I just work really hard. But, you are correct... I really enjoy this board and UNT sports fans, probably too much. In fact, I've gotta watch out, I might be developing OCD for GMG.com!
  5. hehe... maybe you are correct. I wasn't around so I cannot judge this comment.
  6. I wonder if D "K8ITB" D is aware of his OOC record? You'd be surprised how skewed people's thinking can be. He speaks as if he doesn't realize how poorly he has played against non-SBC competition. I wonder if he only remembers the SBC wins and rare OOC win to justify his signature "offensive approach?" ................or........................maybe he believes so strongly in the DD signature "offensive" just doesn't give sh*t, no matter what the cost. One last thing: I propose that anytime anyone on this board says the word offense in relation to our football team, we put it in quotes, as in "offense." This is the most accurate way to present it as our "offense" only loosely captures or resembles the meaning this word.
  7. Talon90 - excellent work here. I love your post. I have posted some harsh words for D "K8ITB" D and Ramon "I keep all the offensive plays on my ten digits" Flannigan. To tell you the truth, I could support them (don't hit me). I am somewhat indifferent to who coaches our team. My only criteria for my support is, well, to win football games. DD pulled us out of the rubble with his Sunbelt streak run of wins and bowl games. However, the time has come to move past SBC wins only. I don't see how this will happen now b/c we couldn't do it when we peaked in 2004. Will we be able to put together better teams with better OOC game plans that will win? I don't know, but can only hope. Hopefully, DD will dig DEEP in his bag of tricks. I am ready to support him if he does. But he better do it quick, the troops are getting restless.
  8. Just a personal reflection on this past week’s posts and the upcoming game.....we started with a flurry of angry and anxious activity that was mostly directed at our coaches after the Tulsa loss; but over the past few days GMG has been relatively calm and posts have slowed considerably - in fact, I think this is the slowest past few days I've seen since I joined in August. Perhaps everything that needed to be said, was said. Akron is a pivotal game, at least for GMG members. Win or lose, expect another intense week of posts following the game. I don't think GMG members are unreasonable either. We want to win or be defeated in a knock-down-drag-it-out fight. Blow outs are not acceptable and do not represent the name MEAN Green. The message to DD: We want to win each game, every game. Nonetheless, we can accept and will be proud of hard fought, in your face, well-coached loses. The time is now, start in Akron.
  9. Hell has frozen over. D "K8ITB" D has an enlightened moment. To bad the problem started in 2005 and the solution was only recently discovered (1/4 of the into the 2006 season). Hopefully in Akron, our "offensive attack" will reflect this ground breaking, light bulb moment for D "K8ITB" D. Moreover, I hope D "K8ITB" D remembers to tell Ramon "I keep all the plays on my 10 digits" Flannigan about the new "game plan."
  10. I think you misred that. It was $14.00 per credit hour. Full time for Grad students are 9-12 hours/semester, while full-time Undergrads are 12-15/semester (I think). Hehehe.. I love this board... y'all crack me up!
  11. My biggest fear is that you are correct in regards to Dickey's success. Were we that good, or were they that bad? Hopefully, Dickey will respond to the increased SBC competition, and thus make us even more competitive against OOC teams.
  12. I looked it up and you are definitely on track. I think sporting events fall under "recreational activities." Here is the fee UNT charges: Student Service Fees $14.00 per hour 15 hour maximum charge in Fall/Spring 7.5 hour maximum charge in Summer sessions Student service fees are assessed in proportion to the number of semester credit hours for which a student registers to cover the cost of student services that directly involve or benefit students, including, but not limited to, recreational activities, artist and lecture series, cultural entertainment series, debating and oratorical activities and student government. I wonder how much of this actually goes to the athletics department? I would think sporting events draw more than any other school activity. I wonder if the fee distribution reflects this?
  13. Thanks for the information. I had no idea. I'll have to check my student fees again. I am happy to hear that I contribute to the athletics department and didn't even know it!!
  14. Typical "I keep 8 in the Box" game plan - Arkon blows us out; score: WOW - 0 New DD "let's turn Woody and our offense loose" game plan - score: 24 - 21 North Texas;
  15. I doubt that to be true......but............................I accept the nomination.
  16. How would one go about promoting this idea? Also, I suspect only the school will determine performance criteria.
  17. You make the assumption that football is the only sport we have. We have basketball, soccer, etc. I doubt every student would go to football. But many others might go to basketball or other sports. Besides if we start filling up our football stadium with paid students, how is this a problem? These are the kind of problems YOU WANT TO HAVE! If 30,000+ students a game turn out at $100/year, than we need a bigger stadium! And they will have the additional millions in revenue to justify building one. Think about this, it's a good idea. We can't wait for "good seasons" to start to do this. We need to do this to have good seasons.
  18. maybe, but they'd get over it... believe me, tuition or fees (not sure which, but I think it is the fees) constantly go up.. everyone complains, but everyone keeps coming back. If they don't like it, stay away from a D1A college and attend a community college.
  19. True, but then most coaches aren't having QB competition 4 games into the season. The last interview with D "K8ITB" D, he said, I probably need to have Woody start taking most of snaps in practice to get him more familiar with our offense. BRILLIANT.
  20. As many of you know now, I am current UNT student. The last thing I want to see happen is for my UNT fees (or tuition) to increase. However, maybe UNT should consider charging all students $100/year ($50/semester) or whatever to cover tickets to all sporting events. Currently, all students get in free. It wouldn't make much difference in my loans received. Moreover, $100 per 33,000 students = millions. Most major schools do this, and students that come to UNT from other schools are surprised that we don't already. Charging students for sporting events would also: (1) get more students out to games (2) make a definitive statement about the value and commitment to UNT sports (3) fund more things like we discuss in the forum. The millions received plus #1, #2, and #3 will obviously create a situation that will continuously feed itself and kick the Mean Green train into full steam ahead. The benefits could be enormous in terms of revenue, recruiting, stadiums, fans support, etc.
  21. Great take. Perhaps you are right. I sure hope so. Under the scenario you presented, a win in Akron would really demonstrate to me that we have hope in the coaching department.
  22. So, in a nutshell, you believe that Meager should be starting?
  23. One of the forum members stated that Troy is kinda like Fresno State (I think this is the team).... scaring or outright beating teams they shouldn't and losing to teams during conference play that they should beat. I'll stick with "worries me" for now.
  24. I agree. Lord knows that forum members can handle losing games, else this board would be vacant... it is more about HOW we lose.
  25. Actually, I predict we'll win most SBC games, though Troy worries me. All of our SBC games were very close last year, and we have a much better team this year. Unless the other SBC teams have drastically improved, I think we'll win the SBC title. Hopefully, DD & Co. won't make me eat a slice of humble pie at the end of the season.
