  1. I am so excited about this game. My Dad & I are best friends, and he is flying up from C.C. to watch this game with me.... this will be our first father/son football game... only took 37 years..Everyone is freaked out right now on the boards, but I think we are going to be extremely competitive in conference ball.... could go all the way if DD & Co continue the offense they started in the SMU and Akron game. I hope to see a resounding victory against MTSU for our first game together!
  2. I'm with ya. I've done my load of criticism...no doubt. In a previous post I demanded that DD show us a more dynamic offense, and if we were lose, to go down in a bare knuckles fight. I think our boys gave that to us last night. They fought their asses off despite going down twenty points or more right off the bat. It was our special teams that let us down last night, and gave us no chance to win. Nevertheless, I am so proud of our boys. They never quit. In fact, DD & Co played to win... going on 4th downs, on-side kicks, mixing up the play calling, letting Woody move around... It was different game then the Tulsa loss. Oddly enough, I think our team learned so much from the Akron loss that they will have a great game at MTSU. My Dad's flying up to watch the game with me.. I can't wait.
  3. You are right on with this comment. Folks, approximately 160 yards of Akron's 300 yards of total offense came from punt returns. Difficult to win with our special teams play this game. Woody Wilson didn't look as sharp, not bad but not great either. But let's face it, he is essentially a freshman QB that hasn't taken a D1A snap before this season. He may not be the immediate savior we hoped he was, but he will be a DAMN GOOD QB. Look for him to develop over the season into a dynamic QB with his run/pass threat. Lastly, we have our work cut-out for us with improving the red zone offense. I wasn't happy with the loss either, but I can't stay mad 100% of the season. I want to enjoy the games too, and believe or not, the Akron game gave me some hope (Yes, I know I'll get blasted for these comments. Oh well).
  4. I heard the inept comment too... didn't like it either..... I'm sorry, but I can't credit our 2nd half with "they didn't care." I seriously doubt that. We played good in the second half.. come on, you can say it.... we just didn't score at the end of our drives at their end zone... and yes, I know, that's what counts. Nonetheless, that was worlds different than our offensive play against Tulsa.
  5. You take a difficult position. Your statements suggest the coaching staff wants to lose a game. I seriously doubt that. We have to hold our players somewhat responsible. However, I do agree that our coaches hold much responsibility for our play this season. I have been very critical this past few weeks, but I like what I saw in the second half. When reviewing film this week, our offense can actually move past, "how do we move the ball" to "how do we score when we have the ball in the red zone." Our special teams, however, have their work cut out for them this week of practice. Their play was horrible on kick returns, and cost us any chance of a win.
  6. Believe me, I understand your frustration. I advise you to go look at the ending game offensive stats. I suspect you'll see a different game than the score (I haven't seen them yet). We simply didn't capitalize on NUMEROUS opportunities to score (and win), especially in the 3 and 4Q. Perhaps this is how it will be the rest of season, but perhaps not. I can't be angry at our team all the time.
  7. What about the 3rd and 4th quarter? I thought we dominated those quarters (admittedly, without points of course). Even Akron announcers would getting nervous and complimenting our play....I don't know Akron well enough to say they had 2nd string in the 3Q and 4Q but I suspect hey didn't given our offensive/defensive play as well as several opportunities to come back.
  8. If DD and RF learned anything today, it's take chances on offense. They saw the result against SMU, and we dominated the 2nd half tonight...Woody is basically a freshman QB, let him go out there and learn and screw up......we have momentum going into our next home game. MTSU is getting blown out tonight, worse than our UT loss. I think we'll open conference play with a decent win next week against them.
  9. I assume you are responding to gangrene? I thought DD had victory in his eyes for the 2nd half, and expressed on honest assessment of our first half play. DD & Co. went for the win in the 2nd half. I don't care what anyone says.
  10. First time this season. That might be true, but I've only been around for 1 year. Every interview, news article, and video I've seen he seems to deflect responsibility. We complain he won't take responsibility so you have to at least compliment when he does... you can't have it both ways...
  11. I just posted an opposite view of his comments.. we'll have to work it out over the this week of posts....
  12. In the radio interview, he just started it off as, "I did a poor job of getting this team ready to play in the first quarter." He didn't qualify it or anything. Holy sh*t!...... he just said again, "I did a poor job getting them out of gate ready to play in the 1Q." I am proud of him. I can accept this, and even respect this. DD: have them ready for next week.
  13. I didn't know they had 2 string players in... are you sure?
  14. I'm sorry, but we dominated the 2nd half. Keep in mind that was the first time Woody and the offense got to play together for almost (minus 2:00 in the 4Q) a full game. Admittedly, Woody didn't look as sharp in the passing. Akron completed almost 150 yards or more in punt return yards.....you can't win with those numbers.... I can say definitively though, our offensive was 200% more dynamic and productive, and I haven't even seen the stats.... DD and Co. definitely took chances (went on 4th down several times, on-side kicks, etc., etc.) in this game. Hopefully, we can build on this second half performance. Conference starts next week.
  15. I was thinking the same thing... we have really turned it up a notch... I like what I am seeing... We got walloped in the first half, and are playing to win in the second. Next week, we work on goal line offensive.
  16. your right, but I am liking this improved look on offensive... even the announcers are concerned that Akron isn't putting the game away...
  17. The coaching staff is definitely changing this game up on offense... to bad it got away early.. looks like we can dog special teams all week...
  18. I have to say, DD & Co appear to be mixing it up a bit right now...
  19. this funny... the Akron announcers are on the air during commercials and they don't know it.. they are laughing it up at this game...made a few choice comments... oh well, we probably deserve whatever the announcers want to serve up...
  20. Even weirder, sometimes I can only get audio only, on the video feeds from archived video. I initially could get everything fine in IE and firefox. Then I couldn't get video in either....then tried Opera.. bingo! I even got full screen for the first time. I just went back to meangreensports and I'll be damn if Opera only gives audio now.. weird... I thought maybe it is a cache thing, but no success.
