Please forgive me if I get the details wrong, the game was so long that everything is blending together... The KEY play (and most exciting) play, probably 3rd or 4th overtime, FIU gets into the endzone.. oh sh*t!! but wait, officials are reviewing the play..... "upon further review the player stepped out at the 1 yard line." FIU had a first down on 1 though. We went on to stop them 3 times on the 1 yard line and they had to kick a field goal... WOW... The board members are missing the boat on this game with all their negativity..... this was one of the most exciting games I seen (though tedious in the first half with our "offense")... Meager saved our arses tonight (never thought I'd say this)! The pass to Quinn(?) in the end zone to tie the game was beautiful!

I'm not letting any of the board members ruin my good mood. What an incredible game!!!! Everyone in the stand was completely nerved wrecked and calling friends and family as the game went on. My 9 year old daughter just became a football fan after tonight. We needed this win so bad! After the game, the fans rushed down onto the field to celebrate with the team and watch fireworks. The Mean Green players were some the most humble people I've met. As my daughter and I congratulated players, most of them were thanking us for supporting the team during this tough time... total class. I was so proud to be green tonight. Hopefully this is a turning point for the team.

I sure hope Woody woke up out of bed today and said, "looks like a good day to win a football game." He better have those legs ready too, he's going to be running for his life tonight.

DRC/DMN blurbs Wilson to start at QB/FIU
chrisfisher replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with everything you said here. However, Woody was completely out of sync after the hit. He severely under/over threw the ball on many other plays, several to fairly wide open receivers. -
Thanks DoubleEagle... that's awesome.

Thanks very cool. I needed something new too! I was tired of looking at the parrot.

DRC/DMN blurbs Wilson to start at QB/FIU
chrisfisher replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Wilson better step up, else round and round we go on the QB carousel again. I am actually pleasantly surprised to see this. This might be a good time to post a question I've been meaning to ask. Our announcers speculated that after Woody got his bell rung on the opening drive against MTSU, he may have been discombobulated. Most our opening drive looked good, Woody was sharp, looked confident, completed passes, etc. After the hit, however, he looked like a different QB. I have never taken a shot like that. Could disorientation, or even fear of getting hit like that again account for his poor play? Or did Woody just have a horrible game? -
Speaking of ESPN, isn't that a shame that we have had 2 televised broadcasts of our games this year, and we looked like horses' arses in both?

Please notice at the end of my post, I stated I am at the games. But I agree with much of the analysis to my (and the other students) posts. I have experienced similar problems when getting other students out to the games.... all they see is: UT - WOW UNT - 7. I think the single biggest factor that holds back the football team (in terms of student support) is that we nearly ALWAYS get BLOWN OUT in OOC games. I am sorry to say, but these students do not want to support or be associated with a losing (in their minds) team. It is very hard for students to take pride in a team that gets slam dunked every OOC outing. And when we do win, I point this out them, and they are like Florida Atlantic who? Troy what? They could care less. All they know is their out-of-town friends heckle them to death about our big time loses to just about everyone but SBC teams - not cool. If we could win OOC games, I think students would support and be proud of SBC wins, knowing that we already opened a can of whoop ass on OOC teams. The student section was actually pretty full in SMU and MTSU despite getting blown out regularly this season. This suggests (and I truly believe) that UNT is ready to explode in support of our team, but is waiting for a truly COMPETITIVE D1A team to show up.

I am a student so sit in that section for each game. What is this hospitality deck? Translation: do they serve beer?

Our football program is in a very vulnerable period right now. I urge everyone to maintain their current donations and/or season tickets. Obviously, the current situation is unacceptable, and something dramatic must happen within our football program. Please give the administration time to correct this problem. Many times, it is simply not feasible or advisable to yank a coach in the middle of season. Moreover, a big drop off in donations could signal to the administration that the fans have given up on the team. What motivation will they have to acquire a new, higher profile head coach, build a new stadium, or fulfill any other demands of GMG members? Support your team through the rest of this season. If things haven't changed by the start of next season, then I think it is reasonable to withhold any monies you make spend or contribute as a form of protest.

My question is, why would the reviewer pick us to win? Makes no sense to me. FIU obviously has the upper hand in this game considering who (and how) they have played this year. Our "offense" couldn't beat a high school team last Saturday. And now, in all of D"K8MITB"D and Ramon "I keep all the plays on my 10 digits" Flannigan's brilliance, after reviewing hours and days film from the MTSU game, they come to the conclusion that it is time for....................drum roll please.................more quarterback rotations. WOW! DAMN! WHAT A BOLD MOVE! THIS IS SO BRILLIANT THAT I CAN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND IT! THAT DICKEY IS SMART!

FW*Telegram sputtering offense has logjam at QB
chrisfisher replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Lucky for us we have 3 QBs playing -
Tulsa and Southern Miss on TV NOW ESPN2
chrisfisher replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know anything about Southern Miss, but their offense didn't look that great last night. In fact, they only scored 3 more points than our "offense" could. I believe their offensive coach was one of our considerations for DK8MITBD's coaching position. Should we reconsider? -
I am a current student. I spent the first part of this season trying to get my cohorts out to the games. I can't continue to do this. I'd rather wait to get people out when our play is not so inept. It is just too embarrassing to invite people out to see that mess. Right now, our games are not even entertaining. It's like watching a Pro team take on a high school team. I'll let you guess which one we are. I'll be at the game of course...

FIU - 35 UNT - 3 This offense is doomed. We're almost halfway through the season, and we continue to have QB rotations. Matt Philips may start this week. How can we expect to score when Matt hasn't thrown a ball in 3 games? Then again, how can we expect to score either way given that travesty of an offense I witnessed against MTSU. Now that I think about it, Matt may actually have a good chance at a better showing since it will be difficult to do any worse than last week.

Dude - did you take your meds this week?

I know a few of these names (Dr. Phil.... I love this board), but not many. I am new to college sports. Someone please educate me on the choices. I won't vote either way since I can't make an educated decision, but I'd like learn about these folks. Thanks!

IMHO, I think this thread should be pulled altogether. I don't think this is a respectable way to welcome our new president - a president that we are going to be looking to develop our athletics program....you never know, she may read this forum, and will probably lose all respect for us.....go ahead, blast away at me.

Thanks Harry.. it is getting a bit tedious to use now.. look forward to the new upgrade!

I agree, but it seemed like Woody couldn't hit the side of oversized barn. I still think he is going to be fantastic QB, but I can't help but think that he is getting "coached" into the ground. He is probably so freaked out about not making an error or getting the reads done properly that he is losing his spontaneity and creativity. He looked totally out of sync with the receivers.
-
I am starting to come to the same conclusion. I don't know that we came blame Meager. Look at Woody now. He looks horrible. Even in his limited play against UT (#1 defense in the nation) he looked more fluid and confident. Even his scrambling ability has declined. The more he practices the worse he gets. There is something seriously wrong with this?!?!
-
Are you there for Florida International?
chrisfisher replied to Will to Win's topic in Mean Green Football
The only thing that can stop me from going is if we have a test early that week; otherwise I'm there no matter what. It's going to be painful. I fear that the stands will be empty, and I can't blame them. That was so ugly last night. -
I see these posts on this board after we get blown out. There is nothing un-classy about scoring TD's. They have every right to score every point they want. If we don't like it, then we should stop them from scoring. End of story.

Let me start by saying that I hold each player responsible for their position. However, I can't help but notice that our QB's seem to get WORSE over time. Why is that? Please correct me if I am wrong, but Daniel Meager was a highly recruited QB before a H.S. injury. And Woody Wilson thrilled us all as a "raw" QB in our opening games. Since Woody started getting most of the snaps in practice, he performance has deteriorated. In fact, Woody looked like Meager last night. In short, our QB's go from Pimp to Gimp, Hot to Not the more time they spend in our system. Please discuss.
