  1. We are starting off really rough.. 12 - 2 Nebraska. 15:28 left in 1rst half
  2. This is getting ugly real quick... uggh!
  3. I am pretty excited about this game! I really hope we do not start out slow in the first half like we did against Tulsa, UTA, and Texas State. I don't think we can afford to get behind more than 10 points against Nebraska at home. Hopefully, the hot shooting team that showed up against Charlotte, Rice, and the second half of Texas State will show up! Go Mean Green!
  4. I just got an email from MeanGreenSports. In the email they said specifically that the game was broadcast only in Nebraska. Looks like we'll have to sit this one out and have to deal with the radio
  5. I have Verizon FiOS and subscribe to the sports package, but I only get FSN Southwest
  6. The SBC gets one automatic birth to the NCAA tournament.... the winner of the SBC tourny goes. We can also get invites... last year Western Kentucky got invited to the NIT, though I don't know if the SBC has ever had NCAA invites.
  7. ESPN says WKU is up 63-50. Go WKU!
  8. Because it's not funny. I wish Harry would ban this stupid shit from the board.
  9. What do you bet we'll get a big dose of Howerton? Coach will send him in to frustrate/rough up Marik, and if Howerton fouls out then we still have Williams and Wooden. I am not saying Howerton will start, but I bet Coach will fall back on this strategy against their big man.. I have seen him do it before on several occasions last season using Barnett.
  10. Anyone care to share their expertise on the Sagarin. Somehow, this week we actually have moved down many slots, while Charlotte moved ahead of us (without winning any more games and loss to us) and South Alabama is ahead of us and Troy just behind us. Doesn't make alot of sense... oh, and Nebraska moved to #50 with a win over that sorry Pine Bluff or whoever that was. Seems peculiar to me. I do like that we have a chance to knock off Nebraska, now a top 50 team.
  11. I apologize for the "sore loser" comment. I know I was just as frustrated about the non-call as y'all were. I just didn't want to focus on it. I really enjoy the basketball forum and how we focus on critiquing basketball, rather than each other. I hope we can return to that.
  12. I checked Sagarin this morning. Nebraska is rated #50 in the nation. This is a great opportunity for us to knock off a undefeated, Top 50 Big 12 opponent.
  13. sorry.. I misunderstood what you were saying. I had a coversation earlier that day with some students who commented the SBC basketball wasn't worth watching because no matter how good we did, we'd never get into the NCAA tournament. I explained to them that was just plain wrong, and that last year we sent one team to the NCAA tourny and one to the NIT tourny. They were surprised and skeptical. Hopefully, I talked them into coming to some games. Again, sorry, didn't mean to lecture you, and are enjoying your posts!
  14. I just got the scores in too. What a horrible week this has been so far for the SBC. The SBC started off with some nice OOC wins, but really faultered this week. Looks like we'll have to win the big one for the Belt this Wed against Nebraska. I don't know about UALR. They had a big win over Akron, but then a series of losses including one to Tulsa. I wouldn't count anyone out because it seems like each team steps up their game a notch or two during conference play, and games are rarely easy.
  15. Actually, the SBC champion gets an automatic NCAA tournament birth. All we have to do is win, and we'll get one. Last season, South Alabama got the NCAA bid, while Western Kentucky got an NIT invitation. I think we have a shot this year. Our upcoming games against Nebraska and Western Kentucky on the road are big tests.
  16. that's what a sore loser would say
  17. One other thing I want to point out about the UTA game. I hope this doesn't define our style of play this season. Last season, we'd often get down by 15-20 points and either (1) win the game in the final minutes or (2) fall just short of a comeback. Either way I really hope that we do not allow teams to get huge leads in our games.
  18. Funny, I thought we had the momentum. In fact we were battling back from a many point deficit to take the lead with a minute or two left. To be honest though, I don't care for this asterisk stuff. It makes us look like sore losers, and I hope it stops. It was a hard loss to stomach, but a loss nonetheless.
  19. Making our 2 point shots above 50%, and shooting 40% or higher on 3 points shots will solve most any difficulty.
  20. I hope that the Mean Green breaks this contract with a win (and a check!) North Texas is fast becoming a very pesky team for our "privileged" foes that believe we are a guaranteed win. I'm sure the other schools wish we'd just lie down and lose, like any respectable SBC team does Actually, the SBC is looking much better this season with numerous big OOC wins.
  21. They can't. We screwed ourselves by not having a monitor on the media table for the referees. In fact, they walked over to the table to review the final basket, but when there was no monitor they declared the game over. They had no choice.
  22. Funny you brought this up. My brother & I remarked last night what a nice touch he had on his shots. A really hope Harold steps up because we need every player on the team to score as many points as possible to make up for the Davis factor.
  23. Nebraska is one of the most important games for our program. I can't stress how much a win would help us. Students complain that we only beat unknown (to them anyhow) teams. Well, this Wednesday we play an undefeated Big 12 team that most everyone knows. Sure, in the end, it doesn't help us win conference and it won't be the end of the season if we can't pull it off, but I believe a win against Nebraska on their home court will rally big time support for the team as well as legitimize our team in the publics' eyes. I think that if the hot shooting team that played Charlotte shows up, we can pull this off. We are definite underdogs for this game though. Currently, Sagarin predicts an 11 point Nebraska victory.
  24. I forgot to mention Sturns in my above review of the Texas State game. Sturns had another great scoring night. He is NBA fast with the ball! And made a ton of free throws! Keep it up Sturns!!!!!
  25. Buford, check Wooden's stats tonight. You'll like what you see.
