American Sports Net going 24/7 starting Monday
chrisfisher replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
Sorry. Don't recall. However, basically right now ASN buys the game, and then resells it across many TV channels. For example, yesterday men BBall game was on 4 to 5 channels at least. I watched it on MASN. All or most of the channels, however, currently require a premium sports subscription. The easiest way to find a complete listing is to add UNT to your favorites, then go to Menu -> Search & Browse -> Sports and it will then show a list of UNT games, then select UNT game, and it will provide a listing of every channel that carries the selected game. -
American Sports Net going 24/7 starting Monday

Directv carries them nation wide often on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). I have watched many UNT games on American Sports Network. Their production is not as slick as Fox, but they are getting better and better, and they are enthusiastic about the teams they show. They also talk very positively about Conference USA. -

I agree. Benford's offensive strategy is non-existent. It ranges from street-ball to pass the ball around the perimeter and then jack up a shot. Against UTEP, the first half we played full-on transition offense that was hurried and sloppy at times, and then in the second half, we slowed it down and played pass the ball around the perimeter. We have no offensive identity....no coordinated, identifiable offensive strategy. Benford can't seem to get set on a line-up, and his substitution patterns remain strange at best. I remember several games ago, a TV announcer commented that Benford must substitute like that because he hasn't found his starting/correct line-up...what they didn't know is that he has done this since day 1 dating back four years ago. Moreover, Benford doesn't seem to stick with anything that works. Brown had his best game against UTSA and didn't even start against UTEP - in fact, Brown's minutes were cut for UTEP....how is this possible? Benford never makes any sense.

I watched this game on American Sports Network. Benford line-ups were a head scratcher at times. For some reason, he cut Johnson, Brown, and Brice minutes, and increased minutes of Pittman and others. Johnson and Brown are two of our best scorers. If we aren't going to make free throws, wee need to at least keep our best shooters in the game. The ASN announcers commented "I've never seen anything like this" when were something like 0-8 at the free-throw line, and they commented that we shoot 3's better than free throws. They also said they asked Benford about the free throw problems, and Benford told them that "We don't understand it. We've tried everything to fix it" or something similar to that. This is a game we would have won if we only made our free-throws.

Really sad to see these attendance numbers. I was at UNT from 2005 to 2011. What great fun it was to watch attendance grow through those years with major student involvement, new traditions, Pit Crew development (with crazy hats and other attire), MBB team occasionally entering through Pit Crew area, multiple NCAA tourney trips, etc. I believe we started to average close to 5000 just prior to JJ departure with occasional near sell-outs with big time opponents in the house. Benford destroyed all of this. I hope that we can recover, but it will be difficult to rebuild all of this....We really had something special.

Happy New Year! We had better win this one. No excuses. UTSA is horrible this season. This game is close to my hometown so my wife and I plan to travel to the game tonight. GO MEAN GREEN!

Can you tell me what style of offense we play? Serious question.

I think this is most stacked we have been in years, but it is the same crap. Preach defense, but not good on defense combined with no discernible offensive strategy (resembles streetball).

American sports network on Direct TV-DFW
chrisfisher replied to man-up UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Anyone find it on Directv? I have the sports tier package that include ASN, but I cant seem to find the game. Update: From the the ASN website - USA-Nationwide: MASN (Direct TV Channel 640) I have two MASN channels and the UNT game is not on either. Looks like Directv subscribers do not have access to this game. -
Football forum? Really?

UT Arlington beats Ohio State in Columbus
chrisfisher replied to Matt from A700's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Nope................................... UT-Arlington beat them....but still a good win nonetheless. -
There are many things to complain about with UNT football, but TV coverage for me isn't one of them. I live Corpus, and I have been able to watch every game except one on TV (and that one was available on CBS College Sports Live). I do have to pay for the higher tier sports package on Directv, but it is totally worthy it.

I'm excited to see this new look/lineup. I don't think tonight will tell us anything about the team, but I am excited nonetheless.

AJ Lawson inks the deal. Sounds like a great pickup. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/111115aab.html

Smith has the "it" factor, plays with heart, runs the ball like running back, is extremely athletic, and has a cannon for an arm. He is fast enough to outrun two levels of defense, but not the safeties. His timing and accuracy need to improve, but that is something that can be corrected over time in practice. Remember, Smith has only played in three games in his entire college career, and he is completely changing the dynamics of our offense and making big-time plays (and big-time mistakes to go along with these). He has already set one UNT all-time record (pass over 200 and run over 100) in his first three starts. I think we will set next season at QB while we find a new QB to take over for the future with the new head coach.
-
I too noticed improvement all the way around. Because we didn't start Smith from the beginning, it seems like we are in fall camp right now with the improvements that we should have already have gone through... Smith gives us a chance to win and that has energized the offense and defense.

Tony Mitchell Waived by Golden State

Think he is done in NBA? Think he should have remained college to develop/refine his talent? -
We're screwed.
