You are right about that. I recall in a home game last season (FIU? Can't recall). Daniel turned on the jets as he ran down the sideline for a 40 yard or so TD... Daniel can fly and outran the entire secondary... unfortunately, as things would go for the 2006 season, the TD was called back on a penalty... nevertheless, I knew after that play that Daniel was very fast.

I thought long and hard on the QB situation. I came the same decision. Meager and Vizza should NOT be neck and neck. If Meager can't pull ahead of a true freshman, than put Vizza in.

I hear what y'all are saying. It is a really no win situation for Coach Dodge when you have a bunch of crazed fans that want answers now. I also understand that Dodge has his own agenda and will do what is best for the team. However, his public statements that his QBs were "average" is big concern. First, I thought Dodge might be using that as a motivational tool, but then re-thought that b/c Dodge is much more sophisticated than having to resort to negative public tactics to motivate QBs. In the end, I believe the "average" comment was stated b/c Dodge is very concerned about the QB position.

Dodge assessed both his QB's play as "average" after the scrimmage. That isn't very encouraging. It reminds me of last year when no 1 QB would (or could) TAKE the starting role away from the other QBs.

thanks... hopefully the news will get leaked before the OU game... this is torturous! I need fix of Mean Green football action. I am very disappointed that today's scrimmage was closed. I had it on my calendar since they released the date. On the other hand, if Dodge think it best for the team to practice without onlookers then I'm glad he closed practices. Sept. 1 can't come soon enough!!

Didn't Dodge promise to name a QB after this scrimmage? I wonder when this will be announced.

Woody Wilson off the current roster... It seems Wilson's stand is QB or bust....real shame that he won't consider a different position other than QB.

I looked forward to a very strong North Texas, Troy and MTSU... and possibly Monroe or Florida Atlantic... to battle it out hard in conference games, and to even win some tough OOC games... this degradation of MTSU is a bad news for the SBC and North Texas.

If Vizza, a freshman QB, is already on par with the experienced Junior QB, Daniel Meager, than Vizza plays. If Vizza learns this quickly, no telling how good he will be down the road.

I can't help but think that Dodge's statements indicate that he made up his mind, and is only preparing the masses for a freshman QB against OU.

I agree. I don't see the disrespect. Remember, respect is not something that is demanded. True respect is only earned. Based on the past 2 years of super crappy football, I see no reason for OU to respect us in any way.

That is very exciting!! I will play devil's advocate.... should we be concerned that our offense was able to score 6 TDs? I don't know... but It sounds like our defense will be very good this year so it could be that our offense is starting to gel in a big way.

I know its very early, but damn - this seems to be a theme for the past 2 years in the QB position. Hopefully, 1 of our 5 QBs will step up and take a leadership role by Sept. 1. I'm sure it will happen, I just want it now

I wasn't there, but I wonder if he meant, "we will still schedule big time OOC games, but now we can win some of those." I can't imagine RV lowering the caliber of opponents now that TD is here.
