  1. After what I saw last night, not even the awesome Combs will be able to save his job.
  2. Depending on which version of our offense shows up (ranges from horrible to excellent), we actually have a decent chance to pull the upset...
  3. There is absolutely no chance of this happening for a G5 program, especially UNT. I find it humorous (maybe even naive?) that they even bothered to submit the waiver or even report it in the news. The NCAA rulings on these cases are so ridiculously and obviously biased. I can't believe that the group of G5 schools have not organized a lawsuit against the NCAA to stop this practice that only serves to protect the P5 and is extremely unfair to the athletes.
  4. Section 135, Row 1 baby! Right behind UNT bench on the 40 yard line....really excited about this game... heading to SA in a few hours.
  5. Weren't they boasting crowds of 40,000 when they first launched the team? Or am I miscalling this?
  6. With a win at UTSA (major assumption), we could see an extremely nice turn out for the La Tech game. Too bad that one is not on real TV (only ESPN3, but better than nothing). I'd love recruits to see what our stadium looks like if they can come in an win... the support is there...
  7. The one stat you are missing... I recall seeing our defense specific to the red zone a week or so ago... it was in the Top 30... may have even dropped into Top 25 after the Army game.... THAT is how we are winning...red zone defense, the defense that matters! ..... Our defense keeps us in the game long enough for our inconsistent (to say it nicely) offense figures out how to score.
  8. I was really hoping Marshall would pull that out. Really short changes our win against Marshall... but I guess a UNT team that was 1-11 last season can't be picky about wins.
  9. We need to play more games against P5 at home. Period. This will help improve attendance, and will provide opportunities to have wins against meaningful opponents. P5 programs lose all the time to G5 programs when P5 travels to G5 stadium. This is the only way to garner interest in our program from a media perspective. A win against Lamar would do nothing from a big picture perspective in the development of our program. Nonetheless, every win is important from here on out...doesn't matter if FCS, G5, P5, from a simple win perspective.
  10. I know the triple option is something completely different than we've seen all season... but we are actually fairly stout against the run. I actually thought we'd pull this one out as well... This is all contingent on our offense executing... we can't have our defense on the field for most of the game as in several prior games..
  11. Benford says this is the "deepest" team he has had... I hope this to be true. He seems to have a short memory though. I recall when he came on-board five seasons ago, he described the team he inherited with Tony Mitchell as, 'I see no reason why this isn't a Top 25 team,' (not a direct quote) or something to that effect. Benford also says they are putting in a waiver with the NCAA for Woolridge to play at start of season (instead of semester break)....he actually sounds hopeful. I guess he hasn't learned that the waivers are never/rarely approved for G5 teams... only P5 teams.... Slow learner? Ignorance? Lastly, I absolutely love how they selected a wall for CUSA media day with sign next to Benford that says, "Electrical Room." Geez. How unprofessional is this? Maybe this is where he is headed if this is another crappy season? :-) It pains me to post these comments as I have always been a huge fan of UNT basketball... but this has been so painful to watch over the past 5 seasons as we went from reguarl NCAA tourney contender to CUSA/Sun Belt bottom of the barrel.
  12. I show the LaTech game on 640 and no football games on 696. Guess it doesn't matter now that we have the Campus Insider video feed.
  13. I have to admit that I don't use Twitter....ever.... but definitely would to watch football! Will this be a live video feed?? I noticed that Campus Insiders said they have the exclusive video stream.
  14. Sweet! Thanks!
  15. Ha! As good a guess as any. He is clearly fighting a smile... and he even smiles several times that seem out of place, almost holding back a laugh. I wonder if he is reflecting on the differences between busy press conferences at N. Carolina vs. talking to 2 people at UNT? If he starts to win, this will change... just hang in there coach!
  16. He looks like he is about to bust off laughing... not sure what he was holding back his smile??? I wonder if he thought the questions were so obvious that they were silly?
  17. Does this mean that I will have to listen to most every game on radio? Or with UNT have their own video broadcast of the game? I've never had to listen to most games on radio.
  18. I couldn't believe those idiots fired Mario Cristobal years back... He had turned their program around and into formidable, respected program.... I seem to recall he even turned down a higher level G5 or P5 job coach offer to remain loyal to FIU.... and what did FIU do when the program had it a downturn... fired the loyal Cristobal.... They have never been the same ever since... Karma is a bee-atch!
  19. If Benford can't win with this line-up, he might as well hang up his college coaching shoes....because it ain't never going to happen.
  20. Don't think this has been posted yet... great article on this new recruit: http://www.recruitingnewsguru.com/interview-los-angeles-valley-rb-anthony-wyche-readies-for-sophomore-juco-or-division-i-season/ Writer says, Wyche currently runs a 4.4 40 yard dash and still working on speed.... writer states, "The biggest question surrounding Los Angeles Valley freshman running back Anthony Wyche is will he be a one-year top talent at the junior college level or will he be a two-year?" Sounds like a decent pick-up...
  21. I do appreciate the coverage that Vito does for UNT athletics. However, I am frankly tired of his writing style. Maybe I've been reading his articles too long, but his redundancy in his writing (e.g., Derek Thompson, etc.) is really boring and tiresome.
  22. Perhaps telling fans to wear black to mourn the the loss of Benford who will be fired immediately after the game?
