We also picked up a highly regarded recruit named Josh White. Everything around here thinks he will redshirt.... but supposedly this somewhat small man can REALLY PLAY.... here is an excerpt from his meangreensports bio, "Named the 10th-best player in the state of Louisiana by Rivals.com ... Led Christian Life Academy to back-to-back 1A state titles ... Earned the state’s Most Outstanding Player award by the Louisiana Sportswriters Association as a senior ... Averaged 25.3 points, 7.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game in his final year." I really look forward to seeing this young man play!

Damn, this whole QB controversy sounds eerily similar to our QB problems and rotations last year. I sure hope someone steps up and takes the QB job for good this season.

Hi mark - it appears we had a very good recruiting season. We signed several ranked players with 1 or 2 from Louisiana. A ton of new faces on the team. Harold Edwards and Michael Sturns both transferred out, and of course Watson and Kendrick were seniors. I think Quincy and Wooden will rule the Sun Belt (and hopefully our OOC games) with a iron fist.

I am very surprised to see this. One of my classmates asked me if I thought Meager would get pulled in favor of Vizza. I told him no way b/c Dodge said he picked his QB and would stick by him. I know that "Vizza will see some playing time" is a far cry from "Vizza will replace Meager," but I am extremely surprised that Dodge announced this. I suspect that Meager will be gone in 2 or 3 games if Vizza looks good. Dodge gave Meager every chance, but Meager just can't stop with the interceptions and panicky runs out of the pocket at the first sign of trouble.

3 Interceptions were his fault... scrambling out of the pocket at the first sigh of trouble is his fault.....despite these I don't blame him... we win and lose as a team...

During the OU/Tulsa game, they had a guest announcer who was a former coach. I can't recall his name. He wasn't speaking about the Meen Green, but his point certainly applies. He made an interesting comment about the spread offense when asked if he'd ever use it. The guy said that the biggest problem with the spread offense is that it is extremely difficult to get your defense quality reps during practices because most sets are throwing plays. And went on to say that this leaves your defense vulnerable to the run and poor tackling. Basically, he said your defense gets good against the spread offense, which fewer teams use, and that's it. Could this be the answer to our first 2 game defensive woes? Our veterans simply were not getting good practice, especially with tackles. It is reasonable theory and I'll interested to see how our defense performs given that they spent a week on tackling during the break.

The damn OU game tracker stopped with about a minute and half left with OU up by 1. I assume that we lost with that little time left, but it would have been nice to know....

I really excited for the OU soccer game. We need some Mean Green payback for the football loss. I checked on the OU website. They have media coverage of this game through their "game tracker" service. It launches a player when you click on the link, but I think this is just live stats (no audio/video)...
