The only game I saw Troy play this year was against South Alabama. They looked terrible. I'm sure it was just an off-game for them.

I was a strong advocate of playing a P5 for a bowl game. After our inability to correct our porous defense twice against FAU as well as appearing very slow on defense against an apparently much faster FAU offense, the G5 match-up is a blessing. FSU might have had an off-year, but they recruit fast, capable, and sometimes elite athletes. FSU would have made mince-meat out of our defense. We got the bowl that we deserve and that gives us the best shot a W. Great season, one of the best of all time, but we are not yet ready for the big-time P5 bowls. Hopefully, next season. We will have our hands full with Troy too.

After that ugly loss, I agree with you completely. I think we deserve a Sunbelt team. We'd just better win.

Ya. Real shame and embarrassment for the conference. If at unt we would have sold it out.

This game simply boils down to our defense or lack thereof.

Can't blame both writer's for picking FAU after how we played FAU last month. I'm still hoping for a win, but it is hard to envision this after the beat-down we took. Nonetheless, I hope the beat-down is the motivation for UNT players to pull out the win this time around!

I'm sorry, but who cares about the actual bowl? I know that travel is a concern for UNT fans. However, we need a bowl that we can face a P5 program. Beating UNLV was great, but did nothing to further our football program. Army was a quality win, but we lost our two other non-conferences games against Iowa and SMU; I assure you the general public placed an asterisk on 9-3 record because all of our wins, except one, was from CUSA and DII. If we beat a P5 program, even a midlevel P5, in a bowl, than the asterisk will be removed by most everyone, including recruits.

Beating a Sunbelt team does absolutely nothing to advance our football program. Period. End of story.

It was great. We enjoyed the game.... Good guess, but not Flour Bluff... We live on N. Padre Island.

I could care less the bowl name just as long as (1) UNT vs P5 opponent and (2) easily travelable for UNT fans. I game against a name Texas P5 program in Dallas would be fantastic. Tech or UT would do just fine.

Without a doubt. We made the trip from CC. It was a great day. Was so proud of the mean green fans.... great crowd for an out-of-town game. The UNT crowd became more vocal as the game wore on... Great showing for UNT!

UNT website says CUSA TV, but nothing there. Is the game being shown on internet/TV?

Very cool. I think me, my wife, daughter, and her boyfriend are driving from Corpus to Houston to watch the game. Do they go through Ticketmaster too?

Win. Teams from the AAC routinely get ranked without a really tough schedule. Had we beat SMU and Iowa we'd be ranked right now. Win.

As best that I can tell, the game is only available on the BTN Plus. This is a subscription based view using their mobile app. It is $14.95/month. Basically, pay this to watch the game and then cancel. Hopefully, I'll be able to chromecast the game from my mobile to big screen TV. Really excited! These are the types of games/wins against known "power" opponents that can garner (re)interest in our men's bball program!

We can have a fun, extended-3-day weekend with a win against Nebraska tonight in men's bball!

I personally don't have a good feeling about this one. We can put the points...even in our loss to FAU we put up 30+...The question is if we can stop their offense, and I am unfortunately skeptical after what I saw in that blow out loss. The good news is that Reffet already knows FAU's offense and can make pre-game adjustments. We might consider having a deep safety for this game... we got burned over and over because of this factor (plus poor initial tackling).

Very unfortunate, and highly unusual to lose this many players in off season. I wonder if the women's bball program will very get back on track? The "new" coach looked good earlier on, but we will have to see. Losing three players even before the season starts is a terrible way to enter the season.

Does the CUSA Conference Champ have an automatic assignment to a specific bowl? Or is it on an invite basis?

My vote is very optimistic for McCasland, but I was also optimistic about Benford when he arrived so my vote shouldn't count for our new coach (but I voted anyway) :-)

Do we need Fau to lose 2 so we can host conference championship or is the location already set? I can't remember how this works in Cusa.
