Of course, we don't know what Halliday was saying to evoke such a reaction - he could have being calling Lupfer's daughter a cheap whore. I'm sure such insults happen 1000 times during the course of a game. Why is using a gay slur as an insult so horrible that it warrants a suspension?

Official Attendance: 54,728

This game was never going to be sold out. Last year's game was about 45k in attendance - OK State and Purdue. If we've sold 10k through our ticket office, I'm happy. I expect game day attendance to be about 23k. If we hit 30k, I'd call it a wild success.

Personally, I'm offended by his comments about drunkards.

I don't see the government stomping on anybody's First Amendment right.

The usual suspects are up in arms about it in the comments section - almost all of them failed City Council candidates.

I think it is inevitable. A 4-team playoff will not last long, and the money will push the inclusion of all the conferences just like basketball.

OK, I confess I didn't know very much about this case until Emmitt's article post. I didn't know he had a previous arrest, and clearly the problem is he has ever been punished for anything. I've changed my opinion - he should be in jail.

I think when anyone talks of lawsuits, it is more along the vein of suing the Power 5 for anti-trust violations, or the NCAA for allowing conference realignment to go the way it did, which only served to consolidate power and money at the top.

Actually, most of the money goes to the Bowl Committees, and their board members. And their annual "meetings" on Caribbean islands. The Sugar Bowl paid $1.1 million to its Chief Executive and his two aides. That's downright criminal.

If we're going to have a playoff, every conference champion should get in. FCS can do it. All other Division I sports do it.

A 16-team playoff is perfect. The ten conference champions + 6 at-large. Conference championships essentially become first round playoffs, with top-ranked losers getting a second chance. These at-large would not get a free pass - they would be seeded 11-16 and have to play seeds 1-6. This would ensure these early games aren't blowouts with #1 Florida State playing #16 Bowling Green. Instead it would be #1 FSU vs. #16 Arizona State, with #10 Bowling Green vs. #7 Rice.

Prison is for people who are a danger to society. Maybe this kid is salvageable. Maybe not. Certainly his probation will require him to jump through a lot of hoops.
