  1. The banner ads are appropriate.
  2. The game is not televised. It is on ESPN 3.
  3. Scientists finally discover the true cause of “global warming”. It’s the sun, stupid. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100102296/sun-causes-climate-change-shock/
  4. It worked for Miami. They were able to schedule whoever they wanted and as a result put together a run of great season schedules that vaulted them to national prominence. I just don't think an unknown school could ever do that again in today's football landscape.
  5. But we aren't going public about it like SMU. If we did, at least people would be talking about it.
  6. You should be grateful we're even letting you into our glorious new facility. Final score: UNT 72 UH 3
  7. Something else can be done to preserve the wing... maybe painting the benches with a kind of "shadow" of the old wing section.
  8. COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M said Tuesday it has not sent a letter of withdrawal to the Big 12 Conference. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/6909072/texas-aggies-spokesman-denies-school-sent-withdrawal-letter-big-12
  9. Is there tailgating info enclosed?
  10. Why not?! WHY???
  11. Staying in the Sun Belt would do nothing to help us achieve that. SMU could go Big 12 and we go C-USA and still be a better team. Can anyone argue that TCU wasn't better than half of the Big 12? If SMU whores herself out to the B12 , she'll become the doormat of the conference.
  12. "Alcohol is the problem, and if 70,000 people can handle their alcohol but three cannot -- and as a result, two fans get shot and another gets beaten into critical condition -- then that's three too many." Responsibility. Pass it on (to somebody else).
  13. Not I. The MWC is becoming the old WAC.
  14. Well, I don't think that's a good strategy.
  15. I just don't see the Big 12 pursuing ANY other Texas team. SMU leaving would be good for us because then C-USA needs to get a team back in their home office market. Much as I hate to admit it, SMU leaving would put us in the best position to move to another conference.
  16. Even if those 4 schools leave, the remaining members of C-USA are far better than the current members of the Sun Belt. They are universities that people know. I just had a conversation with a co-worker who has never heard of any of our conference opponents except for Troy (which makes me question his knowledge of the sport). I agree that C-USA is not our best option, but it is the best of the realistic scenarios. We really have no reason to have anybody look this way. New stadium and other facilities? Nice, but we need to bring more to the table. That's not to say we throw up our hands and surrender ourselves to fate... I would hope that our athletics department is working the phones and making it known that we are willing to move to the big 12. But let's be realistic, it is not going to happen.
  17. It will all work out.
  18. What do you mean? An email went out yesterday with all the details you need. September 1st FIU watch party Watch the Mean Green kickoff the 2011 campaign against last season's Sun Belt Conference champion Florida International. The game will be broadcast on the video board at the new Apogee Stadium. Admission is free!
  19. The name recognition of the members is a plus. Tulsa, Rice, Southern Miss, Memphis, Tulane, UTEP... sounds like a hell of a lot better conference schedule than Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Florida International, etc.
  20. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/6907754/texas-notifies-big-12-leave-conference
  21. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/30/sports/ncaafootball/texas-am-closer-to-withdrawing-from-big-12.html
  22. C'mon, Waters. We only need two more teams to make 12 once USA comes up and then we can have a chamionship game. Let's make an effort to, at the very least, pad our membership in case somebody does jump ship.
  23. See above.
  24. If you have a Xbox, you can stream to your TV. Not the best quality, but it works. If you have a new TV that can take advantage of network sharing media servers, you can install "Play-On" on your PC and stream to your TV as well. A DirecTV receiver will stream a Play-On application server as well as a PS3 box. Finally, I have seen ESPN3 games played on ESPN GamePlan, but that is exclusive to Saturday games.
