New Map for College Football could include Everybody
UNTflyer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
It's a terrible idea. Look at Engish Premier, it's always the same teams in the top 5, and the bottom is just a churn of relegation and promotion. It benefits only the elite. -
This game will NEVER pit the two champions against each other. One or both will likely get a BCS bowl or the National Championship, OR one or both will qualify for the new 4-team playoff once the playoff era begins.

You could probably fit four lanes between this wall and the current interstate.

It appears to be the same eagle used on the street signs around campus.

UNT regents to consider extension for Villarreal tomorrow
UNTflyer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
He's done so much, this doesn't surprise me. I know people have a lot of problems with RV for a lot of different reasons... some of them quite trivial. But you have to admit he has done so much for this university. Except for that football head coach decision a few years ago.- 18 replies

B1G wants the Bowls Games for playoff.
UNTflyer replied to Mark Gommesen's topic in Mean Green Football
That's why we need to support this even though it leaves us out in the short term. Once a playoff is in place, they will have no choice other than expansion. -

Jeez, I've only been floating this idea for the past six years. How much did they pay the consultant to come up with this one? -

Really, if we're going to ban things that MAY cause cancer to people nearby, we need to ban the following on campus: Auto Emissions Cell Phones Sunlight Electomagnetic fields Gas and charcoal grills Microwave ovens Bonfires Just to name a few. And honestly, why are smoking areas not sufficient? There is a smoking area at Apogee and almost everyone seems to follow the rules with the help of event staff enforcement. The only way it doesn't work is when smoking Nazis want to push restrictions farther. (I win the Godwin Award)

And don't think for a minute that the slippery slope is an absurd argument. This nation has tried to ban alcohol once already, and today we have food police taking away "bad lunches" that kids bring from home. Again, I say to those who cheer this sort of thing and will use any kind of twisted logic to justify trampling on the personal liberties of others just because you personally do not like smokers in your presence... be careful what you wish for.

Get over it and move along...better yet...stop smoking drinking. How people can still be smokers drinkers in this day and age with all the knowledge they have about the health benefits of not smoking drinking to both themselves and their loved ones is beyond me... Get over it and move along...better yet...stop smoking eating bad foods. How people can still be smokers bad food eaters in this day and age with all the knowledge they have about the health benefits of not smoking eating bad foods to both themselves and their loved ones is beyond me... See how that logic can so easily be applied to anything deemed "not good for you?"

C-USA Basketball Tourney moving from Memphis to Tulsa
UNTflyer replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Most likely the same stick-it-to-them rule applies for this season. No school leaving was going to host this year. Reynolds Center is not a bad arena, but can't say much about Tulsa being a destination city.- 14 replies

Interesting. Which amendment to the Constitution defines this "right"? And if you are so worried about your "right" to clean air, do you support the elimination of the automobile, airplanes, and urban drilling? All of which spews out more harmful particles than smokers by a factor of about a BILLION? And a ban on smoking on a college campus, where several thousand people live, is not a compromise at all. A compromise would be designated smoking areas. A ban puts the safety of young students at risk when it forces them off campus to smoke, especially late at night. And before anyone says "Well, maybe they should quit," that is not YOUR place or the university's to dictate. How many college students die from alcohol consumption each year? How many alcohol related automobile deaths? Gee, it seems that someone else's behavior puts my life at risk, so we should just ban it!! Will alcohol be the next thing banned on the UNT campus? That will make tailgating very dull. But then again, there will be those holier-than-thou types who will say it's not good for you anyways and we know what's best for you.

Let's be honest, C-USA was not going to upgrade. Nobody was going to leave the Big East, SEC, or Big 12 to move to C-USA. Tulsa should thank their stars that C-USA didn't fall apart around them and leave them out to dry like NM State or Idaho. While Tulsa may have a high opinion of itself, it is a small school in a media market the size of Schenectady... AND with two large competing fanbases of Big 12 state universities. YOU'RE WELCOME, Mr. Upham.

The brutal band hazing that occurs at Florida A&M has been known for years. Chains, brass knuckles, 2x4s... things that would normally get you a felony assault charge or even attempted murder. It actually took somone dying before anyone did a thing about it, and even then you have trustees who were worried about TICKET SALES!!! Are you not worried about what type of human beings you are shaping into future leaders???
