BCS is dead: Presidents approve college playoff
UNTflyer replied to UNTeagle88's topic in Mean Green Football
I see this as the camel sticking its nose under the tent. Four team playoff gives the non-power conference zero change to get in, but the fact that we have a playoff will pave the way for future expansion. It WILL happen when they realize the money will be huge. By 2020, there will be talk of all conference champions receiving automatic bids. -
40% - fine. Boy, I bet you just RAGED when you heard this, huh? A simple mistake that was later corrected. News organizations make mistakes: Madrassa - video doesn't work on your link, but again they were reporting on the Insight Magazine article. They had nothing to "retract" Finally, nobody that works for Fox reported Obama being born in Kenya as "fact" If the boogeyman at Fox news did half of what the left claimed, they would have been sued out of existence by now. But really, what does it matter to you? I don't obsess over MSNBC, CNN, ABC/CBS/NBC, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Associated Press, Reuters, et al. I realize that everyone has a different view of world events, which is why I watch and listen to many sources and draw my own conclusions. I don't need anyone to interpret the news for me. Think for yourself.
-
Seriously the mental gymnastics you perform to justify your skewed view of politics, the media, and economics just gives me tiredhead. FOX did not report that American families lost 40% of wealth... nearly EVERY news outlet reported the story. FOX did not report that Obama attended a madrassa... Insight magazine reported that. FOX did not report that Obama was born in Kenya, but guests on Fox (and other networks) have said it. Skewed? Yes. Do they "report" lies? No. I am not a fan of FOX, but I can spot a regurgitating Internet drone like you a mile away. Think for yourself.

The dashboard camera is unblinking. But when gun laws are passed that allow citizens to protect themselves, there is always an outcry from anti-Second Amendment folks that law-abiding citizens will somehow take the law to the extreme and turn society into the Wild West. That's what they argued when Texas allowed conceal carry permits. They said fender benders at 4-way stop signs would escalate into a shootout. They said children would be slaughtered at amusement parks if someone accidentally stepped on someone's foot. They said the streets of Texas would run with blood. None of that happened, quite the contrary. Glen White, former president of the Dallas Police Association said "All the horror stories I thought would come to pass didn't happen. No bogeyman. I think it's worked out well, and that says good things about the citizens who have permits. I'm a convert." It truly underscores the difference between the right and the left... specifically, that people on the left do not trust their fellow citizens to behave in a responsible manner and as such require government supervision and guidance on all things, even if it requires stripping such a fundamental human right as Self-Defense.

"allows residents to use deadly force in response to the "unlawful intrusion" by a "public servant" to protect themselves and others, or their property." Which is exactly what the Second Amendment was intended to protect. Now... if you pull a gun on an officer who pulls you over, you better damn well be able to prove your it was an "unlawful intrusion" and that your life was is danger. BIG DEAL OF A VOTE TODAY!
UNTflyer replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
As for public education, I'm all for sensible funding. Texas itself spends more per student ($8908/year) than Denmark, Norway, France, Italy, or Germany - who all beat the snot out of us in test scores. What's the problem, because it sure as hell isn't money!!?? But liberals would have you believe conservatives hate education, which itself is just laughable. -

Big win for taxpayers. BTW, local school boards have the power to levy taxes to fund education. If the tax burden has been reduced at the state level, the local entity can make up for it. I suggest you run for school board on the platform of raising taxes in order to continue to pay teachers for not doing their jobs. -

CNN's exit poll said it was 50-50. Boy, did they blow that one. Their exit polls also show Obama winning in November by a few percentage points. Put Wisconsin in the Romney column. -

I think one of the greatest things about college football is the demand to have a great regular season. If you let a non-conference champion into the playoffs, then I think it lessens the season. And hey, if you can't win your conference, can you really claim to be one of the 4 best teams in college football? I don't think so, but the voters disagreed this past season.

I think the NFL playoffs should only include 5 division champs and two at-large. The NFC West hasn't been competitive in years and the AFC South just plain sucks.

I don't see anything wrong with the current uniform design other than perhaps a helmet change. We have a logo, let's use it.
