  1. 1. The language of the student vote was largely irrelevant. What matters is the language of the law, which states the BOR has the power to increase the fee up to 10% per year. 2. Lee Jackson had nothing to do with the bond language - that was UT, AtM, Tech lobby getting together to make sure the small schools didn't grow too big and too fast. The applied the same language to Texas State. 3. The language of the law does not specify football stadium bonds, in fact it says the fee ends after 5 years unless additional bonds are issued payable from the fee. As long as the university keeps issuing bonds payable by the fee, it remains in place.
  2. It's not accurate at all. The BOR can increase it by 10% per year to a max of $20.
  3. Most of the restaurants in Denton were smoke-free without a law in place. Those business owners made a choice to do it. I'm saying those choices should be respected under the concept of private property and government can butt out. If a business wants to cater to smokers, then they suffer the loss of business (or the additional business). We're adults, you can make a choice to go to a smoking restaurant or not. As for me, I've switched to e-cigarettes so now I can vape at the airport, bars, restaurants and not bother anybody.
  4. Adults can make their own choices, such as going to a restaurant or bar that allows smoking, or eschewing them. Why let the government do it for you? Next they'll be banning large sodas, trans-fats, salty food, and traffic.
  5. The drawing says the track must also be protected. Looks like this is our track facility for at least a few more years.
  6. This post has been promoted to an article
  7. http://bsc.untsystem.edu/sites/default/files/RFCSP752-13-143050-CC.pdf Check out the drawing, it looks to me that the north, east, and south stands will all go away. 1.1 Specifications Scope of Work The scope of work of this RFCSP is for the partial demolition of Fouts Field Stadium A set of the 100% Construction Documents and Specification has been included (Attachment “C”) for use in preparation of the proposal. Contractor must be on site to begin demolition NO LATER THAN June 17, 2013
  8. In conference realignment, this means nothing.
  9. You people dance with glee on every corpse, don't you? No matter how small it may be. This crime didn't happen BECAUSE of a gun... it was likely the result of these two kids being raised without a father, discipline, or boundaries in a culture that glorifies violence and dismisses the value of human life. Let's focus on real solutions instead of hyperbolic grandstanding.
  10. Are we sure we want people with bibles? Newspapers? Megaphones? Miranda rights?
  11. FIU is 20 miles from the nearest beach. It's closer to the Big Swamp.
  12. Not with a bang, but a whimper.
  13. I like the one comment... "Welcome to The Big House"
  14. Apparently we only have contact information for 40% of the ticket buyers over the last 10 years.

  16. Everyone was in favor of banning smoking, which is legal for most college students. Now upset about banning alcohol, which is illegal for most college students.
  17. So we have a worse class than Charlotte? Charlotte, folks.
  18. I have to say my football pants were fully engorged tonight. Huge drama, big storylines, and a great finish. Everything about this Super Bowl was spectacular. Everything. Pre-game with the Newtown choir and Alicia Keyes - beautiful. Hopes raised high for Ravens fans, only to have their grasp tenuously loosened after a bizarre turning point brought to us by New Orleans utilities. Beyoncé nailed it. She was gorgeous and sounded great. Paul Harvey's God Made a Farmer and Jeep's tribute to the troops were the best commercials. The Budweiser Clydesdale a close second. Awesome game.
  19. I'll wear the black shirt again.
