  1. I seem to recall the stadium lighting at Apogee meets BCS Bowl requirements in terms of candle power.
  2. 10. Arizona State 9. St. Cloud State 8. Western Kentucky 7. South Dakota State 6. Wichita State 5. Toledo 4. Wyoming 3. Utah State 2. Kansas State 1. UT-El Paso http://www.chacha.com/gallery/5655/what-are-some-of-the-easiest-colleges-to-get-into
  3. The idea of a Dubai Bowl is ridiculous.
  4. Clutch. And look at them... they all know how this is going to end.
  5. Earning that accolade requires more than statistics and championships. It requires character, longevity, maturity, leadership, work ethic, charisma, loyalty, and sportsmanship. But I think most of all, one has to leave an impression on the game. Michael Jordan changed basketball on the floor, in the locker rooms, and on television. He left a huge mark on the American culture that has endured long after his retirement. His fans, teammates, and opponents were in awe of him. Jordan didn't look to stack the deck like Lebron did - he made his teammates better, and he never sought to form an alliance with other super stars to get his championships. Lebron can game the free agent system and sell himself out for 18 championships - that doesn't make him the best ever.
  6. Usually around 9:45 PM.
  7. The worst that can happen is they say "No." But I'd wait for the SEC to announce their expansion to 18 teams with the invitation of Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Miami. "Stay with your major conference, and you will be the next Muncie Flyers."
  8. Apples and Oranges. Our move is an improvement for us in every respect. How does Vanderbilt benefit from staying in the SEC and getting pounded every week by semi-professional teams? No conference titles since 1923, when they were co-champions.
  9. You think Mississippi State fans prefer the big paycheck, even though they have won only one conference title in 118 years? Iowa State has two conference championships - both were more than 100 years ago from back when they were in the Missouri Valley Conference in 1911 and 1912. We all thought a lot of things weren't going to happen before realignment. Like Boise State and San Diego State leaving the Big East to go to the Mountain West. Would Big Six doormats leaving for more competitive pastures really be that crazy?
  10. Just kicking this around, because it's June... But should C-USA make a big push to get teams from the bottom of the SEC, ACC, or Big 12? Think about it - these teams have virtually ZERO chance of ever competing with Florida, Georgia, Auburn or LSU; with Texas or Oklahoma; with Miami, VA Tech, or Florida State. A few candidates: Mississippi State Vanderbilt Boston College Iowa State Wake Forest Crazy? Maybe. But consider the advantages for these teams. They would leave a league where they have not even sniffed a conference title. With expansion of the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 looming, their chances of competing when other big powerhouse schools make the jump will dwindle even further. Sure, being in a conference with big money offers a big pay day, but these schools are really just being paid to be cannon fodder on Saturdays. By moving to C-USA, Miss State, Iowa State, et al have a significantly better chance of competing. And with the possibility of conference champions getting an automatic bid to the playoffs, it starts to possibly make sense.
  11. Still haven't received my invitation...
  12. The BOR just negotiated an extension and amendment to his contract. Approved 8-0. http://untsystem.edu/regents/agendas/05-16-13/2013-45%20UNT%20Board%20Order%20Athletic%20Director%20Employment%20Agreement%20Amendment%20%2800065793%29.pdf

  14. I will be the first to admit that some of my speculation was a bit off. No, we didn't get a $20 million deal with Coke, we got a $17 million deal with Apogee. But I'll go out on a limb and say that my predictions on the athletic fee, the building of the stadium, the naming rights, and moving to a new conference were far more accurate than your doom and gloom predictions of the time. What I don't get is that here we are, nearly four years after this all began and we are in a much better position than we were when this thing first started. Except for you - you're still a miserable, antagonistic, cynical defeatist.
  15. OH, I GET IT NOW! I'm sorry, I really haven't posted much lately. You are the whiny little bitch who stormed into the NT Daily office and demanded that my posts that exposed your true identity be removed from their website. And when they said no, you threatened to call the Denton police. But hey, way to dig up stuff from 5 years ago that was clearly board talk about who MIGHT be a sponsor or how much money the fee might generate. That is absolutely relevant to interpreting the meaning of subsection G, which any first year law student can understand.
  16. Cafe du Monde for breakfast. Court of the Two Sisters for Brunch. Emeril's for a fantastic dinner.
  17. Again, the explanation is simple. UNT has been trying to get a new Student Union Fee and now this increase in the Student Services Fee. The BOR is not going to raise the Athletics Fee just because it can. It will raise it when it needs to.
  18. Just like in elementary school, we can break a compound sentence with the "or" conjunction into two separate complete sentences. ...Prohibits the amount of the fee from increasing to an amount that exceeds by 10 percent or more the amount of the fee as last approved by a student vote. ...Prohibits the amount of the fee from increasing to an amount that exceeds by 10 percent or more the amount of the fee as last approved by this subsection. The legalese isn't that difficult to understand. Subsection G describes the limit of any increase as it relates to two different baselines: 1. The original student vote of $10 (or any future student vote that sets a new fee amount) 2. Any increase approved by the BOR under subsection G. You're making it more complicated than it needs to be.
  19. I'd like to see the version of the video that shows 8:15 AM traffic on a Tuesday.
  20. Prohibits the amount of the fee from increasing to an amount that exceeds by 10 percent or more the amount of the fee as last approved by a student vote under Subsection (f) or this subsection The "or this subsection" is the critical language. It indicates the fee can be increased by up to 10% of the amount approved by the students, OR by up to 10% of the amount approved by an increase permitted under subsection G - but never no more than 10% unless approved by the students.
