  1. Not seeing it. Is it just around the corner or am I not accessible yet? This will be great!!
  2. Very funny/witty Smitty! Dry humor good. Let ya borrow my comb!
  3. Amen to that PMG! Totally agree with you. I think this will be our experience until we start winning and beating some higher profile teams. Then the more glamorous recruits will start to come.
  4. Tune played in a power running offense at Celina where the forward pass was mostly used in 3rd and long, obvious passing situations. Occasionally, a 1st or 2nd down pass was used but rarely. As previously noted, he only played beyond the 2nd Qtr in 2 of 16 games his senior year as they were typically over by halftime. He won the State game as the running back run game was shut down. If you saw it, he could have won the THSCA All-Star game if allowed to play more series. He made Harrell (4A district MVP) look very average. Tune had to learn the spread offense and hand signals for 30 plays in four days prior to that game. Craig James' son Adam played for Celina.

  6. With all my ranting to emphasize the Eagle, you know my thoughts. Great idea!!!
  7. Go Texas Longhorns! We need this win bad!!
  8. If we have to keep the "mean green" (which we will), let's at least say "Mean Green Eagles". I cringe when hearing only "Mean Green". We are Eagles first. Mean Green came along later. Not 100% sure but feel that I have heard George Dunham just say UNT Mean Green or the Mean Green of UNT. He has to change that. We are the Eagles darn it!!
  9. I'm with you Got5. Very plain, unimaginitive. Just down right boring. A good looking Eagle is the way to go. Come on people wake up!
  10. Great examples......of schools with horrible mascots. If we were the Elephants, Pelicans or Weasels, yes by all means, let's divert everyones attention and use another slogan. An Eagle is one of the coolest mascots a team could have. I have already gone over what the Eagle represents. If not mistaken, isnt it so revered that it is protected from hunting, the official bird of the US of A!? I just feel we should acentuate the strength, speed, uniqueness, power and grace of the Eagle to represent UNT FB. The mean green is vague, non-committal and down right wimpish in my opinion. Know I'm stepping on toes here but my opinion.
  11. I agree as has been stated in other threads!
  12. The first domino is in place (Dodge). Once he gets in his office and completes his staff, we will see the dominoes fall quickly! I feel certain that all of the Texas D-1 schools will be affected by TD taking kids that they may have recruited. He will be able to take 2-3 star kids no problem. He will snatch some 4s and even a 5 occasionally! Hard to imagine this is happening!!
  13. Harry, My son is on the Team. I am very interested to see who we are recruiting. I am excited that we will now be attracting top flight players at all positions. I honestly feel that we will be knocking on the Top 25 door in 4 years!! How awesome will that be!! Thanks!
  14. Harry, How do I sign up for the "Mean Green Report". When I go to the link and attempt to do so, the screen goes blank.
  15. At the end of the day, we all want the same result. A Winning FB Team. All of us "armchair qbs/coaches" can debate uni/helmet look issues til we are blue in the face (i'm close). I think TD, the Team and RV should be the final say if changes to be made. I am going to show up and support the kids even if they are wearing pink! Go MGEagles!!!
  16. How so? How many colleges have an Eagle as their mascot. Easily hundreds between D-1, AA and AAA. Not to mention HS. To my knowledge, there is not another UNT Eagles version. No copyright issues that I can see.
  17. How is a fierce looking Eagle confusing? Alabama is a good example of what NOT to do. Ugly unis, ugly helmets, confusing name/mascot reference. If we are being compared to them then that is not a positive situation (excluding tradition and Wins). That is my point! I would like to see us be very simple, clear and to the point ie. Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Baylor Bears, SMU Mustangs. I'm sure that my thoughts on this subject are over reaction. Will stick to my guns however and say that we should be "UNT Eagles". If we have to hold onto the "Mean Green" then lets be the "Mean Green Eagles". Just the "Mean Green" is weak. If you were to poll 100 outsiders that are long time, avid college FB fans, I feel my thoughts would be supported. Finally, our school name is one of the "directional" varieties. That in itself brands us as a second class citizen in the D-1 FB world. Ever notice how the top tier teams schedule all of the directional schools for easy non-conference wins. If we present a clear, firm, non-confusing mascot of strength, good looking unis and then put a good Team on the field, we can break out of this stereotype. At the present time, we firmly fit all three characteristics. I know the Team part is about to change. It would be nice to change the other two while we are at it!!!
  18. Zeke is on the right track. Eagle too big for helmet in this example. But, Eagle on helmet is way to go!! Really want to see us move more toward Eagle references as opposed to saying we are a mean color. Again, if not mistaken, that reference came from Joe Greene days. Those days also gone. If oldtimers cannot let go then let's use the "mean green EAGLES". Eagle as a mascot is a great one. Eagle represents: speed, courage, fierce hunter etc.! There are plenty of lame mascots such as: badgers, cardinals, zips, ducks, horny frogs, and on and on. I think we should be proud of Eagle and emphasize vs minimize. Anybody agree? PS. I am newcomer to Eagle Nation so am not bliinded by the trees. Feel like I am looking at the entire forest.
  19. NO, NO and NO!
  20. I say let TD and Team decide on new unis/helmets if they want to. Its a new day! I say a new look is in order and definitely appropriate. The old UNT FB program is dead. If we clean house, lets clean house!!
  21. I am certain I heard Renner intro Wasson as "Hal Sutton" yesterday on broadcast. Anyone else catch that. Cracked me up. Wasson was very composed and went right along with it. Renner is definitely goofy. Good for the job however.
  22. AMEN to that!!
  23. And, he is not even here yet!! Any doubt this was an awesome hire? NO, NO and NO!!
