  1. Really hate to hear/see this sentiment. As I have said numerous times, we should be very proud of the Eagle as our mascot. The mean green evolution has gone too far. We have been and should remain the Eagles of UNT! If we must keep the mean green reference (which I think is just fine), lets use it as "mean green Eagles" or keep it as defense name ala Nebraska's "black shirt" defense. Mean Green was originally coined for the defense because of Joe Greene being the anchor. Let's get this reference back on track and not refer to us in general as the "mean green" of UNT. If anyone agrees, please chime in.
  2. Navy T-Shirt not in good taste as mocked up above.
  3. TOTALLY on board with ya trud1266 on all fronts!! The live Eagle making a intro flight into the stadium (like Auburn) is awesome. I don't even consider that copying Auburn. Its original for us since after all, we are the EAGLES for crying out loud. It's only natural! Don't think we would be ridiculed for copying Auburn as they are the Tigers. How do you connect the eagle and Tigers? The reality is that they have been copying us. Its just that we have not awakened to do what is our right!! Let's wake up!!! Have put up my soap box on the helmet and identity issue up for the past several months. But, since it has been mentioned again, allow me to repeat. Don't care what color the helmet is. If easier to spot receivers being white then for petes sake, use white helmets! One issue solved! Next, and this supports who we are. I think we should emphasize being the UNT EAGLES!!!!!!! The Eagle is our country's mascot. The Eagle is a sign of speed, courage, strength, agility, grace and on and on and on. Why don't we emphasize this vs relating to a color (mean green). IMO, this is really very lame. I just cannot get attached and fired up over being called a mean color. I can be proud of Eagle comparison for reasons stated above. Next, in keeping with being the Eagles, let's put an Eagle on our helmets. Really like the one in trud1966's avatar. It is graphicly pleasing and emphasizes who we are. If the script hounds have to see lettering then place NT or UNT inside the Eagle. Finally, if "mean green" has been around so long that the ole timers cannot part with it then lets add Eagles on the end. We have to come back to the Eagles somehow. My perception is that we hear only "mean green" more often than "Eagles" or "mean green Eagles" on the radio, TV and even the stadium PA announcer. Guess I am more traditional in staying the course with mascot and identity and not diluting/convoluting what is one of the best mascots in the USofA regardless of sports level (hs, college or pro). If not mistaking, somehow one player altered the identity (mean Joe Greene) of UNT. Maybe ok for his era but not right for eternity of school. My naysayers repeatedly refer to Alabama and Crimson Tide. If your school mascot is an elephant (or yellow bellied whipperwill or golden throated warbler) than by all means do all you can to divert attention to some other form of identity (poor example). Yes, "mean green" it is unique but that doesn't mean it isn't weak. Let's compromise! Go "MEAN GREEN EAGLES"!! Anyone agree? Thanks for listening! The dog has been spared this morning. Still not in Plumm Mean Green status though (not multi-colored and not long enough).
  4. not to worry emmitt. someone will step up and run the offense as TD wants. so far, all of the QBs have shown promise. it will boil down to who makes the most positive plays, avoids negative plays and turnovers.
  5. As I always say "the harder you work, the luckier you get"! TD obviously has been very diligent for some time now to have so many positives come his way. Well deserved!! He might as well keep it up. It will be fun to see what happens next!
  6. In my opinion, Kinne is overrated. Chances are that Kinne will never start or even play a down at QB at Texas. He should not be a threat to Riley if he chooses Horns. If he plays its because there just isnt another body at the position. Texas is definitely thin at QB since VY ran off most prospects then bolted a year early.
  7. Strongly disagree Dallas Green! If the horse throws you, get back on and ride it again. If not, you will forever be afraid of it. I say lets get healed (now in progress with TD) and get back on that horse in 2010. The outcome will be much different I am sure. I hope we schedule Texas again. In case I did not mention, how about 2010?! My prediction is that we will beat them by then!!
  8. Vizza is the next Drew Brees subsequently, he has been appointed the next four year starter for Eagles. Riley may not be able to unseat Vizza so he best look elsewhere for the QB position. Can he play DB or Slot Rcvr maybe? Bet he wants to continue down QB path. Will be interesting for sure!
  9. Anyone have access to RV? If so, please put this bug in his ear. Would like a chance to play Texas again in 2010. I think we will be in a position to give them a much better game by then.
  10. Seems everyone thinks this guy is "can't miss". We might as well go ahead and put his name in the record books for next four years. Just fill in the blanks at end of each season. Scott Hall who?
  11. That would be great. I used to work for him. He is as good or better in person than his reputation which is sterling. Me may do it. Would give him a reason to come watch his alma mater play.
  12. Funny, my thoughts too. Visit the site for updates/new news several times daily. Figured the company "Internet Police" saw number of hits to non business related site and said "no mas". Glad that not the case!!
  13. Did yall see the pic of three Arkansas players standing on sideline. Camera angle from behind the bench. Players names are Moore, Goode and Dick. Priceless!!!
  14. As TD refers to new offense. "We're gonna put the ball in the paint"!. Yea baby!!
  15. Parents definitely ruin youth sports for the kids and calm parents when they act like this. Real shame!
  16. Thank god is right!! I bet they will look good. Excited to hear about helmet change also. Things looking up all the way around!
  17. very nice work. like the Eagle on helmet. my bet is we will get new unis. will have to wait and see!!
  18. I am with you on Eagle. It is way cool! Our cool quotient is not very high right now. Always hope!!
  19. Same thought occurred to me. This is a sticky situation. Maybe RV will have to host/MC it. No way Dickey or the other coaches come back. We will see!
  20. oh, how bout an inflatable jump room?
  21. Might as well have Skippy the Clown there to make balloon animals and offer face painting.
  22. Nate Newton is not the "brightest bulb" in the box. That answer was totally inappropriate. In this day and time, I doubt there are any "pay for play" schools. Since the SMU death penalty, that stuff has gone away (i hope). Not to say there aren't any rogue alums out there but coaches and institutions are not promoting.
  23. Absolutely this is a great idea! It should be held after signing day so fans/alums can meet a coach(s) and get the run down on signing class. UT does this in Dallas every year. They send one of the coaches to address attendees at the Park Cities Club over a lunch. Good PR and a bit of a fund raiser. Great event! Let's do it!!
  24. Anyone notice how rough and haggard our players look in the game day Program? I really hope that TD and staff will pay attention to this detail. I would like to see them in white shirts, ties and sport coat with hair combed (if longer)! It would also be great if a tie and sport coat could be the road game travel attire. I think its a sign of a "team" and shows respect (for themselves and opponent), discipline and business like focus. Anyone share these thoughts?
