It was pretty good night. I would guess approximately 75 people there. Coach Littrell had to head back to Denton, so he wasn't there. Coaches Hedlund, McCasland, and Palileo were there and shared some stories about their season. WB was there to lead things off.

I plan on joining you there. -
Now for the positive stuff from New Orleans
Keith Fever replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Harry, good to see you and other Mean Green fans in such a great city. Last year Patrick and I went to Middle Tennessee. Someday, I hope to get the chance to invest time and money on a road trip where we get a win. -
Best fan ever.

Nation of Texas College Football Rankings- Week Four
Keith Fever replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
While this list is ridiculous and UTSA hasn't played anyone, I have had 3 people mention how well UTSA is doing so far this year and reference their 3-0 record. I brought up the quality of opponents but they didn't really care. "No losses means they're doing something right." I invited them all to watch the Mean Green play in the Alamo Dome in years to come. -
Thanks for organizing the Austin event. It was fun being surrounded by a bunch of Longhorn fans in a bar that did not have Longhorn Network. They were forced to watch the Mean Green and look for UT score updates on the ticker.

Buddy of mine at work is an App State fan so he is excited about the potential of this. See their President's letter to their alumni in this article. He's pretty frank about why they aren't an ideal candidate but still in the mix. Apparently East Carolina might be their SMU though. http://www.sbnation....ate-realignment

A co-worker/ App State alumn sent me this article. http://www.southernpigskin.com/acc/view/app-state-to-conference-usa "Appalachian State has been looking at moving up to the FBS and it appears Conference USA is listening."

Happy Birthday Sparky!

Thanks for getting that up so quickly guys, nice work. Rice will be a good home game and Army will be a good away game. Is Clemson the other OOC other than K-State? If K-State drops us, that shapes up as a nice schedule.

Where Did You Guys And Gals Watch The Game?
Keith Fever replied to risinggreen's topic in Mean Green Football
David is an Alumni Association member from Dallas that filled in for the Alumni Association person that got sick and was unable to make the trip to Austin. David got the swag and brought it down to Austin for the game just to help out. I could have also thanked the other David that was there - my boss who is an alum from the late 70s who has not been to a game since then. I think he might come to a game with me now. -

About 20 of us at Champion's sports bar in downtown Austin. Good times. Alumni Association sent a lot of freebies - schedules, notebooks, license frame, posters. Thanks David! -
My wife and I are going to hear Dr. Bataille give her State of the University presentation at the Bob Bullock State History Museum in Austin tomorrow night. Anyone else going?

Food Places In Austin
Keith Fever replied to UNT_92_Fan's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Shady Grove on Barton Springs is great. Very Austin. Go to Mount Bonnell for a great view or Zilker Park and rent a canoe to go on the lake if you want to be outdoors. Phil's Ice House is a great burger with an Amy's Ice Cream right next door. -
Are there any Austin area fans that would like to carpool up to Denton Saturday afternoon / Sunday morning to see the Spring game and come back Sunday night? Split gas and if we are there Saturday night I've got a poker game we could attend and a place for you to crash. Let me know. Keith Reeves 512-944-3049

Great job guys, thanks for the recap. Wish I could've been there.

Interesting that the highest rated Sunbelt team is 1-AA Western Kentucky. -

Another reason could be there were 5-6 pro scouts at the game. -
Channel 52 is the broadcast channel. It will be different on most systems. Charter Cable in Denton is channel 6.

Those apathetic Dentonites approved a bond for a $21 million stadium. Once again I feel the need to point out that Denton is not the big problem here, it is our alumni and students. But the majority of attendance complaints on here are due to citizens of Denton not supporting a program that was not even supported very much by the school until the last 5-6 years. The Ryan game was an away game that didn't start until 8 or 9pm on a school night. Southlake has 1 high school. I don't see the big deal. BTW, that title was from 5 years ago. Doesn't appear to be relevant anymore.

I have also heard that the same logo in brick design will be installed in various streets around campus. Should look nice.

RV told me the eagle will NOT be on the helmets, but it will be a version of "North Texas" or "Mean Green." He also said that the eagle could be incorporated into the stadium somehow though.

All this talk of water reminded me that the stadium was sold out of bottled water at halftime. At least the alumni side vendors were sold out.
