  1. don't get me wrong. i want the best for mitchell and the team, but this year is the worst year for a potential one and done. last year with white and thompson the team could have possibly made it to the second round or further. next year, hopefully with an eligible williams and jones and with the addition of an actual center with experience (odoh) they could do the same. this year had promise, but even with all starters available i don't know if they get past mtsu and to the tourney. just bad timing is all. my UNT basketball heart is nervous, but my tony mitchell pants are going crazy!
  2. damn! i love to hear that man talk! also, thought it was awesome that he threw in the go mean green at the end!
  3. Damn it! I really didn't want this to happen. It would've been nice to get a lb his size in there with stok and orr.
  4. This is a topic I've thought about transfere a bit and this idea was what came to mind. But, I don't know how much it would increase the odds of someone coming that wouldn't usually come, because the odds of 15000:1 seem unrealistic for most. So, what about increasing the odds and lowering the cost of the prize? Maybe give away a semesters worth of books for 6 students given out throughout the game. Not that it increases the odds all that much, but it helps some and keeps the students there throughout the game and not stumbling from the parking lot at halftime. That's 30 winners a year and then at the last game there could be a grand prize for someone who has been at every game or most spirit throughout the season or something. Or maybe the prizes could be a free semesters worth of food from Rudy's or ice cream from Beth Marie's, pizza, coke, cash, apartment for 9 months or BEER! You know, things college students need and the university/atheletic department has partnerships with already. As far as alumni, other sort of give aways maybe, but mostly winning. Both residents and alumni attendance will increase once we start winning and that in my opinion is on it's way. The main focus is the students though. They are the closest to the stadium and would make the biggest impact at the games, volume wise and in numbers.
  5. I love the matte helmets! Although, I think our current color of green wouldn't be as nice as the black of asu or dark green of Baylor.
  6. There was only one other school (OU) that had 2 players there. The only dunk I thought held a candle to Tony's was the behind the back dunk by Perry Jones towards the end. I can't wait for Jackson State!
  7. That 40 time with a grade of 40? The guy must be blind.
  8. With the addition of the Feldt brothers and a year of working out and experience under the youngsters belts on the O-line, I think the offensive line will be one of our better units. We could definitely use some defensive lineman though, defensive end specifically.
  9. He said we had 22 assists, but your point is still valid. J-will had as good of game as I've seen from him this year. Franklin had another very solid game and Alzee played well. Everyone else seemed to struggle a bit. I've said this a couple of times this year and it's stating the obvious, but once Mitchell gets cleared we will be a much better team. Our percentage of putbacks from all these offensive rebounds will go way up, he'll be able to create his own shot, which will lead to more space for some of these forced shots. Also, he'll help out on the defensive side. This game wasn't played that well, but was a definite step in the right direction.
  10. I did all that and got too lazy at the end. Fixed it Thanks
  11. In the last 6 years we are 2-4 against UTA, it's far from time to panic. I'm not saying we'll win 20 this year, but step off the ledge. 06'...lost to them in game 3 and went on to win the belt. 07'...lost to them in game 4 and ended up losing in the quarters to wku. *this was Josh and Tristan's freshman year. 08'...lost to them in game 12 and ended up losing to wku in the semis 09'...beat them in game 2 by 2 points in double OT in game 2 and won the belt 10'...beat them in game 6 and lost in the finals to ualr. 11'...you know what happened in game 3. Granted the games above were all within 10 points, but it shows that one, we struggle against this team and two, that a loss to them isn't the end of the world. Also, we've won 20 games in every one of the seasons above.
  12. And we're no #18 either. I think his point is that those were two teams that were similar in talent like UTA and us. Also, it shows that these losses happen to teams in the top 20 as well.
  13. The talent is probably there, but you can't expect freshman to come out and dominate the game or even play well night in and night out. We're not the top 10 teams who can start two or three 5 star recruits and coast to the elite 8. These are three star recruits on a young team where the only returning players have average talent (at best) and the other non freshmen are transfers in their first year. They will need time to get their legs under them and figure out what JJ wants from him and how to do it. There will be more of these to come, maybe not this bad, but bad.
  14. Does anyone have a ticket they aren't using for the WKU game?
  15. they pull off the upset! nice job ladies!
  16. I thought j-will would be a lot further along than he is. maybe by mid December he'll have calmed down and if he hasn't, mitchells presence should give everyone a little more space. This way they don't have to throw up rushed shot after rushed shot.
  17. Awesome!
  18. Looking back over the year so far I think our defense was considerably better than last years squad (minus a couple of games against belt opponents), but when you look at the stats from last year to this year the only spots that we are better are against the run, sacks and in fumbles recovered. I thought this years numbers would have looked a little better. these numbers were suprising/interesting to me, so I thought I'd share. ***note-last years numbers are through 12 games.*** 2010 2011 Points/game- 29.7 33 Yards/game- 394.4 443.8 Rushing yards- 2219 1570 Passing yards- 2514 2868 Fumbles recovered- 5 14 Interceptions- 9 9 Sacks- 19 26 I'm very happy with our defense, just thought the numbers would reflect the improvement.
  19. That's really good news, but I hope he can make it back to have a chance at the record?
  20. I love reading stories like these. So glad to have men like these on our team.
  21. They were Nike, I saw the swoosh on the shorts. I just don't like the style of the shorts. I've seen them before, just on other teams (ark state maybe) and hated them.
  22. The shorts look like capris. They aren't baggier just longer. They are the most disappointing part of this night, by far.
