i don't think canales was restricted all that much here. i remembered seeing somewhere that usf fans were posting similar things about canales being predictable in his time there and when i couldn't find the posts anywhere i just started my own asking them if the things we bitch about are the same things they bitched about. almost all said that they were. one even posted a link to the univ of arizona board that said the same thing as us also. heres the link to the usf board and a quote from the u of a board that i thought sounded familiar. http://thebullspen.com/index.php?/topic/89174-question-about-a-former-offensive-coordinator/#entry1099500 quote from u of a board member. With Canales the pass was non existent and overall offensive totals were sub 300. Now pass is predominant with 300+ total offense the norm and scoring up from 20 to 30 ppg. Now the offense puts us in the game and provides opportunities to win, whereas, the previous offense controlled the clock but did not score. That didn't keep the Cats in the game. To sit there and call for the reinstituting of an offense that WASN'T working is completely ludicrous.

Lineup I'd Like to See Tonight
Green Crazy replied to MeanGreenHoops's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Holmen is a double-edged sword. While he is our best outside option, he is 6'8" of non rebounding meh. Niko and Holmes should never be out on the floor together because then you have two worthless rebounders out there. Whatever they do Mitchell needs to try and stay close to the basket on offense, because he's the only one worth a damn rebounding wise. He keeps drifting towards the three point line because he's having very little success inside, so when we miss our shot nobody is there to get it for us. If Coleman is in the game then Mitchell is allowed to go outside every once in a while. So, I too would like to see Mitchell and Coleman together more. Hardwick Alzee Franklin Mitchell Coleman -

You beat me to it. Someone needs to edit that into an avatar. -
did anyone happen to hear the end of the women's game? petersen was talking to bartalotta (sp?) within 45 seconds after the end of the game and he was pissed at the girls, his staff and himself. not that he's doing a bang up job, but at least he's accountability.

jones needs to come off the bench until he can stop making one handed cross court passes that get stolen. the box score said he had 3 turnovers, but he had to of had at least 4 by my count. he's playing like someone who knows he's going to fail a class and not be eligible again. tony is horrible at creating his own shots and half-asses 30% of the time. the rest of the team besides franklin is just as bad. did anyone watch their shooting in warmups, either before the game or before half? i shit you not, they probably hit 30% of those shots and they weren't even fucking guarded!!! this might of been my last home game this year. i'll need to see a lot of improvement before driving out there for another game.
-
wrong, dude. this team has been shooting like this all season regardless of the opponent. y'all shot well, but once again, everyone shoots well against us. we can never get the ball down low to tony and we have been outboarded by half the teams this year. y'all aren't bad, but right now, we are.

i think akunne and whitfield both did very well.

Setting the record straight on Mac's recruiting
Green Crazy replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
The thing is is everyone is going to use next year as a measuring stick for success, but the talent level we play against will probably be better. So, I don't see our record being much better if better at all. Our talented players might look mediocre and average players look bad. This will give the Mac haters something to point at and say, see he's not improving. It will also give the supporters another reason to give him one more year. I think to say he's not recruiting well is premature, next season it will be easier to tell. However, I've always heard that you recruit ol, dl,cb's and qb's and Mac hasn't done much recruiting of corners or quarter backs. Next year will give us a good idea of how well he's done on ol and dl. So far his coaching has far better than the previous staff and it seems better than the dd days when I first started following the team, but its hard to compare them. So, I'm afraid we'll be having this same argument next year. Fun for us. -
All passes throne by dt are the most risky pass we could attempt. His low football iq coupled with his accuracy problems are HUGE problems for this offense. On his 3rd qtr interception powers was running free down the middle of the field, with no one behind him, but he throws it to a guy with two defenders around him and doesn't come close to the wr.

it could be rice, moss, irvin and tony gozalez out there, but if we don't have someone who can get them the ball then it won't matter.

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (11/19/12)

now that's douchery at it's finest! so awesome! -
This! Even when throwing to chancellor he was over throwing/under throwing/missing him if he were open (minus a couple of long throws they connected on). Just look at the simple crossing patterns over the middle that he's consistently off target on. Those aren't hard passes, but half the time he hits someone on the defense. Our WRs are very average, but there are plenty of times that they are missed when open, plenty.

Watching the UNT vs ULM game...
Green Crazy replied to North Texas Shep's topic in Mean Green Football
you can watch it there, but you have to pay and they don't let you pay by the month. 3 months for $33 a year for $36 and something in between. i watched the basketball game fine last night, not sure what your issue was. -
I agree, but to say his ride should be taken away is crazy talk.
-
because you're asking a true freshman to do something (shoot 40%) that only 35 guys did in division I basketball last year and only two of those 35 were freshman (not sure if they were true freshman). i will say he's got a much better chance of making some threes, than growing a couple of inches or being able to lock down a 2 guard. i don't see the last of those two ever being a possibility. i never said that overlander should be playing or deserves to play right now. the best thing he has is his outside shooting and if that's not there, then he's taking up space on the offensive side and a liability on the defensive side. the games too fast for him right now, but i think next year or even the second half of this year he'll start to come around. i don't expect his numbers to get better than 25% from behind the 3 pt line this year. he should only be getting empty minutes at the end of games or be in due to injury or foul trouble to the three guards you listed. the thing is, is because of benford our lineups are like texas weather, if you don't like it, wait a few seconds and it will change. so i'm afraid that we'll keep seeing this kid struggle until benford changes or the game slows down for overlander.
-
this is one of the most ridiculous post ever posted. i don't believe anyone on the team besides tony shot over 40% from 3 pt last year and you expect a mortal freshman to do it? and then, if he doesn't to pull his ride?
-
congrats ladies! one more to go!

Happy birthday!

Actually, I take it back. I would like to hear the announcers talk about benford's substitutions.
