You're right, it was 14-10 on that drive where their qb hit Smith in the hands and he dropped it with about 1:30 or less in the first half. Then they punt to us and we fumble inside our 20, and then held them to a field goal making it 14-13 at the half. In your scenario it would have been 17-14 them at half. We were both wrong.

I just rewatched the game and the only one of those I saw was the one towards the end of the first half. That would have made the game 14-14

I grew up with this coaching and didn't mind it and if I had a son in sports I wouldn't mind him having a coach like this, but this type of coaching has a short shelf life. Even if you're doing well it gets old and his career reflects that, not being at the same place for very long in a 40 plus year career (i know other things can playinto that). This is a different world whether we like it or not and most kids don't want to play for someone who is tomato faced so much. Maybe this was a rough game for him and he doesn't get in the red much more this season. I sit in front of the defensive bench at home games and he didn't do this too often from what I remember.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think he would be great? I'm not against a former player being in the booth or anything like that, but it's wrong to assume he would be good at broadcasting just because he played.

What he said. Not that it can't be done, especially if the guy is super quick and can get outside to stop a speed rush and/or they are able to maintain good enough leverage to withstand a bull rush. Justvlooked at utep's defensive ends and not one is listed over 6'2". Not sure that will happen again this year. I like Duncan, just would like him more at guard.

It makes me nervous to have a 6'2" guy at tackle.

You make it seem as if the guy refuses to change off of Aune. I think it's obvious he doesn't want him to start. Two years ago Bean started the season and Aune and him went back and forth at a less than impressive manner that Aune ended up winning (against half the board's approval). Last year he gave Ruder two games before giving it to Aune and Ruder had the luxury of the starters playing before they got hurt, then Aune took over and didn't do well. Now, Aune was throwing to a walk-on (our best receiver last year) and 2nd and 3rd teamers, but also made horrible decisions/throws. FYI, I'm not a Aune fan and wish we had someone better. It seems he knows Aune isn't the answer but goes back to him after his other choice does worse. Hopefully, Gunnell is the guy that takes over in the second half of the smu game like Fine did and rights the ship.

Ummm, I think that list is way wrong. Using Wikipedia, I checked just UT, Baylor, A&M and Tech and only Kyle Field shows to have real grass. I think the list is saying every game played by those teams will be played on a artificial surface and non on a grass field.

Besides not getting to see the practice because I got there at 11:15 and not 10:15, it was the best set up and best attended one I've been to. The only other issue we had is they kept running out of pizza and you had to be close when the new pizza showed up or you'd miss it. I was shocked at the attendance because of the lack of interest/excitement I thought surrounded this season.

Wrong. Cody Campbell and Jeff Sellers are both former players at Tech and sold their oil company (Double Eagle) for 6.4 billion. I'm pretty sure they won't be leaving after a .500 season.

Doesn't make sense. With a school who struggles with attendance like us you should save the games with a better expected attendance for a non homecoming game because homecoming should be a draw enough on its own. That being said I hope we destroy them.
