At the beginning of the year I had two goals for this team, win one or both of the smu, tulsa games and to finish the year with a winning record. Sure, I wanted much more, but realistically, after last season I wasn't expecting much. So, for me if they win out it will save the season as far as making this program look somewhat decent (from the outside). This doesn't mean I don't want to see changes made to the staff, but a 7-5 or even a 6-6 record will look much better to a recruit than a losing record.

I'm not saying that NT will go 8-4 or even 7-5, I just don't want another 5-6 bowl team.

I'll take a NO bowl bid no matter what, but I'd like to get it by MTSU losing 2 and Troy and LL losing to us (us winning out). Basically, I don't want to fall into it.

No, I wasn't at the games 20 years ago. No, I wasn't at the games when we were losing in the SLC, but that's because I didn't have the chance to, not because I didn't like the way the program was being run. Ask me 20 years from now if I stuck it out through the end of the Dickey era and I'll be able to say yes. And in my original post I stated, "There are some legitimate reasons for missing the game, but UT vs OU and not liking DD or RF are not legitimate reasons!".

The reason why we had a severe drop off between the first and second home game is obvious, if you remember who we played in the first game. From your post it sounds like you are the kind of fan that distances from a team until they do something you approve of, like winning. If so, that is not a fan. Fans are the reason why Fenway is packed and has been packed for the last 50 years, through the good seasons and the bad seasons, regardless of their feelings for the management of the team. The reason why I had a rampage of a post (earlier) is because if there is one game an alumni goes to a year, it should be homecoming.

This is my thought too. I just don't believe that a young guy like RF would have such a bland, conservative offense. Regardless of who is making the play calls, how many times can you run that same wide receiver screen.

I know who MTSU is, I was just trying to make a point that the outsiders don't know who either of the colleges are.

I expect a better or at least an equal turn out to what we had the week before (by the way who has heard of MTSU), when it wasn't homecoming. If the attendances would have been flipped then I don't think anything of it, but this game should have been the second highest in attendance for the year. We had a much better turn out for last years homecoming with a similar record and a similar opponent.

I do expect to see attendance like last night at regular season conference games, I'm not oblivious to our situation, but I don't expect that at our HOMECOMING game! This game is supposed to be our diehards fans.

Are we there to support the coach at the games or are we there to support the team? I'm definitley not a fan of the coaches, I'm as pissed as anyone is when I see the same wide receiver screen that we ran all night for little gain get one of our best players lit up and taken out of the game for a series. While you give legitimate reasons why the team isn't doing good right now, you give no legitimate reasons for not supporting the team. The definition of a fan is "an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator" people who don't go to the games because they dislike the coaching staff and the teams records are not devoted, their fair weather "fans" and those are the "fans" that this university doesn't need.
