  1. the refs were of very low quality last night. there were two occasions where our players and coaches had to tell them where to spot the ball. one was after fau's unsportsman like penalty and the other i can't really remember, maybe after our onside kick. they were horrible!
  2. that's true. riley was on the field during the second quarter, i saw him walking to the field house with about 30 seconds left (kind of slowly with a slight limp). i don't know if he was out there for the second half.
  3. yea, the players love him because he's a good guy and his main technique to hitting is "positive thinking"...that's the only thing i've ever heard anyone say about him..."he teaches us to believe in ourselfs". if that's the case call dr. phil and let him throw soft toss to the guys in the cage. remember hank blalock when he got to the rangers, he wasn't a dead pull hitter like he is now, but with time he became one. he never pulled ian or josh out of their funks this year, and it took the AAA batting coach could do it for davis. i think this will be the best thing for the young hitters on the team (borbon and andres) the last thing they need to believe is that they are 20 home run guys.
  4. i don't know why everyone thought so highly of rudy, a lot of the talent that he "groomed" did so while they were on steroids. he never taught the teams to situational hit and that cost the rangers this year and in our playoff runs in the late 90's. with that being said, i hope they can find someone better. if they can do this...they win 10 more games and make the playoffs next year.
  5. i think a more accurate comparison is the cowboys and nt. the quarterbacks both hurt and help the team and the defenses that are supposed to be the strength of the team can't stop the most critical drives of the game. if anyone thinks tune would have this offense running better, your nuts. this offense needs a threat to run at qb and he can't give us that, i think baine makes a better argument. tune is no statue, but he would have been sacked 6-8 times against mtsu had he been playing. these turnovers are hurting our chances of winning, but they can be corrected. you can't teach someone to have ability and riley has the ability.
  6. like our team needs to learn how to win, our defense needs to learn to buckle down in the critical situations. that's twice they've given up game winnning td's in the last seconds of the game.
  7. the standard for this team was this low before he got here.
  8. i was thinking the same thing about the smu/tcu/unt rivalry, but for a three pronged pitch fork or triangle/pyramid. something i think would suit our texas culture and hasn't been done yet would be a branding iron with the schools on there or maybe a DD for the denton-dallas county battle (double d battle) between us and smu.
  9. why should this get an a+...it was just another dump off?
  10. i thought i heard from jub jub (george dunham - play by play radio announcer) that 100.7 the word was picked up around texas? either way i think there will be a delay.
  11. could be worse. the only thing bad about 360 is the delay between the game and the radio broadcast...can you get the radio feed in you neck of the woods?
  12. i don't know what part south texas you're in, but it can also be seen on some local/independent tv stations in the houston and san antonio areas. the link above list stations that will be carrying the game. hope this helps. welcome to the board!
  13. as stated by others...after the pick he played well, but a running threat he's not. a plus of his is that he doesn't mind throwing the ball downfield and he's pretty good at it too.
  14. i have a feeling we won't see riley until the ull game on 10/10.
  15. damn it! i really wanted to see how we did with all of our weapons on the field. is 2nd degree seperation is better or worse than a 1srt degree seperation? edit: nevermind, i found out.
  16. you're exactly right! through the first two games this kid has outperformed any of our other players...except cam.
  17. thanks hh, but i they've answered my questions. feel free to review the missed call on the safety though (in my opinion).
  18. play calling had nothing to do with the flat throw by riley or the muffed snap, but some of the play calls last night were questionable. and the the "non-safety" was definitely a blown call, i watched it today.
  19. i don't know how serious this injury is, because i believe riley was playing with the injury for a series or at least a couple of plays. the last play he was in was a 3rd and 15ish from about our 40-45 and he heeved the ball downfield without anyone touching him. does anyone have the game tivo'ed that can back me up on this? i had watched it earlier today, but erased it after watching. i watched that part and rewinded it to make sure that was the case. i don't know when he got hurt, but i suspect it was a series or two earlier where he rolled out to his left and was sacked from behind. anyone else know when he got hurt?
  20. he actually flexed his arms towards their sideline and then turned around while he was still flexing. i think he was doing it towards our student section, not the sideline, but whatever...it's a flag that the refs will throw 99 out of 100 times.
  21. i hate to burst your bubble, but smu is 1-0. i'll settle for unt 2-0 and smu 1-1.
  22. i'll be there, but my wife is out and any guests that i might of brought are probably out. me + 1?
  23. f***, george takes constant kicks to the nuts for supporting his university! he is truly a wonderful representative of the university. i doubt he'll show, but i'll be looking for dan at the game tomorrow. the spandex bet will be funny regardless, but i would love to see dan in them.
  24. ball states numbers came from a different deffensive scheme than this years team, bsu's defense will need some time to gel with the new system. also, i don't know if anyone noticed, but he bsu offensive and defensive lines are smaller than ohio's. this is going to be a much tougher game for both lines...it should be a more even matchup.
  25. i'm not sure...some football announcer. i want to say joe buck, but i don't think it was him. while trying to find the answer i found a fun timewaste though...ticket drops for bob and dan
