Did I Start The Mike Leach Rumor With This Thread?
Green Crazy replied to pogWo4life's topic in Mean Green Football
Probably true, but whatever the offers are...they will be better than ours. -
We do it to our own players/coaches...why wouldn't we do it to others?

Did I Start The Mike Leach Rumor With This Thread?
Green Crazy replied to pogWo4life's topic in Mean Green Football
Its not just todge that thinks we have no shot. I really can't think of any reason leach would want to come here. He'll have 10-15 better offers and we won't be able to pay him the money he'll be offered elsewhere. Can someone enlighten me? -
so canales came in and gave dodge a new look to call his old plays from? it looked a lot like last year when thompson went out, but the whole season? that sir, might be the craziest post i've ever read on this board...and that's a bold statement.
-
i see your point, i just think that all the coaching in the world wouldn't have made jackson not take his eyes off the ball when he was wide open and behind the secondary. that's like an outfielder dropping a routine pop fly...it's lack of concentration.
-
i agree, but didn't we do that last year? i don't remember it helping or maybe it just would have been way worse.
-
then when do mistakes fall on the players?
-
none, but i've heard plenty that we don't spend enough time on tackling drills. they do coach it in the pros, but when roy williams drops a pass, they don't blame the wr coach...it's chalked up to a lack of concentration. if roy williams (the safety) tried to light someone up instead of just wrapping up and tackling they didn't blame the dc. and when was the last time you heard someone blame the coaches for hitting someone out of bounds in the pro's. my point is you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
-
of the things i listed what are coaches supposed to do to prepare the team to watch balls into their hands, wrap up ball carriers and not hit players that are 3 yards out of bounds? who is starting that you think isn't the best option? you're right about recruiting though, they should just sign 5 star recruits and this wouldn't be an issue.
-
our players were most of the reason that we lost the game. besides 3-5 questionable calls on offense, it was all lack of focus from the players. dropped passes, dropped interceptions, bad tackling, bad special team coverage (which could be because of coaching) and a couple of really stupid penalties all coaches can do is put an emphasis on wrapping up and stayin in your lane, they can't do it for them. i'm not saying the past 3 years have been the players fault, but last night it wasn't the coaching that lost the game. i wish people would think about what possible recruits are thinking that are in attendance, when they start their verbal assaults on players/coaches. i would think it plays a part in their decision of choosing our school over another.

because of these two reasons we gave them the ball inside our 37, 6 times, resulting in 22 of their 32 points. this absolutely destroyed us! below is a recap of where they started their drives and what happened. rice 49 - 7 pts (39 yard punt and 6 yard return...followed up with a 51 yard pass for td) nt 26 - 3 pts (we fumbled....50 yd fg, they lost 7 yards on the drive) nt 36 - we blocked a fg attempt (kickoff return to the 50 coupled with a bad personal foul penalty) *when was the last time we blocked a fg? nt 6 - 3 pts (they blocked our punt and got 0 yards on the drive) nt 36 - 3 pts (21 yd punt by us they got 6 yds on the drive) rice 35 - punt rice 14 - punt rice 15 - punt nt 26 - 7 pts (we fumbled...22 yd pass for td on 3rd and 6) rice 21 - j. phillips intercepted pass in the endzone rice 27 - punt rice 31 - missed 44 yd fg rice 21 - 3 pts (24 yd fg) rice 40 - punt nt 37 - 6 pts (43 yd punt and 16 yd return from our 10) *this was the riley call rice 23 - punt our defense gave up 32 last night and they did a hell of a job holding them to that, considering the positions they were put in. turnovers and special teams cost us the game.

I'm curious to what you think we could pull together to get him here. We pay dodge mid 200's. He was making close to 3 mill, if I'm not mistaken. You think our alum could do that?
-
Fwiw...I have season tickets and the one of the two I need tickets for is possible future student and the other is my 3 year old daughter (who already knows the fight song) who will probably be in my arms or my wifes lap for most of the game, but still requires a ticket. Usually my extras get their own tickets, just not this time.
-
fwiw, i think it would be a good idea, i used it multiple times last year. .
-
Silver, i tried to pm you, but it says you're not able to receive new messages.
-
Does anyone happen to have some extra tickets on the alum side? I've got a couple of friends that will attend...I will need 2-3, but any would help. I can get them from the ticket office, but I'd rather not pay face value if I don't have to, I am willing to pay though. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Chad

Interesting Video And Review Of Clemson Game

...i think it was kige ramsey. -
i don't care how old or young you are...you've got to be able to see that that was a bad call. a boise st. wr did the old hulk hogan, hold your hand behind the ear motion to the vt fans and that didn't get called, i consider that to be worse than what dc did. it's too subjective of a rule and it's taking some of the emotion from the game. i don't want to see the late 80's hurricanes anymore, but come on! that being said, i want dc and everyone else who scores a td from here on out to do their best barry sanders imitation and just jog to the sideline....unless we're playing smu and we're up by 30. and yes, i believe mr. carey will be all conference by the time he leaves here.

my gift was a tumbler too. i would much rather get the gift certificate.

Not that it's going to be a cake walk, but that had to be the toughest game we will play all year, right? I think it's possibly the best offense well see with their size and speed (although i don't think they had their best game), it's the best defense we'll see and definitely the roughest environment we'll be in. So, does it only get better from here? No 40+ point, 500 yard games for the opponents this year? Is this a 7-8 win year?

Jj johnson is out this half. Leppo has replaced him...I saw him holdin his knee at end of first half.
-
that was quick! i applaud you for that, but i hope you never have access to the "red button". bomb the f'ers!......nevermind, i take it back.

i believe canales is the one who calls the plays now.
