the main reson i didn't want to stray away from canales is because of the changes that come with turnover at the coaching position. now, unless we retain canales to be the oc (which i doubt), we have to get our 3rd oc in the last 3 years and probably our 3rd dc in the last 4 years. this will at best leave us treading water our first year in the new stadium. i'm not saying that mac won't be a good coach, but he won't be the best decision for next year.

the only positive besides experience that i can see in this hire (if it happens) is that his age would keep him from leaving in 5 years if he has success. i don't think any university that would be considered a step up from us would consider hiring a 62 year old coach. which means if he does well we will have a coach for 10 or so years giving us a little continuity on the coaching staff. if we were to make a correct hire on some young hotshot, then he would bolt for a better job in 4-6 years leaving us without a hc and i don't think rv would be able to hire two good coaches in a row, killing any momentum we would have.

i heard about his packing up the day of the fiu game and i trust my source enough to believe it's true. since that day i've been done with him. that's way worse than gio leaving and people can't stop putting him down. that was a douch bag thing to do and sends a direct message to the team that if you don't like a situation, just give up and go through the motions.

There is a huge population of tech fans/grads in the dfw area, in fact this is where their highest percentage of students come from. There should be more tech fans than there were okst fans. I say add 500-750. I say 7500-8500.

Do you have to have season tickets for basketball to get into the green room? Do they serve alcohol in there?

fiu is the best team in the belt as far as i'm concerned. troy got rolled by a team that we nearly beat and fiu gave it to them today as well...they're not as good as they have been the last couple of years and niether is mtsu.

ark st. and rice, maybe...fiu, not a chance. they rolled us and nobody could have turned that game to a w. i like the attitude he brings...he's a motivator, unlike dodge or dickey who were both pretty reserved. the true test for a coach like him is when things are bad, then how will the team react. i'm not gonna lie after the first half and really the first quarter the play calling was very dodge like and they beat us in the second half. also, pretty sloppy game as far as penalties and fumbles are concerned and our secondary is horrible, but i don't blame coaches for penalties, those are based on how smart your team is..and ours isn't very smart (see akpunku). a win is awesome though. i think we can beat ulm to finish up 4 - 8. i'm not sure if i would give him the job, but he's definitely my leader going into the clubhouse.

personally, i don't think he's stepped up. he's been this way the whole time. he fought through injuries last year too as well as the freshman learning curve. he's been this way the whole time he's been here. in my opinion...he's our mvp for this year, without question.

when's the last time we've hit a field goal over 50 yards? and it was into the wind!
