  1. The offense may be phenomenal, as in averaging 40+ points a game. It may end up being one of if not the best in North Texas history. And, we could still end up winning fewer games than in 2018. I fear that some of us are really underestimating how the defensive losses will factor into all this--not to mention the coaching shakeups.
  2. Also, we have won more than our share of close games, which is a credit to our players and coaches, but let's keep this is perspective: we still have not yet beaten a team with a winning record in conference play. While we are likely headed for a good final record, we are probably also facing several losses that some will find surprising.
  3. Even in games we have won, the offense has looked anemic for quite some time now.
  4. Unfortunately, after some ugly wins in conference and now two losses to bad teams, we might have to admit that we aren't nearly as good as we thought we were based on the early season results.
  5. We all knew we were going to lose some conference games, but that UTSA team is going to finish in the middle of CUSA at best. If we really are a good team, then we must not drop a second conference game to a bad team.
  6. It just doesn't feel like we're going to get into a rhythm this time.
  7. He seems more confident this season taking the open perimeter shots when defenders are daring him to do so, which makes me think he worked on those in the off-season. So, the inconsistent free throws has to be psychological, right? I guess some players need the pacing and speed of the game to get comfortable (Bruce Bowen comes to mind).
  8. Good write up overall, but I'm confused by this point: "UNT will head out on the road for its first games away from the Super Pit in C-USA play." What about Rice?
  9. It's hard to disagree with any of this assessment. I think we need to give a lot of credit to Louisiana Tech. With a shallow bench, they identified a couple matchup advantages and exploited them repeatedly until they were back in the game. They looked to me like the better team for large stretches of the second half. Still, if we have the kind of team that can close out tough games against the other CUSA contenders, then we are in good shape. 14-1 is a hell of an accomplishment. Going from where we were a couple years ago to the best start in school history is almost unfathomable.
  10. Free throws . . . damn
  11. Oh he absolutely is. I just mean that Louisiana Tech's inside defense has given us fits at times and redirected a number of shots.
  12. We just don't seem to have any way of penetrating their defense in the post, and we are completely helpless unless the threes start falling.
  13. We remained at 3 votes in the Coaches Poll for the second straight week. I'm honestly not too worried about the number of votes right now. Looking at the ranked teams, there are probably only 2 or 3 of them (if that) that we could seriously argue have similar or worse resumes. I think what's important at this point in the season is to simply show up as a team receiving votes and thus stay on everyone's radar. Regardless of our schedule strength, if we keep winning, everything will take care of itself in due time.
  14. Obviously the NCAA tournament is the goal, but I would love to enter the CUSA tournament with a regular season title and NIT bid wrapped up.
  15. We finally got a vote in the AP poll.
  16. We need to chisel away at Johns Hopkins's stranglehold of Chesapeake Bay-area lacrosse recruits.
  17. If one (or both) of the teams had been local, I wonder if that would have increased the odds of rescheduling for the next day.
  18. This is about to spiral out of control if we aren't careful the next couple minutes.
  19. Very happy to finally beat them! Hell, they lost something like their top 8 scorers from last season and still were tough. Fun rivalry!
  20. I guess we're just never going to beat this team again. Every year. Same thing.
  21. I mean, Vito was kind of the only reporter to get the story correct from the beginning. Maybe he's slower because he's actually fact checking and confirming his sources.
  22. We had a couple near meltdowns but recovered each time, especially after timeouts, so that it didn't get TOO scary.
