Yes. We get your point. Now, maybe you can wait until we've had a couple of games before you raise it again.

Well, we don't have too long before we begin to find out what is what. -
DRC/MGB: UNT hopes summer work on passing game pays
IslandEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree. I am gratified that both they and Mac have put in so much work this summer. I sincerely hope it pays off. I guess we will know in a month or so. -
MGB breaking news -- Aniefiok will not return
IslandEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Well, given the short notice, I think that it is a pretty good late replacement. -
Well, I hope that whoever starts is on a short-leash. Either move the offense and score or let another see what they can do.

Julius looked good in the DL drills yesterday.

And it was a reasonable statement given the context. He was part of the team that won a National Championship and has the right to use that as a motivating factor in his talk.

"Although, it may be a little disturbing not to have a bunch of recruits committed at this point; I much rather have that then the commits of a bunch of borderline recruits". Or to get some 3-4 star commits that clearly are waiting for offers from "bigger" programs.

According to Vito there is a chance we may see this son of a former NFL player at North Texas. "Jordan finished his junior year completing 66 percent of his passes (227 of 342) and averaging better than 370 yards per year, according toMaxPreps.com." http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2416255-undersized-and-underrated-jon-kitnas-qb-son-jordan-chasing-1st-offer

SMU Announce 2017 &19 home and home with Ark State
IslandEagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
There will be more ASU fans in the stands at the Ponies "home" game then there will be Mustang fans. -
You going to ask some armed kid his age and for his permit? I had four guns growing up (in the country west of Austin), the thought of some of the kids (even 21 and older) that I grew up with carrying guns in public scares me....they had enough problems with anger management as it was and it got only worse when they drank. Just my opinion and observation.

Lets hope he is really working on those aspects of his game.

6 11" Michael Thomas seems like a much more suitable replacement.

Thank you for stating the obvious in contrast to the conspiracy theorists. Our problem is not McNulty, but the fact that his competition has just not stepped up to the level needed. Way back in the dayswhen I was a child going to Memorial Stadium in Austin, UT had a QB named Mike Cotton who was about as mediocre as you could expect for that level.....but he didn't make mistakes and played within his limits and gave the Horns several winning seasons. Even under Royal, they would go with a QB that at least would give his teammates a chance to win a game by not screwing up big time. Yes, I wish we had a "star", but unless Smith can walk on water, I do not see much other option this year.

Redshirt freshman from Commerce. He had 23 TD passes, against 2 ints. as a junior. -
DRC: Muslim faith guides Ahmed during hoops journey
IslandEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Yes Rick, but if we are to be fair, it wasn't so long ago that hundreds were killed by Catholic and Protestant extremists in Northern Ireland. Currently there is a Christian extremist group in Africa that utilizes child soldiers (Lords resistance group in Uganda). I don't think that Christians necessarily need to apologize for them when they talk of their faith nor do I think that is the case with any other group. All of us are appalled but such activities, but none of us can claim to be part of a group that does not have its own skeletons in the closet. -
I do not care so much what the actual win-loss record is, given the schedule and what needs to be done to bring a large number of new players together. What I do want to see is steady improvement (regardless of whether the result is a win), the emergence of some new stars, a team that has a future beyond next year, and a QB or two I can really believe in.

The unspoken issue is that Benford inherited a couple (actually 3) bad apples, whose main agenda seemed to be that no coach could tell them what to do and that they were far more important than the rest of the team. One of the reasons Benford was cut some slack is that it has taken a while to rebuild team morale. Not to make excuses for him, but AD and his staff were well aware of what was going on. It is possible another coach could have managed it better, but I suspect many coaches would have said "hasta la vista" to these players a little faster than Benford did.

Except that he seems to be bringing a little more to the table than Forrest.

How about the Denton mayor has to watch re-runs of Davy Crockett at the Alamo if UTSA wins and the San Antonio mayor has to watch Necessary Roughness when North Texas wins?
-
Good win for the team. Congratulations!

The problem is that talent and $1 will get you a newspaper. Mitchell still hasn't applied himself, while Combs proves that he can. So yes. in terms of pure talent Mitchell wins, but sports history is filled with talent that was wasted.
