A Reason To Sell / Not Sell Beer At Football Games
houstonmeangreen replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
Move along...move along now. -
Well now it is really in the crapper. RV fired TD...saves his job RV keep TD and TD failure again....RV loses his job.....that is the way I see it.

the negative post are spawn by the piss poor performance of a TG coached team...the worse in history...thats all.

Talked To Rick Tonight About The Stadium
houstonmeangreen replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
NTSC (or maybe it was NTSU) got its name from a typo in Austin....North was added by mistake and UNT just left it in the name...originaly submitted as TSC (or TSU). The history of this was posted at a celebration at UNT when UNT changed it's name to UNT from NTSU...I read this and thought "what a strange way to come by a school's name" -

Talked To Rick Tonight About The Stadium
houstonmeangreen replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
We are not using plans by H&S partners....those were concept plans...the stadium we build will be designed by HKS and the blueprints will be by them also. Don't expect the model you saw to be what you get....how close?, I just don't know, maybe someone else does. RV said the stadium drawings will be done in Nov, but the blueprints for construction will be done after legislature approval because they cost 3.5 million. So, how close will the new stadium be to the model we have by H& S Partners? -

Thanks for the info UNT Flyer. Last time I talked with RV he said after the student approval HKS, inc would finalize the drawings of the actual design in Nov but the actual blueprints, which would cost maybe 3.5 million would be done after the legislative approval. so....I wounder when the drawings of what we are actually going to build are going to be available to post....how close will they be to the model we had by H&S Partners? Any idea? -
What a rant!!! First...I am sure there are plenty of HC talent that would love to have a one in 119 job opportunity at a 35,000 student university in the DFW area. Two...UNT alumni and students will travel if you give them a reason....should have been at the Houston game...where we were humiliated once again. Three...burning several hundred grand is probably cheaper than keeping a losing coach of TD caliber.....suck up and fire him...(I just don't understand why UNT should pay him anything for his failure...obvious he didn't even come close to doing his job...may him get it in court...paying him for eing a failure is STUPID). Forth...the stadium is a done deal...count on it fifth....where to you think some of the money for the AC came from...tennis?...planning , etc for stadium...did you forget about the recent 1.5 million donation by the Goldfields?...how about the million dollar BUS?....there is plenty of money for this program if the University will get off their ass and get this program in gear...stadium, committment, aggressive actions in all respects regarding this program....be agreesive, move faster. RV's reputation can only be harmed by keeping TD another year if TD fails again...not likely TD would even be competitive for several more years...probably never. If RV fires TD then he will gain respect...most will say he will not tolerate failure at UNT and he's our man...a new coach will energize the program again...keeping TD will not...especially if he were to win less than 6-7 games and well.....that 's just not going to happen.

I don't think its him nor do I think its the players. Its just not the right mix of ingredients NO, the answer is "it is him".

To Flyer: Please Clarify The Stadium Funding
houstonmeangreen replied to Green Dozer's topic in Mean Green Football
I was told prior to the vote, by those in charge....you know...that we were just waiting on the vote, that there was money on the sidelines for the stadium (large donations....Mattress Mack? Goldfield?, etc) waiting for the results of this vote. Perhaps that is why the general fans have not been asked for donations yet...My guess is they will start a campaign for general (smaller) donations once they get approval or start breaking gound....also, if you remember, they recent got approval to increase their commercial paper limit to 100 million from 50 million. Also, this RFP for the hotel....this goes with the stadium project somewhat and they are suppose to pick a contractor/proposal in Jan 09....start date unsure.....I know there is not much clarity on all of this, but there isjust too much going on for this stadium not to happen....and as far as bonds go, I think university (revenue?) bonds in Texas are considered very safe...even today....but I'm no bond expert. Again, perhaps RV should let us know a little about what is going on. -
Yes it is. Maybe RV should come on the board and update us to the status of the stadium.....approval, design, funding, groundbreaking, etc. OK RV, now its your turn to post.
-
Wasn't the BOR to meet on Nov 20-21 for business, including the approval of the new stadium?....any news? AND When are we going to see the updated plans fot the stadium? AND Any change in the timelines concerning said stadium?

Choosing Dodge Was A Bold But Risky Choice
houstonmeangreen replied to HoustonEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
That was basicly what was said last year about this year......TD needs to go....look at the stats, the neg publicity and how we are the worse team in unt history....why are all the excuses TD makes never an issue for the HC's we have had in the past....that is they have not totally humiliated the university....which is what TD has done in his short 2 years....Oh, we go some pub nationally last night for the Texas Tech /OU game....the last time OU scoured in the 70's was....you guessed it....UNT last year....ABC put that up on the TV screen for all to laugh at again....thanks once again TD. FIRE DODGE. -
We are all very proud of you Casey....way to go!!
-
Glad to see TD is committed to year 3.....I'm sure NOT committed to TD being around for year 3......RV should get smart and go get Applewhite or someone else with ability to coach a college team because it sure isn't TD.....what more evidence do you need? This window of opportunity will soon be gone RV....don't waste it.

What I Think Is Needed To Have A Better Team
houstonmeangreen replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
You are on the money my friend. Did you see the Tech game va OSU.....Tech looks like a BSC no one to me...remember just a few years ago we could play with these guys...even win. Now we can't whip our own ass with a leather strap.....we are soooooo far behind in every aspect of our football program....terrible.....was watching the UNT southern kentucky (is that their name ?) game. They are just finishing a 50 Million dollar renovation of their stadium....we are 3 years away from being in a new stadium...hope admin doesn't cheap out on the stadium....a real fear here.....we have to quit jacking around and get with the program....that my friends, includes a new coach. -

Losing Football Seasons Start To Fade Away
houstonmeangreen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
On board since Hayden Fry was at UNT......worse team I can remember....unless TD wins ALL remaining games, I think it is time to look elsewhere. I would love for TD to turn this around but as previously posted, I think the stats speak the true story here...and it aint good BEBE REBOZO. -

You won funny guy!!

Also, since they're teams aren't 0-8 and getting smoked by the likes of Florida International, they don't need an excuse for not being able to do their job. And, I doubt either of them would throw their own players under the bus so publicly anyway It seems to me that this has a ring of truth to me as well.
