looking at the stadium...they appear to be putting in the endzone area (next to ath center) too early. They have more concrete seats to bring in via 18 wheel flatbeds like previously done....will they be able to manuver betweeen the endzone section they are now about to pour?

canales has the opportunity to show he is the man in the next several weeks...and he just might be! Yeah Right, Rick Villarreal's job is on the line. If he hires another experiment like Dodge, and it doesn't work then he will be on the chopping block! This I agree with RV better get it right this time...but ANYONE he hires could be a big flop...ANYONE.

I haven't seen anyone say "hire canales"...everyone has said we should look at him closely...he could be a top choice...his heart is in the right place...he has to prove himself over the next several weeks, but we like him; his style; his passion....maybe this sudden turnaround in play is a tealeaf...lets keep the national search on and see what happens....I, for one, believe he should stay on at UNT in some role.

Sorry. I just don't buy in to this statement...Canales may not be hired, but he will be in the mix for the new HC job...no announcement about not hiring from within will be made.

I sure hope so...Canales may be the guy, but we need to look around also....if Canales makes big waves ,with what is left in this team, during the remaining season, it would say tremendous things about his ability...we already know were his heart is.

I would take Tune as qb over RD any day.

I am saying, if RD turns the ball over several times in the next SBC games, we could lose those games for that reason....if we lose the SBC games, then Canales is not likely to have much of a shot at the job....that is exactly what I am saying....RD's turnovers = lost games...lost games=hire different HC.....much like what happened last year. In the end, the W/L record is what counts, for the most part!

I like Leavitt too, but if Canales can run the table on the remainder of the Sun Belt, and play close with Kansas State, will we still need Leavitt? the answer is NO...canales will have earned the position in my opinion....but I don't see this happening...don't have the QB for it...RD almost gave this game away with interceptions that were just dropped...so , will RD kill off Canales chance at HC ?

No interceptions by pure LUCK. My opinion of RD as a qb is well known....but the kid gets an A for his character and guts.

tears of joy for UNT and his players.....I like it...like RV (and myself), we all get very emotional when it comes to the Meangreen and our passion for these young men and NT....I like the emotion and his heart....I hope he gets a fair shot at the HC opening....personally, I think he would be great (at least in some role)...I guess we will see what happens in the remaining games. I wonder what RV thinks?

If this is what Stockstill thinks is "well coached", then I hope he never steps foot on the UNT campus as a unt coach...pathetic graveling.

I have to admit, this sounds great. I do think Canales has the talent, experience and character to be the HC or at least play a mjor part in this program...and I feel like he WANTS this as well.

after reading that article I am even more impressed with Canales. He sounds like he could be "the man". I hope we give him a close look regardless if we look elsewhere or have hired a headhunter. I have liked his style from the start, I was impressed with the off during the clemson game and think he is probably well respected by the players....plus, you may be able to put together a package to keep him at UNT for the long haul, if he proves out....its your call RV!, just do your homework.

I suspect the decision was made before TD was fired....the rest is smoke and mirrors folks! When will it be announced?....who knows.

Finally, I want to chastise the posters on this board who have been calling for Coach Dodge's head since last spring. I think after you finish with the dead horse, you can guess whose else's ass you can kiss! I haven't been calling for dodge's head since last spring...it has been since 2008.

So some jackass who hates Leavitt sets up some negative web site !....so he lost controll a little in a emotional business...well, Texas Tech gave bob Knight a second chance and he has done alot for that program! If he had a record of multiple of the same kind of situations then I might be on board...but right now, we need the best coach we can get...not saying he is that guy, but I wouldn't let this PC shi* get in the way too much anymore than I would let it get in the way of hiring Leach...might choice if we could get him.

If you could pay him...and he would sign up...he would win and would bring a HUGE spotlight on UNT....even at a national level. When you look at what he did for Tech...I can't help but feel he would move this program up fast...he would bring a huge following and UNT might very well have to start thinking stadium expansion in just a few short years! He could bring money and excitement to UNT just like he did at Tech.

side wagon jack...you make a good case for Fran...so what High School has he coached at? Anyway....I took think he would be an outstanding choice...I thnik Rv probably is thinking Bower....you could almost hear it in his press conf when he said "or someone who has been out of coaching for a year (then a long pause) or a couple of years". don't really know much about Bower, but someone said he has been out of coaching times........thats right...2 years! it will be Leavitt, bower or Fran....almost a certainty....Fran would perhaps be the best..I really don't know!
