I would guess his chance as HC for UNT just dropped from about 50% to less than 5% on this game...I don't see DeLo returning next year in any case.

How about the defense...I don't think they have scored anywhere near that many points on another team this year....this has to be bad for Canales and of course DeLo. Also can't seem to score in the red zone....WTF! Do we have any def backs? or did these guys just stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

RV and admin has already indicated they have to invest in people to make this thing work....look for HC comp in the 400-600K range...could even be more with incentives. It has also been indicated UNT is willing to spend a million on assistants. The goal is to win, fill the stadium and get into a much better conference...so money is what it will take.

down a year or two...you keep going to games and spending money....down5-6 years...time to make a statement before RV extends the contract to another incompetent coach at UNT.

This is not about Vizza, this is about the cry babies on this board who didn't get what they want...then persecute a young man for making a decision he feels is in his best interest. If you want to blame someone...try TD who destroyed the MG year after year and made us the joke of college football....who couldn't seem to provide much protection for his QB. Not happy at UNT....I am sure there are a lot of players who were not too happy playing for TD....seems to be a big player change under Canales. I wish the young man the best.

Living in Houston, I watched the game on MG Premium.....WOW....All I can say is I really wanted to be at the game....WOW.!!!!

6. Top 25 rankings.....the Tribulation will come before NT is graced with a top 25 ranking in the SBC. Perhaps top 50 with membership in the SBC. Yea, point to BSU....but how long did it take for them to achieve their current status after we bid adeau from the Big West? Just does not happen over night. BSU just like KSU played a lot of give me games every year and now they do not load up on them as much. How long did it take....a decade....a decade and a half? Heck, I will be having a nurse aide feeding me through a straw and changing my dipers when NT reaches top 25. But might as well start again, now If I recall correctly....it happened pretty quick for H. Fry!

I think Carl Pelini would be great...makes about 375k...his brother, Bo, HC at Nebraska, would surely do whatever he could to assure Carls success at UNT.

Agreed...last week his completion ratio in the first half was "not so good", improved in 2nd half...still not so good, but all in all he did a pretty good job...he has character and is a fighter...I like. Canales seems to be able to get real performance out of RD, vs last year, where he was terrible...way too many turnovers. So far, so good...like canales, we will wait and see!

What a great article....it sums up so much of what I consider "on the money" sports talk.....yes, the meangreen did play with fire in their belly...yes Canales is doing a great job and is a great salesman...yes RD did play the be he has in forever...yes Fouts is a piece of crap and yes attendance is poor (think you RV). Many of us have been saying the same things over and over, especially concerning winning and attendance. but you keep a HC like TD around for 3 1/2 years and keep fouts field aroung 30 yrs too long and you end up with what you have...it is long pass due for RV and team to step up and make things happen at UNT before it is too late, if we haven;t already reached that point.

The season isn't up...but I have been a Canales supporter since he was named HC.....I could change my mind, as others might, depending on the rest of the season. I gotta say....I think this guy has what it takes...lets see the competition. And, btw, Mama C gives him big extra credit, I saw her video from USF.

I said on a previous post...he has great character, he plays hard and I like the kid....to his credit, he played better in the 2nd half...much better and he has not given up the interceptions or turnovers like last year....but he knows the blitz is comming on every play...they should plan for this...the quick pass, shuttle pass, the draw, etc.....in winable games like these, he doesn't seem to put it together at the right time...a huge problem he had last year. The team played significantly better than in the last several years, under TD...Canales is good, no question about that, but this giving up a TD on first play is something else...and the pass coverage...unbelievable....but again, I have been following NT football for 35 years and for most of the 35 years we have sucked...really bad...no wonder we are usually battling to get up to the no 110 slot!

Once again, RD shows why he stinks as a QB...6 of 15 for 58 yds...they know Troy is going to blitz, yet they can plan for this and get rid of ball fast? This is painful as Troy makes every attempt to give us the game. Whoever coaches the def backs should also be fired tomorrow.

don't discount Canales...I see potential in this guy and his heart is in the right place...well see what he does the rest of the season...he could be a flop or he could be a great HC for UNT...and if he was, he could be our Grant Taff....staying with UNT a long time, appreciative he was given a chance at UNT...lets let this all UNFOLD in the next few weeks...then we will know the road to take.

If UNT gets a chance at conf USA, MWC they better jump as fast as they can, even if TCU and Houston are not a memeber of either, A shot at something like the Big East would be great...just highly unlikely....the RV experiment has probably killed many upcomming opportunities.
