  1. I would play, but the draft falls at a bad time for me. Like in the middle of my work day.
  2. This is confusing. When I click on Sound Man's link above it states that Classes are Cancelled for Thursday, February 27th. Then, when I go to the UNT website, without using the link, it still has Wednesday listed. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up, just posting what I read.
  3. Just wondering whatever happened to Kathy Ireland's kicking career?... What should be our emphasis in recruiting for 04'? What kind of team does JJ want to build? What is JJ's style? Running team, half-court, pressing, etc... Why can't UNT recruit the Metroplex better? Does JJ have any connections/good relationships with area coaches? Buford and Cooley seem to be our resident Bball experts, so what do ya'll think?
  4. Coach Segal, Will you be hosting any softball camps this summer? I have an 11 year old neice that is starting to play select softball out of Grapevine. She is really excited about the team starting up at UNT, and has told me many times that I have to take her to some games. I am sure she would be interested in attending a camp. Do you have any planned? Thanks for any information you can provide.
  5. The UNT website shows that classes are cancelled for tomorrow. Man, I wish I was still in school.
  6. Thanks for keeping us updated and building the excitement Coach! I have said this many times before, but it sure is nice to have a Coach posting on this board with updated/inside information. Good luck in building another winning athletic program at UNT!!
  7. I sure hope you are right. We were saying the same thing about the men earlier this year and look at what's happened! Of course Coach Slinker has been here long enough to build her program, and we have grown accustomed to a winning team. I am confident she will have us back to our winning ways in no time.
  8. Radio announcer’s streak snapped Hank Dickenson, the play-by-play announcer for men’s basketball road games, did not make the Mean Green’s loss at Louisiana-Lafayette on Monday night because of travel difficulties. His absence snapped a personal streak of 113 consecutive road games, dating back to the 1995-96 season. Dickenson, whose day job is the senior associate athletic director for external affairs, was on a Delta flight that was supposed to leave the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport for Lafayette at 1 p.m. Mechanical troubles delayed the flight until 4:30 p.m., when weather forced it to be canceled. As a result, Dickenson (along with a certain beat writer) was stranded at D/FW. Dickenson scrambled to make sure Mean Green fans still were able to hear a broadcast. KWRD-FM 100.7 and KNTU-FM 88.1 aired the call of the Ragin’ Cajuns’ radio crew.
  9. Player of the Week Power forward Kim Blanton averaged 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in two games to earn Denton Record-Chronicle UNT Player of the Week honors. The 6-1 junior had 17 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in a 64-63 loss at New Orleans on Thursday. Blanton made sure the Lady Eagles didn’t lose Saturday at South Alabama, scoring a game-high 20 points and sinking the game-winning basket to snap the Jaguars’ 11-game home winning streak.
  10. Unless we perform miracles in the SBC Tourney. Flu becomes Davis’ biggest obstacle to record 02/26/2003 By Tim MacMahon / Staff Writer The flu has made it extremely doubtful that senior swingman Chris Davis will finish his career as the all-time leading scorer in North Texas history. Davis, who has missed the Mean Green’s last two games because of the illness, needs 76 points to surpass Kenneth Lyons for the school’s career scoring record. UNT completes its regular season Saturday night at New Mexico State. Unless the Mean Green wins in the first round of the Sun Belt tournament, Davis must average 38 points per game to move past Lyons. Davis’ career-high scoring output is 37 points on Feb. 22, 2001, against Louisiana-Lafayette. Davis currently has 2,216 points. Lyons, who played for the Mean Green from 1979 to ’83, completed his career with 2,291 points. Lyons, a frequent visitor to practices and a constant presence at home games this season, was upset when he learned that Davis would not play in his final game at the Super Pit last Saturday. "I want Chris to be the one to break my record," Lyons said.
  11. Exactly! CD is what all student-athletes should aspire to be. Good luck in the future.
  12. What happened to pizza?
  13. I stand corrected. Hopefully, this is a sign of change with the DFW media. If it weren't for Tim Mac of the DRC, I wouldn't hold out any hope.
  14. None of the Dallas News stations reported anything about UNT. Like I should be suprised. Anyway, all they talked about was her going to Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas.
  15. FIX!!!!!!!! If you are truly KO'ed, then how do you have the ability to remove you mouthpiece as soon as you hit the canvas?
  16. I prefer Norah Jones over the others, because she doesn't "over-perform." It seems too many of todays "singers" try to hit every octave on one note, ala Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera, or "stylize" their voices, ala John Mayer. I prefer to hear someone just sing a song and not try to "show off" their vocal range. Just my opinion. Obviously, all of the above are talented or they would have never been nominated. One other note, did anyone besides me notice how bad the sound was? Everything sounded either muffled, off key, or the music and the performer were off. This was a terribly produced show with many of the presenters making mistakes. What was up with Dustin Hoffman? Did he check his personality with his coat a the door? And now, Bruce Springstreet and the E Sting Band! Or how about his intro for No Doubt?
  17. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion here. That's what these boards are for anyway, but what's up with all of the negativity? First you bag on the UNT hockey team and now Norah Jones. Shouldn't we be the ones to be a step above the Denia neighbors and Music school fans and celebrate ALL of UNT's accomplishments? Just me 2 cents worth.
  18. You mean the Von Erichs, Hulk Hogan, and the rest of the WWE are fake?!
  19. There's always next year
  20. Easy PlummMG, Easy big fella.
  21. Uh, didn't we lose by 3 points. Those 2 rebounds could have led to assists and a win. A coincidence? I think not.
  22. The scary part about his tattoo is that he stated it wasn't complete yet. In fact, it isn't even half way done. Can you say, FREAK SHOW?
  23. UALR is really a class organization Let's see: 1. Their coach attacks some fans. 2. Their players shoot the bird at fans in the stands. 3. Their fans steal the opposing coach's jacket. They should be proud.
  24. UNT Notebook 02/19/2003 By Tim MacMahon / Staff Writer Athlete of the week Senior sprinter Ananka Clark set a new school indoor record in the 200 meters and ran a personal-best time in the 60 at the Arkansas-Tyson Invitational at Fayetteville, Ark. Clark also shaved three one-hundredths of a second off her personal-best time in the 60, finishing in 7.63 seconds. 25. UNT Notebook UNT center Masters leaves team 02/19/2003 By Tim MacMahon / Staff Writer Center Unjel Masters left the North Texas men’s basketball team for personal reasons, coach Johnny Jones announced Tuesday. Masters, a 6-9 junior from South Oak Cliff, played in the first 21 games of the season, making nine starts. He suited up but did not play Feb. 8 against Western Kentucky and did not make the trip Feb. 13 to Denver. Jones said Masters, who averaged 3.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game this season, told him that he thought he could best deal with his personal problems by quitting basketball. "We granted his wishes and hope that he finishes the semester and concentrates on his studies," Jones said, adding that there is no chance that Masters will rejoin the program. 7-DAY SCHEDULE SATURDAY: South Alabama at men’s basketball, 7 p.m.; women’s basketball at South Alabama, 7 p.m.; indoor track and field at Sooner Indoor Invitational; women’s tennis at Stephen F.
