  1. If that is the real Fouts in disguise from the Baylor game, where are the "5,000" Baylor fans and their pretty yellow shirts?
  2. Go to www.meangreensports.com. The link is on the homepage on the lower left hand side.
  3. Stebo, I too will miss Fouts. I remember the cinder track and thinking how awesome Fouts looked when they installed the new track. I also remember the steeplechase water pits beyond each endzone, the evergreens that are where the erector set bleachers are now, but most of all I remember and greatly miss the peeing wall.
  4. Yes, and I also realize that Pilot Point, Collinsville, Tioga, Whitesboro, Princeton, Era, Sadler, Southmaid, Callisburg, Lindsey, Muenster, Nocona, Valley View, Ponder, Justin, Drop, etc... are towns, but I didn't want my PMGish idea to be PMGish in length.
  5. First off, let me apologize for this PMGish type idea, but what are ya'll's thoughts with this? Since we are North Texas and marketing to the DFW area hasn't been overly successful, why don't we market from Denton north? Hit all of the smaller towns, such as Krum, Sanger (we do have the Higgs brothers), Gainesville area, Sherman-Denison area, McKinney, Frisco, Little Elm, etc... North Texas could host a town or two for each home game, for instance, Gainesville Appreciation Night, Sherman-Denison Appreciation night, etc... and work with the Chambers of Commerce from these communities to promote the games. Just an idea.
  6. I'm glad William Tecumseh Sherman's eligibility is up. I wonder what the NCAA would do with him if he had a 40 inch vertical and shot lights out for North Carolina?
  7. I love this article. How about the announcers that mention Patrick Cobbs? Can they state what hometown he comes from? Please don't remove this Harry/Cerebus Tecumseh, Oklahoma
  8. Yes, it was in the print addition, and the photos were credited to Rick Yeatts.
  9. Actually the front page of both the paper and the sports section. Very nice article.
  10. Ms. Haworth, you can make those checks out to the University of North Texas. You might write "Greenbelt" in the memo line.
  11. That's what a ridiculous $60 to $70 million athletic budget and the guaranteed BCS payout. When 50% of the schools get 90% of the revenue, something is wrong. They have to spend all that money on something.
  12. I hope you all remain season ticket holders after Nick graduates. We need all the loud and good fans we can get.
  13. I remember when Nick arrived and had a rough first year. We were all worried about the kicking game. Now, I hate to see him go. He is about as automatic as they come, and I am shocked if he misses.
  14. An indoor practice facility is a luxury. We are not at the point of constructing luxuries when we need to address necessities such as a new stadium, assistant coaches salaries, etc...
  15. Offense: Zach Muzzy will have a great year working against single coverage as the DB's key on JQ. Brock Stickler will also become a contributer, and I hope Chad Rose helps us forget about Andy Brewster. Defense: Jamel Branch has a lot to prove being moved the DB this year, and I think he will surprise quite a few people. I look for our JUCO's, Weathers and Ransom, to live up to expectations and for "Big Cat" Raymond to emerge on the DL.
  16. Why are people down on Haynes? I haven't seen him practice, so I only have to go on what people that have have to say.
  17. That's good to hear about Thompson. I am looking forward to seeing him play considering I have heard nothing but good things about him. If they handed this out at Media Day, yesterday, why is Micah West still listed if he is academically ineligible? Is Lineberry a Sr. or a Jr. Someone please clarify, because I thought this was his third year.
  18. Who would win a fight between Bill Brasky and Ditka?
  19. I've got an idea, let the students in for free!
  20. Quarterback. Anyone have access to his HS stats? I know he was a dual threat running and throwing, and Rivals had him listed as being recruited by North Texas, Iowa and Houston.
  21. [bUT STILL......I JUST DON'T GET IT?!?!? BECAUSE.......NORTH TEXAS has an all time football series record of 13 W's--5 L's--3 ties versus the Miners of UTEP. They hire a known coach ("2" years ago) with not the best reputation in the NCAA; go from being ranked as low as in the high 90's last year in some pre-season college football rags to getting a Top 24 ranking from one of those this summer; we go to 4 bowl games in a row and can't (at this point) sniff the Top 25 (1 or 2 schools in the MAC have in some pre-season rankings this summer). So I'm confused [what's new?] with all this. Anyone have any answers? Is it facilities? Stadium? Attendance? Is it that they have more fans who are not just talkers but do-ers (with their donations to the Miner Club or Foundation and at the turnstiles)? And no, I am NOT jealous of UTEP because I think NT has a the better upside longterm). Insert KTCK 1310 "The Tickets" drop: "Help me, man?" Why? GMG! ←
  22. I would love to see it, but it is a waste of money at this time. If we were playing with a $60 to $70 million budget, then I would be all for it.
  23. Defensive backfield gets help from freshmen 11:39 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 By BRETT VITO / The Dallas Morning News DENTON – Three of UNT's incoming freshmen who played at least part time on offense in high school opened spring practice by working with the Mean Green's defensive backs. Korey Washington played quarterback at Cedar Park, and Desmond Chatman was a running back at Conroe. Dominique Green played wide receiver and defensive back as a senior at Lawton (Okla.) Eisenhower. UNT returns only one starter from its defensive backfield in senior cornerback T.J. Covington. Briefly ... Freshman Eddrick Gilmore worked with UNT's tight ends on the first day of practice. Gilmore was considered a college prospect as both a tight end and defensive end during his senior year at Alief Hastings. ... Former Sanger standout Chris Higgs, the younger brother of UNT safety Cliff Higgs, has joined the Mean Green as a walk-on.
  24. I think TIgreen01 was being a little sarcastic. Don't you mean Leinart and Bush? Who's White?
