  1. Judging from the "terms of endearment" you use for your wife and her child birth skills, I would guess you played football at CU and are a big supporter of Barnett and the administration in Boulder? You seem to take the same approach to women as they do.
  2. Your attitude amazes me. Who do you suggest they address there concerns to? RV is ultimately responsible for what occurs with NT athletics. He can forward all of the letters the the staff member that is responsible for this, but he should know and needs to be aware of the problems that arose. Why don't you go sit at Eagle Point and mark off the days until your 8 to 10 year stadium plan comes to fruition.
  3. And we wonder why the ushers were rude on the student side!? I didn't run in to any problems, had a great time (other than the outcome), liked seeing ushers assist people and insure people were sitting in the seats they paid for. Look, I used to show up, buy my $8.00 endzone seat and sit any place I saw fit. Prior to last year I decided to stop robbing the system, realizing I was hurting the department I was trying to support by skating by and bought season tickets. These are growing pains that we will have to work through because there has been a total lack of attention in the past. Our athletic department is just trying to run the show like any other D1 school and will learn from their mistakes. If the same problems arise for the MUTS game, then we've got a problem, but I have faith that RV will correct these problems. I have worked in customer service for over 10 years and would advise RV to address these concerns, but how do you reach all of the people that attended without their addresses? First, you shoot out either a letter or email to the season ticket holders, then you run an ad in the NT Daily apologizing and addressing the changes with the faculty, staff and students of UNT, run a brief article on the website and have Vito run an article in the DRC. Acknowledge the problem, apologize, fix the problems. Those three steps, if done correctly, will created more loyal fans/customers to the program. Ignore them, and you will lose some forever. If you choose to write RV a letter, don't be biligerent. Point out the positives you saw, then point out the problems you encountered and be tactful. See you all on October 2nd when we welcome the MUTS to SPCA day.
  4. Regarding the seating, there looked to be plenty of seats down towards where the 20 FAU fans were sitting. Wouldn't they let ya'll sit down there, or where they trying to herd all of the students in to about 3 sections? If there's not enough room in the "student seating" then move the band down to where the FAU folks were sitting and move the visiting fans to the endzones. We paid $60 to sit beyond UT's endzones, so I would think moving the visiting folks down there and charging them 8 would be acceptable.
  5. Sounds like this message needs to be sent to RV.
  6. It is listed as a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 125 mph. I would think that, coupled with its immense size, will equal destruction.
  7. Does NT get to keep this scholarship and use it this year? If so, is there anybody out there at this point worth extending it to?
  8. The old Estes Stables that are south of Eagle Point are in pretty bad shape. Ms. Estes died years ago, and the stables haven't been kept up with. Denton County is one of the largest a richest quarter horse breeding counties in the world. Justin has a large ranch visible from 35W, but most of the horsemen live in the Pilot Point area. There are also some large horse ranches in the Flower Mound/Bartonville/Argyle area that have jumping facilities. I would think that there would be enough interest to start this program with some refurbishment to the Estes Stables area.
  9. You mean UT will actually come up to Denton? Should we send them a map to make sure they don't get lost?
  10. Women's Basketball: Lady Eagles lose Armstrong, Medlock UNT to replace top three scorers from last season 08:16 AM CDT on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 By Brett Vito / Staff Writer Jill Medlock and Jamie Armstrong, two of the North Texas women’s basketball team’s top players, have left the program, coach Tina Slinker said. Medlock notified Slinker in the past few days that she would not return to school for personal reasons. Armstrong was not invited back to play with the Lady Eagles next season. "You can’t say that this is not a tough loss but it is much better to have a core of people who want to work together," Slinker said. "We wish both Jill and Jamie the best." Medlock ranked second on the team in scoring last season with an average of 10.9 points a game and was one of the top outside shooters in the Sun Belt Conference. Armstrong ranked third on the team with an average of 10.2 points a game and second in rebounds with an average of 5.4. "I made the decision not to bring Jamie back," Slinker said. "We have things with the team concept that are important and we don’t know if she was willing follow them." Both players were expected to soften the blow UNT endured after forward Kim Blanton completed her career last year when she averaged a team-high 11.6 points a game and was named honorable mention All-Sun Belt Conference. "Replacing our top three scorers will be tough, but we will have the same problem we had last year," Slinker said. "We were inconsistent offensively and had trouble scoring at times." The timing of Medlock’s decision was especially tough for UNT, which did not have time to recruit another player to take her place. Medlock made 61 three-point shots last season, breaking the school record of 60 set by Ashley Norris in the 1995-96 season. Kelsie Edwards, a sophomore forward who averaged 7.6 points a game last season while coming off the bench, will now be UNT’s leading returning scorer. "As a coach, you have to take it as an injury," Slinker said. "When you lose someone, you have to replace them and go forward. It also forces us to focus on team concepts because you don’t have that one person to go to." Slinker said she is considering a number of changes in her lineup to compensate for the loss of Medlock and Armstong. Junior point guard Erika Bobo could move to the shooting guard spot, a move that would allow Natalie Mireles to start at point guard. Kennethia Wilson could also move into a more prominent role as a scorer. The junior forward averaged 7.2 points in 10 games before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during a game against SMU. Wilson missed the rest of the season. UNT’s incoming freshmen could also have a chance to contribute immediately. Slinker signed three players in her last recruiting class. Erica Howard, a 6-3 post player, Amber Jackson, a 6-2 forward, and guard Amanda Quattrocchi all earned all-state honors during their high school careers. UNT’s freshmen will join a squad that finished with an 11-17 record after losing to Middle Tennessee in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. "The freshmen will have to contribute right away and that can be a positive," Slinker said. "It’s important to be a part of the system. Everyone here is buying into the system now and thinks that we can win."
  11. This is a pretty good home stretch. UNC-Wilmington has been to the tourney recently, Lamar is coached by Billy Tubbs (hope for a little Fake Billy on the Ticket) and TCU.
  12. I agree that we should show respect towards Ms. Gibson also, but I think we all connected with Andrew for main reason. Many more people watched Andrew play football than watched LaKisha run track, thus creating a familiarity with Andrew that just wasn't there with LaKisha. Believe me, I don't think anyone was disrespectful to LaKisha. Losing any person at this age is terrible.
  13. Area golf notebook: Lewisville pro benefits from Daly contribution 10:22 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 By BILL NICHOLS / The Dallas Morning News Lewisville's Bruce Smith, pro at the Trails of Frisco, has already had a successful experience as one of the 25 club pros who qualified for the PGA Championship. During Smith's practice round at Whistling Straits last week, John Daly caught up to Smith, and then joined him for the final three holes. Smith mentioned the celebrity pro-am he would be doing last Monday at the Trails of Frisco. Kisses Fore Kennedy was held to raise money for their 2-year-old daughter, Kennedy, who was born with lymphatic malformation of a portion of her face. Daly offered to give Smith souvenirs for the auction and then reached into his pocket. "I thought he was giving me a business card," Smith said. "But he handed me a roll of bills. John said, 'Here, put that in your foundation.' I peeled the bills apart, and there was $1,000. I was pretty choked up about it. I will never forget John and what he has done."
  14. That's why it was mentioned on the non-UNT sports board. Other Board
  15. Thanks for the comic relief. Wonder why Ricky was never busted at UT for smoking dope? And don't tell me he wasn't doing it then.
  16. I've chosen to keep my draft thoughts stealthly quiet. I find your question as a way to scout your opponents thoughts in our upcoming fantasy league. I may take Marcel Shipp.
  17. Maybe I read your post wrong. I took it to mean that 50% of the die-hard football fans don't make the football games on Saturday. I now see where you meant they don't make the bball games. I think you will see an increase in bball attendance once the program consistently wins, the program is properly promoted and they host some D1 programs on a consistent basis. I'll give them Indiana last year, but besides that, nobody wants to see Hardin Simmons, Southeastern Oklahoma Baptist, Pan-Am, etc...
  18. Be careful who you call out and make sure your facts are straight before you start stating them.
