  1. A year ago NT was around #60. Still happy with the direction this has headed with DD at the controls?
  2. Look about 1/2 down the page. I'm assuming this means he is a candidate.
  3. Washington was moved to DB. He doesn't have the size to play LB. H-town, please tell me why you think the OL will be better. We had a ton of experience returning this year with Lineberry, Foster and May. Burrus also played some until mono sidelined him last year. The only real new face was Rose. Well, we will graduate May and Lineberry, our best lineman, may be gone if his academics aren't on course. The OL is the most disappointing position to me this year. They have never really jelled, are, as a group, undersized and have been manhandled in many games.
  4. PMG...I was 2 1/2 in 1968. My parents moved to Denton in 1965, and I was born shortly thereafter. I don't have many memories of the first games I was brought to in 1968, but I have been attending/listening ever since, and can't think of supporting another team.
  5. The problem is that we don't recruit in "the center of the hottest football recruiting location on the planet" very well. We haven't signed many DFW area recruits in the last few years.
  6. So are you saying that the only way NT will ever replace an assistant coach is after they are hired away? Why would we ever take that attitude. If they aren't performing, they should be gone. That's just the nature of the coaching profession.
  7. Too expensive? You think Ohio can afford him but not K-State? Solich would jump at the chance to get back in the Big 12 and stick it to Nebraska.
  8. "A coach of this caliber?" Please explain. meangreenmike, I have been critical of DD and his offense for years, but to answer your points: 1. I have supported this program in one way or another since 1968 and will continue to do so. 2. Being around since 1968, I've seen struggling that I hope many of you never get to see. I will continue to support NT, but I don't have to like the fact that our coach bad mouths the fans, facilities and continues to state how tough a situation we have here, whatever that means. 3. I'm not asking DD to throw the ball all over the field just not be so predictable. When new fans show up and are calling the plays from the stands then you know the opposing coaches aren't having too difficult of a time figuring things out. My problem, NT is the 4th largest university in Texas in the middle of the Metroplex and has the potential to be greater than a bottom rung D1 program. DD has made a living off of beating the teams ranked 100 or below in D1. When there are only 117 D1 teams, that is not that impressive.
  9. Denton RC I’ve written before about how I hate the poser tradition of tossing tortillas at University of North Texas football games. But, if the Mean Green are going to try to do away with the custom that UNT fans pilfered from Texas Tech, then they’ve got to publicize it. UNT doesn’t want the tortillas messing with the new FieldTurf but went about eliminating the pesky flat bread without so much as a word in the press. During last Saturday’s loss to Louisiana-Lafayette, one of the Mean Green’s biggest and most-beloved fans, “Fire-Fightin’” Rick McKinney was escorted out of the stadium for misdemeanor possession… of tortillas. Apparently, the Fort Worth firefighter and Mean Green alum was holding a bag of tortillas and was taken out of the stands by police, even though he claimed not to have thrown any. All the while, the Mean Green fans booed lustily. McKinney was eventually allowed back into the stadium sans tortillas, and he returned to an uproar just in time to see the Mean Green rally back and take a 28-24 lead only to lose 31-28. Classy.
  10. I hear that the above is every conference committee's first consideration when considering adding a university. Thank goodness Texas wasn't looking for a conference home a couple of years ago when firemackbrown.com was up and running. They may have been an independent by now.
  11. This may all be true, but Chuck Norris ain't no Bill Brasky!
  12. This appears to be an excellent class that addresses every position while adding much needed size. Only time will tell, but these last two classes appear to have this program heading in the right direction.
  13. Rating recruits before they play one down of D1 ball is ridiculous. Regarding NT's recruiting, I think our talent level has improved every year although I wish we would have brought in some more size along the lines. The coaching of this talent is my concern.
  14. 1. Constantly bad mouthing the fans, the department, his situation, etc... 2. Fostering an environment of hostility towards the fans and supporters of this program that is evident in his comments and now the actions of his OC. 3. Lack of discipline. Coaches going after fans, coaches not doing their job in the offseason, players in trouble with the law, players getting in trouble the night before bowl games, players not making their grades, unsportsmanike conduct penalties without consequence, etc, etc, etc... 4. Not willing to sell the program. 5. Abysmal showing against similar level opponents: Tulsa, La Tech, Memphis, etc... 6. The most boring and predictable offensive system in college football. North Texas football is at a crucial point in its existence, and DD is the wrong person at the controls. BTW, LJ, DD and RF are all from SMU.
  15. Ironic. He congratulates Coach Hedlund, who has a very young soccer team, for having a great year, and then blames his problems on youth.
  16. The truth is out. shaft is LJ! I suggest Adler and anyone else email RV with these observations. Getting a corporation to sponsor a give away only to have the hired stadium personel take them away is ridiculous. Every incident from last night is an embarrasment to the University.
  17. Great Job Ladies! Make a statement at the NCAA tournament
  18. Notice the "park-like" setting just to the west of the Denia neighborhood? That was some beautiful land.
  19. Just a few comments led me to this opinion like: Or Or Again, just my opinion.
  20. Would love to have him, but NT is his fallback. He doesn't want to be here, but would accept it if everything else falls apart.
  21. Poor comedy. A Louisiana native criticizing another state's politics. I live in Houston now. Our mayor and political leaders organized and delivered the largest evacuation ever without bickering, blaming others, etc.... when Rita was knocking on our door. On top of that, many of the evacuees were Louisiana natives sent here after Katrina.
