I'm 50!
-
Man, you are old I'll be 42 in a month. Happy Birthday FFR!

As the old Bud commercial goes, "True, True." Back to the scouting of Navy, their QB can fly and I'm worried what he will do when he turns the corner. If ULL's QB can do what he did, then this young man could set records against us. Hopefully we have our defensive issues worked out by then.

I'm sure Under Armour will be stocked soon. They are probably just clearing out old inventory.

Anyone See The Damn Today? I Love This Team!

I wasn't going to respond and still don't think I need to considering "bigntex" and his/her remarks. I will respond to the above though. I didn't tell you when, what or how to post. I did say that you should stick with your basketball analysis, because you have proven knowledgable in that area. What I meant by that was that I disagreed wholeheartedly with your assessment of Vizza. Sorry, I'm sure it came out wrong, but I was worn out with some of the knee-jerk comments on here. My point is that a ballplayer doesn't rack up awards and wins and get recruited by programs that Vizza was without talent. You, by your comments, were ready to cast him off in to the scrap heap after his 1st collegiate start. It takes time to adjust to the speed of the game and to calm your nerves. Plus, you don't throw for 384 yards and a couple of touchdowns without talent. Your comments seemed to say that Riley will walk in and set the world on fire from day one. I just don't see that happening. He needs to mature physically and also adjust to the speed of D1A ball. I've watched Riley for a long time and am excited that he is here, but I am also excited to have Vizza and think he deserves more than one start before deciding on his future. In my opinion, everyone needs to cool their expectations on this season and realize what Todd Dodge inherited. Just for a reminder, a team that won 5 games the last two years that needs to be taught how to win, a team with 3 WR's on scholarship when his offense utilizes 4 and a team recruited to a run based offense when he runs a passing system. You don't change these things overnight and we shouldn't expect that. I am impressed with the freshmen on this team that he recruited in 17 days. I'm impressed with the early verbal committments, and I'm sure I'll be impressed with the entire class once signing day rolls around. I also realize that the players recruited specifically for TD's program are freshmen this year, will be freshmen, redshirt freshmen or sophmores next year. It could take a year or two to turn this entirely around. What I am disappointed in is the perfomance of the defense, but I also think that will be taken care of shortly. TD is not one to call out his players or coaches publicly like Mike Leach. I'm sure he and Mendoza are working hard to correct the issues with the defense. I also believe that TD has made it perfectly clear to Mendoza that he is gone if they don't improve and produce better results. Again, sorry for making you mad. I was just worn out with all of the negative crap on this board at the time. -
Whenever I watch Navy, I think of when we turned down Coach Johnson for the head coaching position years ago.

Td Playing 7 Full Freshmen, Some Needed Speed

I'll believe the kids that have played for him for years over a poster on gmg.com. The kids that have played for him sure seem to respect him and love playing for him. -
I would love to see Holman or Mahan in the middle.

Hope you are right. ULM has a pretty stout running game. -
Word of advice. Don't utilize "hump day" in response to one of Quoner's posts.

Florida International Has H U G E Problems
UNTLifer replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Why? -
1. It is a rebuilding year on both sides of the ball. 2. No changes will be made with a coaching staff mid-season.

TFLF, I admire you for your opinions, but I think you have to give people a fair shake. Dr. B hasn't even here a full year, TD has been her roughly 10 months and RV had a mess to clean up when he arrived and worked under a restrictive system for the last 6 years. They can't undo over a half a decade's worth of mistakes in a couple of months. Give these people a chance to right the ship. Dr. B and TD haven't been here long enough to make noticable changes, so let's look at a few of RV's: New AC New Softball field New turf, scoreboard and yearly improvements to Fouts while working on fundraising for a new stadium. New tennis facility New soccer facility New volleyball facility New floor in the Super Pit More large single donations than NT has ever seen. Purchase and conversion of Liberty Christian Campus Allowing tailgating on campus Is he perfect? No, but who is? Trying to overcome years and years of neglect is difficult. Trying to overcome years and years of not reaching out to the alumni is difficult. Don't gripe about them asking us to give. Alumni giving is what makes the world go round in collegiate athletics. Telling us that they've sold us out and they don't know what they are doing is ridiculous at this point.

Shouldn't you be worried about the Broncos? I could refer a couple of replacements. -
What did they talk about? Anything enlightening?
-
If you only agree with his points on other school's making progress then state that. In your first response you agreed with the entire post and started it by agreeing the Dr. B, the BOR, RV, etc... have sold us out. You flip-flopping on that now? What have I stated that is foolish? Assistants? You also agree with Finch about having a staff full of high school coaches. Coaches LaCroix, Peterson, Gandy, Rausch, Vestal and Leftwich might find that amusing considering they all have college experience. Your arguements are baseless and your don't know what you are talking about half the time.

So an illegal play is the rightful response to a legal play? I don't agree with the chop block, but it is legal.

You are a freaking idiot also. That post is so full of B.S. you should be wearing boots. A few examples: Our starting QB was the 4A Player of the Year last year and was starting his first collegiate game. Even with his first game jitters, he settled down and did much better as the game went on. You want a real read of his potential? Go to the game this weekend. Our school isn't serious about football? Really? Then why in the world do you build an athletic center and position it to be the south end zone structure in the future stadium? Comparing NT to Stanford's situation in mindboggling. Plus, Harbaugh wasn't coming here and Dodge was the best hire. You two morons are calling for someone's head in the 5th game of his collegiate coaching career. Neither one of you know what situation DD left TD and what needed to be done when he arrived. I'm sure it was nothing compared to Stanford and the BCS millions they make as part of the PAC 10. Oh and Fitzgerald's catches for -2 and 2 yards. How in the world did he end up with 14 catches for 131 yards and 2 TD's catching only -2 and 2 yard passes. I could go on and on, but have decided to rest on my responses to the two morons or the board. Go join ponyfans or baylorfans or hurricanewatchersanonymous.com

You are a freaking idiot. Put your money where your mouth is and go to the coach's show tonight and address this with Dodge himself or head on over to the AC and request a sit down. Hitting hard is one thing, but blatantly after the whistle is ridiculous on any level. You're right, they aren't high school officials they are D1A officials with more experience and should call late hits regardless. Typical lawyer. You've got a b.s. arguement for everything on here.

Please stick to basketball in your analysis. Vizza was the 4A Player of Year in Texas last year. Many of the other recruits that are freshmen this year put up big numbers in successful programs. Santiago, Drake and Menard are young and form a good nucleus for the future OL. Penson will be a stud at LB. Currently, Mendoza and Monroe have been a disappointment at LB and should be replaced by Mahan and Penson. DL will have turnover at the DE after this year, but Chapman has been a success for a couple of years. Gilmore was a Top 50 recruit of DD's that will be a force if he can keep his grades in order. Dibrell, Walker and Johnson were all state receivers. Plus, Dodge had 17 days to recruit last year. Look at what has committed verbally to this point. Hang on to these young men and get to work after the season filling out the class and see what happens in the next year or two. -
Usually down low in section E. At least that is where they used to be.
