  1. Don't lump me in your "We" crowd.
  2. Slightly off topic, but I hope they bring back the Thunderstruck intro. That crap they rolled out last year was a whipping.
  3. FFR, do you have a link to this article in the Troy paper?
  4. From my time at NT, Lance White/Byron Gross Current Era: The Four Horsemen, "Kassell, Spencer, Hurd, Casey." Couldn't pick just one.
  5. Many to choose from.
  6. So, don't publish your totals out of embarrasment? Give me a break. NT has never stated their season ticket sales.
  7. So because nobody wants to sing "Fly Like An Eagle" makes this a non-tradition? Cheering? However each person chooses to. You want to yell, then yell. You want to clap your hands, then clap your hands. Cheering/clapping for a good play in unison doesn't make a tradition. Tradition is a lot of things: Midnight Yell Practice at A&M is tradition. Making the "Hookem' Horns" with your hand is tradition at UT. The running of the Sooner Schooner is tradition at OU. Watching crappy football is tradition at SMU. Rocky Top is tradition at Tennessee Lighting the tower at UT is tradition. Traditions at NT: Firing Boomer The Model A The Victory Bell Lighting the Administration Bldg. North Texas chant is becoming tradition "Fly Like An Eagle" Just because everyone doesn't participate or doesn't like the song, such as you, doesn't mean it is not a tradition. If that were the case, we would be changing traditions every year. A tradition happens over time not over night.
  8. Well, if the above qualifies as "highschoolish" then every 1A team is high schoolish. Don't you think Tennessee fans get tired of listening to Rocky Top or OU fans with Boomer Sooner? What about Florida State and the indian chant or Florida and the gator chomp? What about TD's, drives, tackles, touchdown, etc...? How about just standing up and cheering? These aren't traditions.
  9. When it is the Athletic Department's money, I don't think they get a say in it.
  10. If you know you have sold more tickets by the end of May than you had all of last year, at least give of last year's number. What's the big secret anyway?
  11. Thanks for the laugh.
  12. I would replace the coaches pictures and links to their bios with pictures of The Dancers and links to their bios. Excellent work.
  13. From the DRC: www.meangreensports.com Article
  14. No, my guess is that he is in the market for binoculars and what wondering what magnification strength to purchase.
  15. Yes, but how many of the 100,000 badmouth their alma mater on local radio every chance they get? Sarcasm noted, but you are correct. We don't have a need for a notable alumni, that badmouths his alma mater, on a well-known sports station in one fo the largest markets in the nation. He will always be an "OU Wanna Be" and nothing more.
  16. I'm not saying, nor have I ever, that NT should field a team right now. The football stadium is the most important addition to athletics at this time, and nothing should be done until this facility is funded. What I am saying is baseball should be added at the right time, especially if the choice is baseball or men's soccer. I am a native of Denton, and yes Denton will support baseball. Your concern about funding the program is moot considering Mr. Goldfield has already offered to underwrite the entire program. BTW, he has the cash to back up his offer. Your "blanket statement" regarding "a core of solid fans, "friends of the players" fans and a few, a few local baseball fans...that's it." is baseless and ridiculous. Neither one of us knows how many fans would attend NT baseball games, but I do know that a baseball team and its facilities will draw more fans and bring more revenue than soccer, which would be lucky to have 100 fans and would generate $0.
  17. Truer words were never spoken.
  18. I guarantee you that if the NCAA had the nads to institute this again and again for the likes of OU and Alabama that continue to get caught cheating it would lessen cheating. Every team knows that the NCAA won't do it again, so they aren't worried about it. Kind of like arresting criminals. Stop doing it and nobody is afraid to break the law.
  19. I'll take the "lots of people," they can have Craig.
  20. Seems the thugs from Miami were on a future schedule at one time, and I'm sure UT, OU and LSU will continue their rotation of hosting us.
  21. TastyGreek and KRAM, soccer is a bigger blackhole than baseball ever thought about being. No attendance and horrendous travel over come fair attendance and a regional schedule. Also, please don't use the Outlaws as an example. They've moved playing fields every year and are a bunch of kids that none, or few, of us have ties to. A college baseball team will draw in Denton. If NT softball draws a couple 100 then baseball would attract a couple thousand. Plus, a baseball stadium can be rented out to high school teams for playoff series which would bring teams and fans of both teams to spend their dollars in Denton. Plus, if RV were smart he would hire one of two very successful college coaches that grew up in the Denton city leagues and played for DHS that have strong ties to the community, Tim Tadlock or Skipper Johnson. I appreciate your love of soccer, but it wouldn't draw flies.
  22. Reallly? Oh, and he runs a 5.8 forty. Hope they put him on a strength and conditioning plan (speed and agility based) real soon.
  23. Welcome to the board new2NT. Trust me, we are all thrilled to have Riley at NT.
  24. Not overly impressed with a HS team that loses to the boys from South Park one year and some chick named Jeannette the following.
