  1. And now we know why DD was so lax on discipline.
  2. Still don't see it, especially when the NT hat says North Texas on the back. I have the same hat and have never been asked if I was an Philly fan. Now, there was a former NT hat in forest green with the eagle head logo that was similar.
  3. DENTON (4/11/07) - MeanGreenSports.com is previewing the 2007 North Texas football team with daily updates that will break down the team’s outlook by position. The updates will continue over the next nine days, leading up to the annual Green and White Game that will be played at Fouts Field on Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m. Linebackers With the switch back to the 4-3, the premium on the play of the linebackers will be even higher for the Mean Green in 2007. Fortunately there will be plenty of experience returning as seven different linebackers who started at least one game last season are back. Senior Maurice Holman looks poised for a stellar closeout to his career after finishing second on the team in tackles and earning all-conference honors the past two years. Holman has 179 career tackles and is expected to be a vocal leader for the entire defense. Brandon Monroe and former walk-on Derek Mendoza have the most experience of the remaining linebackers and are expected to battle for the remaining two starting positions. The two seniors split time at the same position last year but will benefit by playing beside each other this year. Underclassmen were forced to play a considerable role on a youthful team in 2006, particularly at the linebacker position. With the learning curve out of the way players like Colt Mahan, Tobe Nwigwe and Germaine Dawson will each have the opportunity to make an even bigger impact this season. Mahan made his splash by leading the team in tackles in each of his first two career starts, and Dawson finished in the top five on the team in tackles after earning starts in each of the first 11 games of the year. Dawson’s 54 tackles was the most by a freshman since teammate Brandon Monroe had 62 in 2004. Fellow freshman Nwigwe proved to be a big-play specialist finishing second on the team with seven tackles for a loss while starting all 12 games. Redshirt freshman Craig Robertson has also made a quick impression on the coaches and will battle to be in the two deep. Top Returning Tacklers in Linebacker Corps Maurice Holman – 74 Germaine Dawson – 54 Colt Mahan – 53 Derek Mendoza - 41 Brandon Monroe - 38 Here is a look at the schedule for the updates by position Wed. April 11 – Defensive Line Thur. April 12 – Linebackers Fri. April 13 – Safeties Sat. April 14 – Cornerbacks Sun. April 15 – Special Teams Mon. April 16 – Offensive Line Tue. 4. You are missing the point anyway. The Fry era stylized eagle, aka Flying Worm, was never coming back anyway. The new eagle logo, Son of Worm as some call it, is what we are referring to.
  5. FYI...This is by far the most popular logo North Texas has ever used and was instantly recognizable which is the purpose of a logo, isn't it? Sorry you don't like it, but many would still prefer this being used.
  6. True, true. Folks would be wondering why the Philadelphia Eagles joined the Sun Belt.
  7. Either way, NT has "mailed" it in again in regards to helmet designs.
  8. I understand. UT has the same issue with WT White High School in Dallas, and Texas High in Texarkana.
  9. So you are telling me that Navy approved that shirt? I think you can work around the CLC with these shirts.
  10. Sorry, but I disagree with a lot of your post, but the above struck me as odd considering why the SAE's were kick off campus and it wasn't for throwing a party.
  11. I look forward to Dodge's offense being installed and the excitement that will bring, but what I really would like to see is a return to the days of having a dominant defense. The team and the fans fed off of the plays Kennedy, Daniels, McIver, Spencer, Casey, Hurd, Buckles, Jones, etc... delivered on each down. Nothing like a big hit, sack or turnover to turn momentum around.
  12. Ever see that crap Tennessee wears? That ain't burnt and it ain't regular.
  13. Didn't give him a chance? How about, "Maybe DD had the right guy at the helm all along but just didn't know how to coach, and neither did his OC."
  14. Anyone that confuses this hat with the Philadelphia Eagles is a moron. Take the time to educate the moron about North Texas if they do ask, but don't let them dictate what you wear.
  15. The new eagle, Son of Worm, could never be mistaken with Philadelphia, which only has the wings. I've worn a green ball cap with the new eagle on it for almost a year now, in DFW and Houston, and not one person has ever asked me if I am a Philly fan.
  16. Try this link: voertmans.com or the mean green gear link off of the athletic's website.
  17. Doesn't come in green? Buy a black one and slap the green Son of Worm on it and there you go.
  18. I'm sure Starks suffered coming from a similar HS program with a hand's on coach in Joey Florence to playing for DD.
  19. To be fair, the ASU comparison isn't valid. That is just an article on their Spring game, which we haven't had yet. I do like how ULM is covering each position with a preview article though. I guess I've become accustom to receiving great MG Reports in the past and miss them this year.
